      its the ultimate pulsed plasma 2 stroke, but it burns much hotter than klotz gas electron bond mix, that barley reach 4500 deg f but this lightning has way more enery and gets over 60000 deg f and it fires on every stroke, So natures 2 stroke is far far more powerful!

      I saw lighting strike a field (about a 1/4 mile away), one time, and it left a glowing streak of hot plasma in the sky for probably 15 or 20 seconds. I first thought that the lightning had left a little hot flash streak on my retina, but I looked away and looked back twice, and the sky was still showing a glowing streak in the sky. Lighting is a terrifying freak of nature.

      I think we should try to find a way to convert the heat generated by the lighting into usable electricity using antennas like that. Maybe even produce artificial lighting to have energy whenever we need. That would be awesome

      @@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess I was thinking the same thing but in order for the problem here is that you need to decrease the conductivity of the wire to make the temperatures rise. But a decreased conductivity would decrease the probability that lightning would strike at the lightning rod which defeats its primary purpose ie. protecting other electrical components from lightning damage.

      I believe in theory it won’t because the positive ionized material became negatively charged so nothing is there to pull the lighting strike back onto the surface since it sees it as neutral... but these antennas are usually grounded so any negative charged get absorbed into ground thus making it positive charge to draw in lighting strikes.

    • @garretr4488
      @garretr4488 7 років тому +3

      almost all of these antennas have a shield that is grounded so most of the lightning power gets shunted to ground since it will take the path of least resistance, and that's directly down the tower into ground rods and into the ground, I'm sure they also have some pretty beefy lightning arrestors that ground the center coax conductor when a voltage spike is detected

    • @alexlubbers1589
      @alexlubbers1589 6 років тому +3

      Good question! I shall explain.
      In a nutshell, we can't store the electricity blast from a lightning bolt because it would cause even the most robust high voltage machinery to overheat and explode. Also, lightning's electricity is what is known as static electricity, which is different to the alternating current used for most of the earth's humans ( DC also is used sometimes).
      Also, if we DID have the technology capable of storing and withstanding a lightning discharge, we wpuld need to put a power pland in a place that has lots of Cloud-Ground (CG) lightning, the big spectacular bolts that hit the earth. Unfortunately, most places, stormy or not, have not too many outbreaks of rapid CG activity, except the desert southwest. The storms there produce epic amounts of CG, bombarding the landscape. If we did design and build a "lightning catcher" we would probably build it there.
      Hope this answers your question and have a great day!

      Alex Lubbers looking forward to that, I hope someday we could build something like "conserving lightning energy" or ( lightning storage).
      And then supply it somewhere part of the earth that hasn't been used to electricity due to incapability of having it.

      +z1mt0n1x
      That would be impossible. Once a lightning bolt strikes, all that energy disappears and gets converted to heat, light and sound.
      A lightning bolt is caused by positive and negative charges in the ground and the atmosphere. You could think of this as a giant battery. Once a lightning strike occurs, this "battery" is immediately drained.
      The only theoretical way it could be done is if the atmospheric charges are harvested *before* they become a lightning bolt, which in itself is impossible because there is no way to predict when or where these charges will occur.

      @effo88 6 років тому

      And now TPTB have learned how to use the technology reversed. It's pretty clear from the flow of the energy that the lightning from the second tower is emitted by the tower itself, not the clouds. Try and speed tap on space/click the mouse quickly before the lightning strikes the tower and you should see this in action.
