I disagree. These class action lawsuits only benefit the lawyers. I wouldn't be surprised if some law firm helped the dark web get the information just so they could sue to make money off of it.

The SS numbers were sold, the media is being used to give notice. Now, the next step is for Americans to refuse to sign p for any service that demands a SS number. There isn't a single provider that actually needs that particular number to provide you their service. It's fluff ttey can get out of you and sell for profit.

Well.what happened to the millions put into cyber security to stop all this.

    • @StanJones-ww8th
      @StanJones-ww8th Місяць тому

Millions will never stop all this since Billions are being currently spent to add features and technologies that organizations can use to expand business and increase cashflow which they require to stay in business period.
I believe that I might be tempted to bet that very few people will ever say that
they refuse to buy into a new service or new idea UNTIL THEY KNOW THAT DOING SO WOULD NEVER put themselves in a situation where they could be harmed by using the new "widget" ...... like maybe UA-cam or some other glamorous (and useful and fun) thing. How much trust do we now place in
services like "airline checkin from a cell phone" or how easily we accept
Alexa when we have no idea what Alexa is capable of that we know little about
that we let control our heat/ac thermostat when we are not even home.
Do we not read the manual first to learn about security features before we
buy or do we just accept trust plugin and enjoy and believe that others will
look after security. We generally do the latter.
Of course my kids tell me that we can't go thru life living in fear of what
we don't know that might happen when we no longer can apply for many jobs
except online. Tonight there was a knock on the door and a guy handed me some
food that had been ordered online and delivered to our house and I was the only
one who had to get off the couch. (wasn't for me).
I wish that AT&T didn't give or sell my AT&T identity to 3rd parties but that is part
of their business model as well as many others as well as they told me i had to
give them my SS number if I wanted a phone service from them. I argued and lost. I hope as likely most of us that the current experts are there at each business and are able to keep up with the criminal element.
      to look after security

I just got a note that my banking information has been breached and is on the dark web … I have AT&T and have only had it for a year. I also have a stalker of an ex. The combination of the two will probably ruin my financial life, which sucks since I was in finance for 20 years before my ex of 22 years ruined my career. And now this with AT&T? Gosh I’m so over this. I’ll never feel safe. And unless someone has been in my shoes it’s hard to describe the constant fear I live in daily. This only solidifies that there’s likely no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh

This hacking is VERY common, and VERY easy to protect against.

Don't agree. You have to give information to get an account, what makes it personal is that it's not public records. You can't just go to AT & T and demand information on someone. AT & T doesn't post it publicly. I guess by your logic your money in your bank isn't yours since you gave it to them right?
