The bulk of it punishing former account holders. All companies should be required to destroy customer records within a short time of canceling their services.
They keep that info for debt collection purposes more than likely. Just think of all the people that cancelled services only to be hit with $$$ penalties/fees.
I agree, At&T should be Required to destroy all old records. There's no good reason they need data from 63M former customers!
Nice to know they're resetting peoples passcodes.
But now these ppl are supposed to freeze their credit, & maybe change other info too, in other places.
@@koshnaranek2317 You'd think if the account was paid off and current for like 30 days after account closure they would delete this information.
I just posted my story if you care to read. 😢
And yet ATT is not accountable and the responsibility lies with the customers to do what?Yeah, robust investigation is going on!
Did you are did you not receive your 5 dollar credit?
@@fjb3544Did you say $5.00!How would and how does that have anything to do with someone's personal information being out in the open for the world to see?
@@fjb3544 😂
The amount of FORMER account holders is ridiculous, if I am no longer a customer you should destroy my information so that I am not at risk from your security any longer.
Class action lawsuit
So that is the real reason behind the cell blackout
Bet it happened when the network went down for about 12 hours
The data was stolen in 2019 and sold on the dark web in 2021. ATT denied the hack up until now. They only admit it now because the FCC as of March 13 2024 requires disclosure of breaches to the FBI and Secret Service 7 days after the company is aware.
I think it did. I found out by google sending me a notification about my old email address I don’t use. I hurried up and closed the email acct down and reported to the CFPB to make sure Att get reported
For sure!
I can definitely see someone filing a lawsuit against AT&T.
Great... last time this happened to me was in 2005 with Charter... I owned a home 3 states away and ruined my credit for 10 plus years.... AND they promised to pay for lawyer fees etc. All Bullsh1t.
One: a bad credit item only stays on your credit records for 7 years, not 10.
Two: If there was a data breach, that fact can be added to your credit records so those legitimately checking your credit can see it. Check the laws passed in 2003.
Three: victims of breaches are allowed free credit reports & many big companies provide private protection for at least a year. Charter is a big company.
It is reassuring that it is the responsibility of the consumer to be certain the data ATT sells is adequately managed.
AT&T fails at everything they do!
It’s impossible to protect, everyone is at risk
That's going to be a challenge a majority of people are broke or in debt 😅
The thieves should target the wealthy 😅
Yes when do we do the class action
First T-Mobile now at&t shocker . They never take security seriously 6 they keep paying the ceos million vs. hiring enough employees to accommodate the number of customers
That they denied it when it happened months ago
Supposedly this has been going on for about 5 yrs now. Just now learning about it.
Charming. We're quite the chosen lot. I have an idea. Keep private info off line.
How are you supposed to access data when it's stored offline? That's just stupid
The data was stolen from the ATT database and not from the customer.
@@sidhartharao2302you can 100% access data that’s offline as long as it’s connected to the broader network. Once the network is breached everything is fair game. It’s called lateral movement in the IT work. That’s why a lot of hackers target IoT devices due to weak security.
Thank You for letting us this Information.
I was worried until they used the word “robust” to describe the investigation
Now I feel better /s 🙄
😂
Intentional disclosure of data?
Why keep the old information? Sounds like they should be deleting it if they can't secure it
Linked to the blackout I bet
Yep, they've known a full month and didn't think they ought to give us a heads up.
Their leadership needs to face criminal charges.
Hey now… they made it right they gave you a 5 dollar credit.
It's not linked to the recent black out. Shiny Hunters hacked ATT in 2019 to get this database.
What a POS company😂😅
Why isn't the public more outraged by this? Why isn't the federal govt not doing more?
Everyone who could have been affected by this should shut down their credit at the three credit bureaus. Absolute bullcrap by ATT.
I wonder if this had to do with the whole day service outage months ago? I bet it does!
Is this the start of more breaches?
It has already been happening, big time. Even hospitals are not safe. It’s been in the news, though. Not a secret.
Remember AT&T’s outage last month? It’s more than just a data breach
AT&T smh
I haven’t been notified & I’ve been using at& t for years now! I’ll be looking into this for sure!
Which AT&T business units were impacted? All of them? Mobile, Direct TV?
This happened 11 days ago, and I just got an email from AT&T. GREAT!
Why would AT&T have my social security number? I do not recall them asking for that when I set up a phone and data account.
When ever you go to a phone company to set up an account they ask for your social security number so they can check your credit to see if you qualify for 0 down payment to finance a phone.
@@Jenkmode89 Ah, I see. I pay for my phone bill, but was not the account holder when i purchased my phone with my ex. So I guess that explains my not knowing about this.
What are the three credit bureaus?
Experian, equifax and transunion
Alot!
Well hopefully they fix my credit 😂
Right 😂
I’m confused by this, if AT&T has already reset our pass codes, how are we supposed to get back into our accounts? I use facial recognition to get into my account with my phone, and am nervous about manually signing out and then trying to sign in with my old passcode. In the past when I’ve had problems with AT&T, I have had to be on the phone for hours and hours and days and days at a time. So I’m just a little bit worried about that happening again. Does anybody have any advice on this?
FBI should be involved
They probably are, they are probably the ones stealing the data.
Att did it for free advertising. Lazy company.
AT&T investigates themselves, Nothing happened!
Good! This is one step closer to ending the madness of credit scores

Don’t worry!!! They will give you credit monitoring tho 🤣🙄
I was not notified
Thanks for offshoring everything. Its working out really great. Realy.
I like robust dressings, but robust investigations by corporations who don't care, I'm not really into that.
Once again no one cares about the employees that work for them
I have T-Mobile, so T-Mobile don’t have that actually just completely different
Why do they even have infronation of old customers???
They said TWO YEARS AGO, not two weeks.
Just freeze your credit. It’s not that hard to unfreeze it when you need to for a short while then putting the freeze back on.
First tmobile now at and t. Whos next verizon? What a joke
Jolene Kent is awfully smiley delivering her report. She got stock in T-Mobile? Centurylink?
5 dollar credits for all!
With proof of impact.
i want out contract wit nothing messing with credit

Puts on att
So ridiculous
Ridiculous that we are so invaded via our dependence on technology. The “Experts” in technology fail regularly in their field. Or… do they. Lol I suppose the true experts do not work for AT&T? The company should be responsible for the cleanup for ALL customers. Companies should stop passing the buck to consumers.
I got a message my stuff was found on the dark web a few days ago. Just what I needed in my life right now. Both exhausting and so wrong
Just focken great!!🤔
I got a email today but my plan should been canceled
Good thing that my credit is bad so they cannot open credit cards
Let’s say I’m a dumb car guy and I want to access this mystical”dark web”. How would one do so? Do I just ask google to take me to the dark web? 😮
😳😱😲🤦♀️

My Credit Improved 🤣
Class Action case
Pretty much. It happened when they had the black out 100%. They just won't admit
I’m getting a lot spam calls from India.
They sell service and products they practice cya
Theyre investigating themselves and found no wrong doing. 😂
Class action law suit time
Not a data breach. Every three letter government branch has the password.
The presenter is in Riga Latvia? Why? The breach itself probably originated in Eastern Europe.
China / Russia
