1969 Tonka Gas Turbine Cab Dump Truck No 2465 Semi Truck Restoration

- This 1969 Tonka Gas Turbine Cab Dump Truck was purchased as a lot with a bunch of Mighty Tonka Trucks by a very close friend in Lincoln, Ne the seller had the lot listed on Facebook exchange and I messaged him right away that I was interested and together we had it purchased the same day, I was super excited for this lot of toys. It was the only non Mighty Tonka in the lot and was in perfect shape for a restoration. The little dump truck was complete, just very well played with, the body didn't even have any dents outside of one very small one on the tailgate that I filled with powder primer and sanded smooth. The white walls were extremely brittle and had to be replaced, otherwise everything else was refurbished. The hardest part about this restoration was the windshield for me. I first washed the plastic, then sanded it with 800 grit all the way up to 3000 grit before polishing all sides, the inside was a huge challenge and took way longer than I planned on, There was a small chip on one side that I filled with UV epoxy and sanded smooth, once it was completely sanded I retro brighted the plastic to remove any internal yellowing and discoloration. Overall I'm extremely happy with how this toy came out and look forward to growing my collection by adding the Tonka Turbine Cab trucks to the collection. This opens up a ton of additional cool models that were produced from the mid 1960s to the late 1970s. Thank you for watching!

The sheep and Beaker are the best. All these Tonka toys remind me of building roads as a kid. Great times.
The Tonka's logo, appears and deappears...it's magic!! He, he. Good job.
That's what I thought too
Yeah. I was cringing as I watch him assemble it without the logo, thinking of how much disassembly and reassembly would be needed once he realized.
Lovely to see the sheep again
The quality of these videos just get better and better! Thank you for the time and effort you put into these. The cat outro and sheep intro make your videos unique, and I really appreciate that.
I can never get enough of the sand blasting and UV/peroxide yellowing treatment. So cool!
You should make a sheep compilation. They are so cute.
I love watching your restorations. And Beaker and the flock are added bonuses 🐈🐑
Outstanding restoration
Great video and perfect work! Cool
Beautiful restoration good job well done mister
Nice Joe keep up the good work most of the time.
After a busy and very loooong day with my son time to relax with a new Chip Channel upload. 😇
I do not know after looking at all your restoration what I like the most
Your restoration or your cat. I know as a cat lover it is your cat LOL:
It is a joy to follow your restoration work
Sir Chip, I have to say watching your videos in restoration on these Tonka toys bring back so many memories so much fun playing with them and watching you take them apart clean them up paint them and put them all back together just amazing very very good work you do appreciate all the videos you make thank you for bringing back childhood memories

Very nice work as always chip love that cat 😺 too tabby yes Lee
I Vote for the Merry Go Round to be the next to be restored. 🎠
Awesome, awesome!👍👍👍
Thanks! 👍
Awesome restoration. Gotta love Beaker at the end. Beautiful 😺 💕😊💕😺💕
Danke für das Video . Greetings from Germany .... :-)
Hello from United States! Thanks for watching!
Another fantastic Restoration !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two thumbs way Up !!!!!!!
Vintage toys I think stand the test of time. I think it's cool when they are brought back to life. Today's toys are so cheaply made compared to the old ones.
Maybe vintage toys were expensive and that's why they were high quality.
You make these restorations look better than new it seems, almost "Concours" perfection if I may say. Nicely done, Mr. Chip.
Thank you soo much! And thanks for watching!
thanks for the lovely veggies you may want to empty the box the money is oer flowing

Nice Pro You are amazing at refurbishing old cars. Love you from the Arabian Gulf, State of Kuwait 🇰🇼❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
More amazing work. Pleasure to watch.
At least that one sheep had his helmet on, safety first XD
Banged up your hand a little, I see ... take care ... You do wonderful work.
You do Amazing work and I so enjoy watching you transform beast into Beauty again. Thank you.
I know I am giving away my age but I love it when I see you restore toys that I had as a kid. Love seeing the process and the end results. Thanks!
I had this truck when I was just a wee lad.
Please do the truck with the carousel next!!🤩
Had the camper truck as a kid . Wanted Tonka Trucks so bad . Being a girl , my dad thought a camper would be best . So thank you dad , I still remember it , and saw it at the end of the video .
Fantastic job, Chip!
Perfect job as always. It was too beautiful. Thank you Chip🐑
It warms my heart to see you preserving these pieces of history. I wish I had some of my old childhood toys. I'd ask you or one of your kindred channels here on UA-cam to repair them.
I love watching these video. I only wish I had the money for all the equipment to do the same. Well Done!
@@escapecar I do have the Front Loader from the 60's or 70's I have started on and I do agree it is fun!
Have you tried to resurrect Structo Toys?
You are a Master in your art ….what an awesome collection…keep up the awesome restorations!!!!
The mystery of the Tonka sticker: I am here, then I disappear, then here I am again 😂.
Long live the sheep, and this channel...
I saw that too... Must have sucked to have to disassemble the cab again to put the sticker on!
And the back wheels were also spaced further apart after final assembly.
Im glad im not the only one who noticed
Amazing job as always
I really enjoy the panning shot of all the rusty crusty vehicles awaiting their time till it is their turn for you to work your magic on them. Another great video!
Superb! Another triumph! I’ll bet Tonka were not convinced their models would last as long as or look so good with some TLC! Thank you!
another stunner outstanding
never tired of shawn
You're the BEST, Man!
Excellant job on the windshield. It looked like new after you finished. Beautiful restoration.
Wow!! What a great job Chip. Usually you don't find the windshield in tact. When you are finished with each restoration, it makes me think of the original owner and how he/she felt when they first got the toy. You do these justice. I believe there is good karma going around for you. Thank you for sharing. I'd still like to see the merry-go-round restored.
That truck had to be outside in the grass for a long time. Thank you for making that look like new again.
Well done!
BETTER THAN NEW! Great job bringing the windshield back to life.
Много раз смотрел ваши видики. Блестящая работа. Не уставай. Желаю тебе всегда удачи. Миллионы лайки вам.
I subscribed a couple of weeks ago and went back and watched all your earlier videos. I was Jonesing for another one about now...
As usual, I am very impressed. You make the toys look like they just came from the factory.
A1 restoration better then new I used to love playing with these trucks
All of those Vantage Toys must worth a Fortune
Great Work!! That’s Fantastic!! 👍😁
I'm going to go out on a limb and say those white walls had seen better days.

Awesome job again Chip! Sweets for my eyes
Смотрел вместе с дочерью
И весь фильм «пап, а это что? А что дядя делает? А у вас в детстве были такие игрушки?»
The cab of that truck is what the cab of my Tonka car hauler looked like, l got for Christmas '68!
I love watching you fix all my old toys, so many good memories!
I'm soo glad you enjoy it as much as I do! Thanks for watching!
U jednom delu kad sklapas stavljas nalepnicu TONKA u sledećem pri sklapanju nalepnice nema. U svakom slučaju bravo na video.
LOL! I started watching this, and the first thing I heard myself say was, "Oh, yeah! The sheep are back!" (The last video I watched didn't have any)
Yeah, I looked for the sheep as soon as the video started. Lol. 😄😄😄🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Gotta have the sheep
Me too
Yay!
Yes the sheep are back so all's well! Suddenly had this weird vision of an alternative world where sheep drag broken humans off a pile and restore them. lol
Don’t ever lose the cat! He’s the best!!
Thanks Top Cat! Her name is Beaker and she loves to inspect the cars and trucks, although she now requires payment for inspections.... Hard to find cheap help haha
Потрясающее мастерство и не менее потрясающая коллекция!
Love the video and the job you do on your projects is masterclass!
Thank you very much!
very nice work hard
By the time you get done the restoration it looks like you just bought it from the store great JOB
I so wish I was your best friend and next door neighbor if only just to visit the sheep. 🤣Another great restoration.
Doesn't get any better than this. Thank you again for this wonderful dominical offering!
Thank you!
THE BEFORE AND AFTER SHOTS. 🤓👍🏾NICE WORK
Imagine putting this whole thing together to only take it apart for a TONKA sticker lol. Great job as usual
Wow my family has this in good condition in a blue and white model.

Amazing. I so appreciate the effort you put in to this. Even the sweeping of the metal shavings. Great job.
You are a professional and an artist
Le pecore sono grandiose! I risultati del tuo lavoro dimostrano la tua abilità e la pazienza. Comlimenti.
Awesome! Looks like brand new. Well done (again).
I love the preparation stages, pulling to pieces ,sand blasting ,undercoating it's very relaxing. I could sand blast stuff all day..
That was a labor of love. Thanks.
Anyone else all excited about plastic interior, rubber bumper, and a working dump lever?! Little things, but added a whole new level of detail and play fun.
Restoration is your talent man
عمل رائع ومتقن وجميل وممتع شكرا
لك اتمنى لك التوفيق والمزيد من الإبداع
Quite a fleet you're amassing there Chip! Great restoration job as always!
Another better than new restore! I may have watched too many of these though, I'm starting to see Tonka stickers appear then disappear then reappear again on the front of the dump truck. 🙃
Me too, I saw the same thing 😅🤣👍🏼💙✌🏼
Muy buenas restauraciones chip👍
