- Tottenham lost to Bayern Munich 2-1 in their final game of the Asian Pre-Season Tour. This was Tottenham's first defeat of pre-season, but will get the chance to get revenge on Bayern next Saturday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Despite a poor first half in which Tottenham struggled, there were some positives to take from the performance including another excellent display from Lucas Bergvall, a wonder striker from Pedro Porro as well as another encouraging performance from Yves Bissouma. Here's What We Learned!

Should Lucas Bergvall START vs Leicester? 👀
100%
@@Tekkerzmbappe I'd love to see it. Biss-Sarr-Bergvall
I love how Bergvall takes the ball on the half turn, a massive advantage for Ange Ball.
Yesss!!
Hi Ben, really enjoyed the positive and insightful analysis. I’m not sure it is so important who starts the first game - last season Emerson started ahead of Porro. I think the youngsters will be most impactful in last 20/30 mins of games, which tend to be the most crucial.
I’d really like to see us ease him in for the first couple of months, not starting him for the first few games and not against the top teams at all. He should have a senior player ahead of him that can take the bulk of the pressure and responsibility, it’s a bit unfair to ask him to be the main guy from the get go. Unfortunately, the main guy Maddison isn’t really doing it at the moment, hence an Eze deal or someone like him could be crucial. However, unlike Maddison, Bergvall might be even more suited as an 8 so if Madders get his act together it would be interesting to see them play together as well.
I genuinely believe he's ready. Not saying he has to come in and be the main man, but it's about balance in that Midfield. I believe Bissouma-Sarr-Bergvall is the best balanced Midfield to start that first game of the season. Eze is crucial personally
I had not seen your work before; very impressive, young man. As an old, American, baseball analytics guy, your analysis is something I really appreciate.
Very well done
Thank you very much!
That goal wasn’t Spence’s fault. 100% for Vicario. Risky pass when he could’ve just sent it long.
Yeah totally agree that's what I was saying
I reckon we’ll get Solanke which would be class
I'd love Solanke - hopefully moves along this week
@@BenBowman_ Whats so special about solanke of you compare him and richi its not much different in stats
@@LinusBurefjordwhat’s the difference between toney and solanke?😭 and everyone’s raving about toney like he’s the best thing on planet earth
@@siddhantoberoi8000 would prefer gyoekeres
@@LinusBurefjord video on the channel tomorrow mate
Bergvall won't and shouldn't start. He was absolutely blowing after 20 mins and doesn't have the engine at this moment. I'm sure he'll get lots of minutes off the bench to begin with, and over time, he will then start games. Pleased to see Gray struggle to make it obvious to some of the deluded fans that were saying he HAS to start and is world class after a few good friendly performances where he was playing at CB and mostly is afforded more time on the ball than would be in the middle of the park. Both players look like they have massive potential and hopefully will be massive players for us fairly shortly...but its not going to happen from the first game of the season
Was he blowing after 20? I'm not sure hw was
@BenBowman_ Yeah, he was. After we had given the ball away at the back he was trying to cover and did ok helping vicario regain the ball but then you could see him in our area blowing heavily trying to catch his breath and looking lethargic. Continued to play well after when on the ball but he was much less intense without it. Ange said about it after the K league game, so I was trying to look out for signs. With Ange wanting our pressing game to be extremely intense, after his comments (and in comparison his praise of Sarr's engine helping us a lot) it seems unlikely that he will start against Leicester
@lesliecrawford783 if that was the case, Ange wouldn't have specifically said about it after the K league game. We know they were all tired after the double training sessions of the week and the games in the heat so they all looked leggy, but Ange has specifically mentioned Bergvall and his ability to maintain his physical output which would suggest he is consistently able to produce less than the other players - at this stage of his development
Bergvall has to start. On form, he’s giving us much more composure, creativity and strength than madders. Agree with your Leicester 11, but it really lays bare the need for better attacking options. If all fit, we’d credibly have Richi, Timo, Moore and Will L as backups (possibly donley, don’t think Solomon offers anything). With our main striker (Richi) injured, it doesn’t say much for depth the next best option is Kulu (although he’s played well). I like Johnson, but also need someone to at least challenge him. No idea how realistic this is, but you add Solanke and one of Neto or Eze to that group and it feels completely different. Given fairly realistic potential incomings, what changes for your 11 for Leicester?
Agree mate
For me, and im not even saying I think Bergvall is ready yet, but Maddison has been terrible and we have no other option, Bergvall should start.
My proffered line up isnt me saying this is whats going to win a league, its unfortunately more that I dont think we have amazing options, and we need to do certain things to up our chances.
I would put Porro right wing, Spence Right back. Bergvall over Maddison. The rest of the defence names itself. Then Son has to be somewhere up top. Everything else, meh, I dont know, throw some sticks up and see where they land.
I guess go with kulu as the striker, Son on the left.
Then the two midfielders left to pick, dunno. I havent really been overly impressed with anyone. I really dont know who Id pick.
We need a couple in before that first game
High press Bayern overwhelmed Spurs.
Obviously Kulu striker position he couldn't get a ball with intense Kim the back.
True
And I appreciated the REM reference 😀
HAhahaha LOSING MY RELIGIONNNN

Great Analysis 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you Neil!
I think he's made up ground, but I still think you got to give the edge to Maddison. I could see him stealing more time as the season progresses. Also a little more impressed w/ Donley at LB. When players go on loans, can the loaner dictate what position the player can play?
Yeah that's fair mate
Bergval > Maddison
Right now, agree
Where do you see Madders if its biss, sarr, berg?.
Rotation lots of rotation with this midfield this year it’s great to have options
@@BenBowman_ yeah its good to have options but i think madders will start not berg.
Spence isn't good enough at left back imo. I would play vdv romero dragusin back 3, udogie?(if fit) or moore left wing back porro right wing back bissouma at 6 Bergval 8 Eze?(i hope ) at 10, Son and Solanke up front.
If we don't get Eze i would play Biss at 6 Sarr at 8 Bergval at 10.
If we dont get Solanke play Richie if fit otr Kulu at 9.
Bench
Kulu Maddison Richie (if still here), Davies Johnson Werner Bentancur Lo Celso Gray Spence Austin
Yeah Spence has got a lot to learn
thought dragusin was extremely poor our only cb in the squad getting shown up by emerson, tbh i dont think hes had a good preformance for us besides against shefield, for a ball playing defender he look so jittery and uncomposed on the ball its strange
I think that's harsh to be honest. He wasn't great, but he's hardly had any minutes yet, played 20/25 in the last game off the back of a rest after the EUROS and we all struggled to cope with Bayern. Emerosn was good, but he's had a full pre-season. Radu hasn't
@@BenBowman_ Harsh call for me, just got back from a break and was clearly off it, we all know he is better than that, a better call would have been Madders STILL way off since injury and never found his early season form, a big concern.
@@TooDarnSoulful totally agree
