The history of this festival is that Sadhaba (merchants) from Odisha used to go Bali for business on the day Kartika Purnima ( a holy date in Hindu Calendar). Bali was isolated and didn't get attacked or subjugated for a very long period of time, until Dutch came to Indonesia, therefore the culture flourished and prospered. Similarity to Bali can also we found in Southern India too, there is too much subtleness and intricacy in the culture over there. On the other hand Northern India had to face invasion after invasions and culture was damaged somewhat, over here and the old kingdoms of Gandhara and Sindh i.e, current day Pakistan is completely lost to the invasions.
