If Stone Cold isn't a 10, nothing is. Flawless and perfect. What Joe can do with a guitar, Jimmy can do with a mic; they're a heavenly match. Production is spot on, the band is outstanding. If you did a new reaction to this song every day, I'd come back here for eternity.
Goosebumps! I've lost count of how many nights I've sat down to this and just gotten lost in the combination of magic. Every single time leaves me with chills. Just so so very perfect.
I forgot the whole reason I was supposed to come in in the first place. Stone Cold by Jimmy Barnes with Joe bonamassa-Shelby countered forever is one of the great blues rock and roll songs ever-absolutely superb.
It was worth the wait. It really is a gift for your earholes, Jimmy was 58 here ffs, he's something else and Joe's intro and solo are jaw dropping, Jimmy's son Jackie on drums too. Then Mahalia (Mahaylia), she's a powerhouse and successful in her own right, but they all still regularly perform together, all four kids and Jane, whoever happens to be in the same place at the same time. Totally enjoyed the hell out of this, as expected, thank you boys. ❤
Thanks, Tania bear..... I'm still blown away from this - Whilst editing this, I sat back in AWE again, the vocals and @uck... the guitar solos. Just brilliant - Cheers Alex

Its quite amazing. As you say the list is very long. I also remember Bon Scott, Billy Thorpe, Stevie Wright, Glen Shorrock, Colin Hays, Jon English, Swannee, Jim Keays, and Ted Mulry.
“‘Stone Cold’ wasn’t written for Jim,” Don Walker . “I quickly identified as I was writing it as something that would be perfect for Jim”. ‘Stone Cold’ pretty much wrote itself after Don dropped his daughter off at school. “It was written in the first year that I had custody of my little girl Danielle,” he said. “I had put her into, what I thought on paper should be, a good school. It was a private girl’s school in Rose Bay. Each morning I would drive her from King’s Cross out there in her little school uniform and then drive back to the Cross and probably some mornings go back to bed. On this particular morning I wrote this song driving back from Rose Bay in real time. There was very little that wasn’t written in that drive. Between the hill above Rose Bay along the waterfront through Double Bay to Kings Cross, Stone Cold was written. As I was writing it, I knew it would be a lyric, melody and genre of music that would be perfect for Jim”. 😎👍
Jimmy was 52 at the time Still singing had to cancel his tour for hip operation But recovering now and touring with his kids at moment Because still recovering and not up to full concert to by himself
I have followed Jimmy almost right from the very start-he's early days with chisel-then all of his solo stuff-all of these collaborations-almost everything he has ever done-I have yet to speak about a bad performance-this man is an absolute God and legend-Aziz Joe where is brilliance when it comes to days men-4 surely they were given a talent by God only to make their brothers and sisters happy-god bless them. One of these days, you gotta hear Swanee, John Swan, Jimmy's older brother. Jimmy took on his step father's name of Barnes. Anyway, you can still hear the resemblance of vocals with him too, Jimmy reckons it comes from their mum, who was a total pocket rocket. Haven't listened to thin Lizzy for yonks, so am looking forward to tomorrow's show. 💕

Really Terrific Review. 30, 40, probably more times I’ve listened to Jimmy Joe and band. No, felt the music through my whole body. From gentle to powerful, the music moves right though you. Every instrument, perfect. Oh a double? Bring it on. Mahalia, another brilliant Barnsey. Too much talent in talent in that family 👍
Just listened to Stone Cold for the first time. Great stuff, no doubt, but part way through Joe’s performance I found myself wishing that it was Mossy on guitar. The phrases were cool, and very much on point for a blues song, but being pretty familiar with Ian Moss’ guitar work from Chisels and Ian’s solo stuff, both live and in the studio, I just know that without a doubt it would have been on another level with Ian’s sensitivity to guitar tone. It may be unfair as a comparison, since Mossy typically used a Strat and Joe’s here on a Les Paul. I’ve long held the belief that Gibsons like the Les Paul and the SG faithfully reproduce the sound of a guitar, just louder, whereas Strats and Teles add a flavour. It’s like a Les Paul is a beautiful woman but a Stratocaster is a beautiful and exotic woman. I can’t explain it much better than that, but in that solo Mossy would’ve been flicking between pickups, rolling volume on and off to break up the signal or get it cleaned up, all whilst turning out some really individual licks and phrases. Nothing against Joe here, it sounded exactly like you’d anticipate a great blues guitar solo to sound. But it never went beyond that in the way Mossy would have. Just saying that I wish I could’ve heard it with Ian on the guitar.
When 2 music legends join up the results are fantastic. Magic is the right word here. Classic blues. Beautiful. Jimmy's son on drums and his daughter singing backup. Joe also teamed up with Mahalia Barnes on "Riding With The Kings"
Jimmy really was always a soul singer. Yes he kills a rock song, but even he himself has always said soul is what he grew up with and where he feels most at home. There is something about F sharp minor that just digs at the heart strings. Joe doesn’t play the guitar, he becomes the guitar!
Since you first played Stone Cold on Oz week 1 Barnsey has been on my play list ever since. I went on ( thanks to you two & Chris ) to Have a deep dive and found his daughter, again with Joe B and what a tour de force she is. Loving them both and i'm sure my neighbours do to.
The Barnes family is very gifted vocally. I met a street performer (who made some poor life choices and couldn't go public - his words) and he was Jimmy's cousin and he had an amazing voice (same repertoire and power). Jimmy also used to get his kids to sing at annual Christmas "Carols by candlelight" in Australia (they were called "The Tin Lids" / Aussie rhyming slang for "kids") and they used to steal the show even when they were around 5ish years old (I can't memba exactly, it was a long time ago).
TY Guys so very much for returning to Jimmy Joe and the guys doing this track, I recall at a Chisel Concert back in the late 80's in Sydney Jimmy requesting that they do this for a special friend and they did it to perfection, but this recording kicks it into a new level. brilliantly recorded and played. I think I agree with Alex on "Stone Cold," it's about an 8 for me -- the performance was a 9, the song itself is about a 7, so that averages out to 8. Bonus track was interesting, too.
I thought you gents had already reacted to this? I fact, I thought I had learned about it from you! Fantastic of course. Btw, have tkts to see Joe in August…including soundcheck. I’m pumped! 😁
Both videos appear to be recorded in Joe’s own recording studio with his own “ house” band. I believe an impromptu recording of an already old Barnes gem. I’m surprised it was not specified as on Joe’s own record label. Recall an interview with Joe from earlier this year...... A friend suggested he meet up with Tommy Emmanuel, so phone calls were made and a meeting organised at Joe’s Guitar Ranch. Joe was running late ( business ) and when he arrived his own students were crowded around Tommy who was playing for them. Joe did not announce himself but sat back and listened....... and then it dawned on him. In less than 3 minutes Tommy had played more chords than Joe knew existed. Of course , Tommy doesn’t really learn chords...... he knows every note on the fretboard and more and which ones go together and which ones don’t. lol
Good morning really enjoyed todays videos. Have a request as a bonus track for Thin Lizzy Don't Believe A Word Featuring Gary Moore, rest in peace Live at BBCTv 1979 the Old Grey Whitle Test!!!! Just a little tribute to one of the best Guitar Players of my time. Be great if you could slip this one in as a tribute Thanks

I think I agree with Alex on "Stone Cold," it's about an 8 for me -- the performance was a 9, the song itself is about a 7, so that averages out to 8. Bonus track was interesting, too.
You can hear Jimmy's glesca accent.🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧
Not sure about that!
watch these two do a version of the deep purple song lazy it is amazing and bang on

I thought you gents had already reacted to this? I fact, I thought I had learned about it from you!
Fantastic of course. Btw, have tkts to see Joe in August…including soundcheck. I’m pumped! 😁
Another track they did but not this one. Hope you enjoy the show
Both videos appear to be recorded in Joe’s own recording studio with his own “ house” band.
Of course , Tommy doesn’t really learn chords...... he knows every note on the fretboard and more and which ones go together and which ones don’t. lol
Great story. Thanks
Good morning really enjoyed todays videos. Have a request as a bonus track for Thin Lizzy
