Main Hoon Na was such a feel good movie, I remember I just passed my board exams at that time and summer vacation just started we gathered at one of my friends place and watched this movie together while thinking about this is going to be our college life next year haha. This was pre social media era 2004.
Can we take a minute to celebrate how wonderfully this video deep dives into so many facets of this iconic movie...!! Enjoyed watching this just as much as I enjoyed the film so a big thank you.
The final scene of exchange of prisoners across the border doing Sajda/ rubbing sand to the forehead “always” brought tears to my eyes - And it happened always no matter how many times I saw this film, each time that scene came i would cry by default - Love love mein Hoon Na! Love from 🇵🇰
Loved the shout out to Murli Sharma...his is a performance that deserves some love in the film, the little shifts he does in expression before even he shifts, it shows him having a conscience against the fanaticism
After that movie , the serial bomb blasted all over that country lasted till 2013, Congress tried to bring the Hindu terrorism angle n it failed. We haven't gone backwards ,we are now actually safe under a so called Dictator. Remember "A Wednesday" movie u will get what i am saying
Wow, this was such a fun, down the memory lane retake. I’d forgotten all about it. Suddenly all the memories associated are back. I was in school, the movie became a phenomenon back then as everyone was raving about it. The iconic songs, dialogues and a great cast. Thank you FC for revisiting Main Hoon Na 💛
Watching Main Hoon Na in a packed theatre was an absolute riot!! I clearly remember it released on 30th April 2004 and I watched it on 5th of May which is happened to b my birthday with the money I got from home, so it's a childhood nostalgia...simply those were the days❤❤
Gonna watch Main Hoon Naa again …. Beautiful times when it released back then. 20 years have passed. Have watched it quite a few times. Was the best family watch during the weekends. I remember Star Gold or some other Star channel always used to show it. Good times! Shah Rukh Khan is the embodiment of everything right and great with a Bollywood Hero. What a phenomenon! Love him. Love the film. Hope Farah and SRK make another blockbuster that makes 3000 cr worldwide. 😊
18:56 Suniel Shetty didn’t win the filmfare award that year. He was nominated for Best Vilain but Priyanka Chopra won for Aitraaz according to Wikipedia. Rahul is probably thinking of when Suniel Shetty won it for Dhadkan in 2001.
A big reason for the success of this film was the incredible music by Anu Malik and the 2 iconic songs by Sonu Nigam (Main Hoon Na & the qawwali). 20 years later, he still sings these songs in his concerts to 1000s of people across the world and gets an amazing response.
Loved watching this movie on the big screen in 2024. Sush was gorgeous and SRK was incredible and so is Farah’s directorial debut. Miss those days and miss movies like Main Hoon Na! Nostalgia. Can’t believe it’s been 20 years…god I’m old 😅
I remember going to a theatre to watch Main Hoon Na with my brother in a nearby theatre. This was a good couple of weeks after the film's release in the main theatres in Thrissur city, my hometown, and we weren't allowed to travel that long as we were kids. So we went to the nearby theatre, a B centre theatre I think it was classified as. This predated online booking, so our only option was to look at the newspaper cinema section and trust it, although papers sometimes got it wrong. So we went to the theatre, and the theatre had a huge cut out of Shah Rukh Khan, so we thought the film was Main Hoon Na. We bought the tickets and were so excited to watch the film, so we didn't even look at the tickets to know what movie it was. As the screening started, it said 'Gemini' (the Vikram film). We weren't in the mood to watch that film, so we exited the theatre so disappointed. But then we saw the film a few months later on TV, and we loved it.
I love Main Hoon Na. I was in junior school when this movie came and my sister in senior school. And we watched it together on our desktop. We had all the songs memorised, all the gags and jokes worked amazingly for us and they still do. SRK movies in the 2000s was my intro into cinema. I wanted to be in a college like the one they showed in this movie and we didn't leave any chance in my college days to perform on any of the songs from this movie. We even recreated the Qawwali.
Thanks for doing this! I rewatched MHN after ages this weekend with my kids. I remembered the main characters (big SRK fan, no surprise 😅) but had forgotten Murali Sharma was in the movie. The funny thing is my kids immediately recognized him as the dad from Ala Vaikuntapuramlo. I am glad he is finally getting his due as an actor!
Hi Anupama and Rahul, thank you so much for these lovely FC Retake episodes! Requesting you to please do a Retake on ek main aur ek tu (starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor) as that film has been one of my favourite comfort watches for a very very long time and I genuinely believe that it was a little far ahead of it's time when it released
Farah Khan movies have legendary comic scenes. Still can't forget the scene in TMK where a villager having albino is cast as a Britisher. Only Farah can write and direct such crazy hilarious scenes.😂
As a diasporan, MHN was the first time I saw an Indian movie with a Western/ Hollywood sense of humor and comedic timing, so for me it was the first Bollywood comedy I could really access comedically, and I enjoyed it thoroughly! I still recommend this movie as a "gateway drug" for diasporans who have never seen an Indian film (or esp a comedy). The recent movie Madgaon Express is its spiritual descendant in terms of using western comedic timing & sensibilities to convey Indian humor.
One of my favourite Hindi films. I play the songs regularly via UA-cam videos from movie. Great entertainment, funny with really good good music, acting and action. So needed during these dark times. Thank you Farah Khan and company.
Can Rahul do a Baazigar episode already? He mentions it in any Srk related episodes and in here too he brought up thrice. I assume he still gets surprised if he sees Shipla shetty alive in real :P
Right.. sometimes it's necessary to give them feedback. All the previous retakes Rahul has not watched the movie and start giving reviews. Also in previous retakes episodes they forgot about songs choreography and music.it hurts when they were not talking abt Dil se music songs.
Suniel Shetty as Raghavan was the best part in Main Hoon Na. Anna's attitude, dialogue delivery, bad ass look, killer action and a superlative performance made it a character to remember for ages👍
Meri memory: Main gori gori song me jo entry sequence tha srk ka wo me hamesha try karta tha... And .. Srk and Zayed Khan used to do with his hands I and my brother also used to do the same❤❤
While I agree that the nationalism of today is obscene and ugly and makes me nostalgic for the OG patriotism, let us not forget that Pakistan hating (as code for Islamophobia) was rampant even then. The reason Gadar 2 was such a blockbuster, was because Gadar itself was one. What hasn't changed even though the times have, is SRK. Love is his language.
Thank you for bringing back fc retake. Have watched all previous episodes ans enjoyed this one too! Don’t agree that casting Bindu was iconic though. Helen was cast in Mohabbatein back in 2000 and had a dance séquence to one of her old songs. So Bindu in Main Hoon Naa wasn’t really novel. Om shanti om was a lot more original in that sense
I thought MHN was really smartly written in that they were not taking themselves too seriously at all, except for when the Project Milaap stuff was going on.
These guys revisited and praised Bombay Velvet 😅. After few years, they may revisit 'Happy New Year ' and will term it as a cult movie. Anupama will brag about SRK, choreography and the other person will talk about how the world was different back then.
When Scorseses and Kubricks were busy racking their brains on world's best cinema, bolly was busy churning no brainers like Coolie or Don.....and now we discuss in great detail this Class 3 movie that did not really break any ground....the problem lies in our reference points...the moment we raise our standards of referencing we will have great cinema ahead
This movie reminded me the industry should’ve recognised Sushmita Sen as an absolute icon. Also, the sarees were a separate character too.
Aariya was her break-through performance in her web series. @@razamustafa568
Sushmita was the magic
AVERAGE ACTOR AT BEST

Main Hoon Na was entertaining because it reflected Farha s passion for Indian cinema of the 70s !

The whole point about shift in nationalism perspective and how we have gone backwards was on point! Amazing that you guys analyzed it this way!

You guys missed Boman Irani’s really funny ties (7 dwarves, Tom and Jerry, superman) which were really ridiculous for a principal to wear!

I remember growing up as an Srk fan in the middle of action film lovers. This film was my answer to them, dekho mera hero bhi action kar sakta hai🔥🔥
Suniel shetty is also a 90s superstar. He was a action king of 90s and 2000 era. Main hoon na k hit hone ki wajah ye bhi h.
Thank you so much for doing this, team FC! Truly loved every bit of it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cannot imagine this movie being made today especially Suniel Shettey's character

ANUPAMA CHOPRA ON THE SETS OF ‘MAIN HOON NA’ picture reveal when?
Haha! We’ll let them out someday! *shhh*
I am going to watch it right now after watching this discussion
One of the few true masala films which mastered the action, love, drama and comedy genres. Also very high rewatch value!
To give context, 26/ 11 mumbai attack of 2008 is the only factor which inversed the villain of main hoon na(2004) to it being hero now in 2024
They should release Raghvan's Background theme. It was badass.
Rakhi Sawant is a good actor, dancer and entertainer she is natural I wish the industry used her in right way like Farah did back then
Doesn't anyone notice the cameo of Tabbu for just one or two seconds?
I thought MHN was really smartly written in that they were not taking themselves too seriously at all, except for when the Project Milaap stuff was going on.
Rahul should take a break from Ranbir and do an episode on Fardeen or Zayed.
Mumbai has faced worst kind of terrorist attacks in last 30 years all sponsered by Pakistan, somehow Bollywood wants all of us to love Pakistan
