What are your favorite niche fragrances? Also small disclaimer this video was not sponsored by any of the perfumers mentioned I genuinely love these fragrances I got!
I’ve been into: Santal Precieux by Caron Fig Infusion by Essential Parfums African Leather by Memo Paris My vibe is kinda.. Tea, florals, woods. Like deep and calming scents.
i'm always hesitant to watch a fragrance video bc 99% of the time it's a scentbird sponsored video, but you legit gave us niche, worthwhile recommendations. serious props!
I mean, the brands that he showed and the way he described them, probably sponsored this video... But there is nothing wrong with that. You still get information and useful tips. I also like that he is recommending unknown fragrances and not the same Le Male Elixir that all the others pushing right now.Its just that when you are buying a fragrance, use your own mind.
@@WhiteRangerTPI was not sponsored by any of the perfumers I genuinely wanted to highlight some smells I’d like other to know about it’s more fun that way
@@JeuneF I find it even funnier when they start telling us how they smell the Tonka bean the cinnamon a little bit of lavender. Oh I smell some coffee bean sometimes it’s hilarious how long it takes them to go over the scent and make it sound like they know exactly what it is and then they say in the end, let’s see what’s really in here. Lmao
150 Fragrances deep into my fragrance journey, most of them niche, I would like to state that my journey was way too deep... I think people are way too esoteric about chosing a fragrance. Do you like it? Then you should wear it. Maybe get a 2nd opinion from your partner or friends. A lot of people don't even wear fragrances, so anything but the absolute best sellers will be unfamiliar to a lot of people. If you wear a fragrance at all (at least as a man) you are already way ahead of at least 70% of the population. Sure if you are in a bubble of fashionistas people might all wear fragrances and nerd out about it but the regular people don't. I don't subscribe to signature fragrances either. How often do you need to meet a person to get them to understand that it is you they smell? And what if they hate it? Especially at work or with a partner... Wear something appropriate for the temperature or adjust your sprays accordingly if you must wear tobacco vanille in the summer or mugler cologne in the winter. You need to get close to a person to smell their perfume with most perfumes. I dress like your everyday guy on the street but I wear exquisite fragrances. Except for my girlfriend and good friends i get close to pretty much no one notices or comments. I do have stuff that fills up a room. I just think that is not what a perfume should do in most occasions. You could go into the artisanal oud deep end. You could go into bespoke fragrances. You can explore arabian perfumery and attars. That would make what you wear more unique. But even things as popular as Aventus are something you rarely smell. As far as favourite scents go I really like Thirty Three by Ex Idolo, which is an amazing metallic rose and oud combo. But as I said, I have a lot of fragrances and I like to rotate them, so I would just suggest trying out perfume, trying to understand the craftsmanship behind them and if you love something to not overthink it.
This 100%, fantastic comment and i subscribe to this totally, also a thing i'd like to add, if you like some designer fragrances just go for it, don't snob them just because they're designers at the end of the day if you like it that's all that matters, and besides noses desiging those are still some of the best in the industry that also work on niche ones
Being a guy in the same boat as you, yeah, we did go too deep. People make too big of a deal choosing what fragrance they wear, and try to compare a fragrance that they like, according to how popular it is. If it's too popular then they think its "basic" and "smells bad", but like you said, the majority of the population doesn't even wear perfumery on the daily, so wearing a fragrance at all is already a step above others. In my opinion, it's as simple as sample, sample, sample. Just find what you truly like and buy it. Other people's opinions on what's "basic" or "popular" shouldn't hinder what fragrance you wear or enjoy. Just enjoy the olfactory experience and leave it at that!
This is 100% the best comment/advice provided here. Try out something new and different. Wear it for yourself, not others. Don’t just wear something because it’s niche or different. Wear what you like.
Another thing to keep in mind is, some people wear fragrances in order to "appeal" or be "attractive" to others, not necessarily to be "unique". Although people rag on Dior Savage and other designer fragrances the truth is they are mass appealing and most people like the smell. For me I like to wear fragrances that most people will generally enjoy but is still sort of a niche. Remember that most people don't wear fragrances so wearing one is already a step ahead.
Exactly what I was thinking throughout the entire video. It’s not always about being unique, sometimes you just want to feel elevated, and most fragrances will do that, mainstream or niche.
Lets be real, like 80%+ of men don't wear fragrances regularly. And men can be cheap, so those designers you think eveyone wears like Chanel. Most guys wouldn't own. Just wearing any fragrance will be unique to most people. And also know high end niche scents are funky to almost eveyone around you.
@@jackattack347 never buy niche, unless you can sample them. I've found lots of the higher end fragrances can be off-putting to most people who aren't into fragrances. Outside of a handful that get criticism for being too "safe" like Creeds or whatever popular/expensive fragrances people think are the best. I've always found every "dark" fragrances, like the ones he's into, as gross to most people, they can come off as a rotting wood smell, or grandpa aftershave vibe. Always sample, even if you have to spend a little more than what you think you should for a sample. It'll help you in the long run from buying an expensive fragrance you'll never wear outside of home, or only on tester strips.
Also, many of them don't shower regularly, I mean everyday, 2 time, and many of them don't even put deodorant on. But just because they don't, doesn't mean you don't have to
@@ko77938 I know plenty of guys who think a scented body wash is good enough. Or they get a nice bar soap from the commercials and think it's just as good as a fragrance (it's not), and they'll save their Sauvage or whatever their girlfriend/wife/women in their family got for them for special occasions.
The name speaks by itself. Fashion elitist is not a coincidence. @@GoldGn111 I agree with smelling unique allways but our skin ph and hormones make every perfume unique but you have to be a dog to notice the difference.
Complicating a pretty simple concept - always wear what appeals to you and you will land on the scents that reflect who you are. Sure you can use fragrance to as part of dressing up/to complete a look, but you don’t always need to fall into the pretensions of niche fragrance to find unique scents that may appeal or reflect you.
Nah, fragrance has nothing to do with what you wear. It is a completely different world which has more to do with your character, what you are doing, if you are a father or a child, if you are going to school or if you work. If you are on a date or with your friends. If you are doing sports or going to bed at night. If you just wanna feel fresh. That has nothing to do with a T-Shirt man.
Fragrance, like fashion, has one rule: If you love it, wear it. The problem is most people get trapped by ideas about what others think, what they're supposed to do, or just get lost trying to be something they are not. Unlearning all of that, and truly listening to your tastes, is much harder than doing what someone else tells you.
First of all, most people dont give a damn about fragrances, majority of them don't even wear anything. Just wear what you like and be happy with it, it's just a fragrance.
This. I’d say about 80% of men don’t even wear a fragrance. The other 15% wear one of the top sellers (Sauvage/1Million/Invictus/etc) which they got as a gift on their bday, and the other 5% are into fragrances like us. So just wear what you like. Besides, whatever you wear will smell different and unique on you as it will blend in with your own pheromones
I own over 40 fragrances niche and designer. Dior savauge is still the compliment king .there’s a reason savauge resells for a crazy price . You’re supposed to wear frags for yourself not others
i'm a woman and i personally base my fragrance choices on mood or how i want to feel that day, and the core of my personality. and of course on what my nose likes. that's why my every day scents are usually sweet, fruity, floral, not too strong or overbearing and a little playful. i genuinely love fruity scents and want to come across as approachable. but sometimes i wear something a little louder and more seductive, darker, when you just want to feel sexy and confident! and when i want to stand out or feel a bit moody, i have that one fragrance that doesn't really smell typical to me, but it makes sense to wear it in that mood. so yeah, i have a few of them, but each of them has something special that stands out and makes me feel different. i try to keep my collection small tho, only buying what i truly truly love and see myself wearing. i'm looking forward to finding more scents since i'm new to this whole world of fragrances. it's been an exciting journey so far!
Niche is awesome, but can be pretty spendy. Definitely worth the price, most of the time, but a good niche house, that is quite affordable, is Mancera.
there's nothing niche about mancera and you can find on the grey market actual quality niche houses (nicolai, parfum d'empire, villoresi, heeley etc) for the same price of a mancera
Unfortunately it goes both ways 😅 yes some areas people know certain fragrances because they are worn often by many people, but other areas know nothing about these popular fragrances and you can make a killing with them. I happen to live in an area unfamiliar with dior sauvage and get showered with compliments when I wear it. Also, you have to consider that a popular fragrance is popular for a reason. Often times people don’t care that they’ve smelled it on others, they’d love that scent on just about anyone if it’s good enough. I had a woman say she bought it for her husband and her friends were all raving about it with her after catching a whiff off me. So even though I was using a fragrance owned by her husband, she was still all over the scent.
True, niche niche fragrances are not really to mass appeal. It is rather something that is an unique/artistic experience for yourself and also a memorable distinct smell that will stick to peoples brains more than a basic but also good smell. It is not mass appealing but it is so much to explore that it is a good chance that you will find something personal that you like more than the basic safe fragrances.
Niche needs to be mass appealing too. If you look at public reactions to fragrances, most of them like easily digestible scents. Aquatic, fruity, floral, woodsy, etc. Other notes like leather, tea, fougere, animalic ,seaweed are just not very appealing. These can actually counteract people's perception of you
Unique fragrances mostly dont have free, anonymous to use samples in drug stores. So i sadly have to skip on this one and listen to Sophie by Uche Yara instead
Why are you giving the guy pressure? He is suggesting unknown fragrances that most people never heard about. Are also giving pressure to the youtubers that make top 10 lists twice a day and recommending Le Male Elixir 24/7?
I feel like colour matching is a bit too serious/stiffling but for sure matching scent dnas with vibes is good. I never wear DHP or tuxedo with a white shirt and I'd never wear something like eros or born in roma with a suit. for me the more layered the fit, the more complex the scent, which works with the weather too since deeper scents are usually better for winter
About Inexcusable Evil. Bought it as a joke for my bf but ended up liking it. I grew up in rural Romania with my grandpa being a ranger. They went hunting a lot. This smell reminds me of hunting. The smell of blood and iodine.. I also used to clean the gun barrel and play with gunpowder sprinkling it on top of the stove like some kind of war fairy 😂. Keep in mind that Romanians sacrifice their animals in their yard, so the smell of blood, burnt hair because we burn the pigs after killing them..and iodine and wet concrete is very normal to us. This reminds me of grandpa ❤
With fragrances, just as with everything else in life, you shouldn't fall into extremes. Sure, even tho i don't have as many fragrances as other enthusiasts, i still have more then usual (around 35) so from that POV i also fell into the extreme. I like to have casual, mass appealing fragrances like Versace, Dior Sauvage, Paco Rabanne aswell as darker scents like Serge Lutens, Encre Noire, Montale/Mancera's. I want to have a balanced "wardrobe" of scents to wear depending on the mood, weather, occasion, encounters etc. I don't want to come across as judging or atacking anyone, but i feel like many people want to "be different" for the sake of it and end up appearing like clowns. If you wear certain clothing, certain style / behaviour because thats your personality then sweet! But don't force trying to be "cool" by not being "cool" couse then you are a try-hard and you base your personality on a facade of trying to appear different. Be yourself and don't try to be something else. Best regards.
I doubt he genuinely enjoys inexcusable evil, that's why he didn't commit with a bottle. Instead he picked empty wishes well which is one of toskovat's more pleasant smells
When you talked about fragrances that smell like childhood, Polo Black is the one that comes to mind. My dad wore it to work every day until he decided that perfume wasn’t his thing. I inherited what was left of his collection at the tender age of 11. As the wise man that he was, he envisioned that I would grow into them eventually. He’s 50 now; that was 10 years ago. I have since added fragrances like Eros, Bottled Night, D&G Light Blue (gift from aunt overseas), and a local perfumery’s take on Aventus. But something about Polo Black made me profoundly happy when I finally reunited with it just recently.
I hardly ever comment on anyones videos but i just wanna take the time to appreciate how much work you put into defeating the stigma of fragrance videos, I hope a lot of the fragrance community content creators learn from you and you continue to do more fragrance videos. Truly one in a million.
Nice vid, I can appreciate your takes here, and it's cool to see a different and more thoughtful perspective on how fragrances fit into one's image etc. Since your last vid on this subject, I've dropped a few grand on fragrances and have a collection with 50+ bottles in it and a bunch of decants. I was really surprised by Black Afgano, since I had tried 4 other fragrances from the perfumer and they were super synthetic to my nose. I really didn't think I would vibe with BA, but found it to have an interesting evolution throughout time on the skin. *RE: Signature Scents:* I've noticed that a lot of collectors don't really care about having one. I suspect this is because the size of their collections are so large that they can more easily select a fragrance for a mood/occasion, so it's hard to have a scent to associate them with. The idea of having a scent for each occasion is goofy, and I believe is a function of collectors finding nails when wielding an increasingly large hammer. Instead, much like you allude to with styles, it seems like they can form a "signature" by adopting a profile. So for you, that would be "darker" fragrances, but for me, a lot of my fragrances trend towards "freshness" in some way because I find other stuff to become stuffy over time. While there is the idea that I can match my fragrance to the vibe I'm going for, my love for citrus probably presents too much energy, so I guess I'll need to become more extroverted to match my tastes 🙃 At the same time, I personally find my collection is probably too large, so I usually just throw something that I already enjoy like Aventus if I need to dash out the door. I think the solution to this would be to partition my collection into small subsets for each month, so that I can have less decision paralysis and more time to enjoy parts of my collection. *RE: Asking your friends about fragrances:* I suspect that is very dependent on your location. In larger cities with more interests and "culture", it's probably easier to find these people, but I find that most people living in the Midwest are probably just wearing something Sauvage if they are "into fragrances". Funnily enough, one of the most interesting people related to fragrances that I personally know doesn't actually really own any, but has an open mind and strange tastes. Hopefully I can find him something soon 😅 *RE: Brands I Recommend:* • *Creed* : this is probably the most mainstream "niche" for guys, but it still passes imo because so few dudes wear fragrances outside of Sauvage/1 Million/Eros. Most of the entire line isn't groundbreaking, but is super airy and is very difficult to be bothersome. It's a perfect background scent that doesn't distract, but rather adds to you. My favorite so far has been Royal Water, as it is a perfectly comfortable, creamy, refreshing scent that I feel would not be out of place in most occasions. (I am biased, owning most of their line.) • *ATH* : This perfumer is very bombastic and loud with his fragrances, and many probably know him by his UA-cam channel where he does reviews. Some fragrance eliteists hold the opinion that his work is too simple or based around designer profiles, but I find that his blending is usually very pleasant. His favorite fragrance of mine is Supernova. It truly just feels like a juicier, zestier, version of Aventus and is worthy of hype. • *Argos* : a lot of their lineup is based around designer profiles, but what makes me recommend them is the immaculate blending. My favorite is Triumph of Bacchus, which is what I would consider the mega evolution of Red Tobacco: sweetness and fruitiness are added to make the tobacco element more palatable. I was also impressed by Danaë because of its blend, but it smelled a lot "men's cologne" to me which I would never see myself wearing (this is my preference, not a dig at people who like this genre). • *Savoir Faire* : this seems more like a "hip" brand to me, but I can appreciate Soul Café which evokes a strange sense of nostalgia. That and Whiskey Rose both come off a little synthetic to me, but they are interesting and worth getting your nose on. *P.S.* I will reiterate a point in my last post on buying through the secondhand/grey market. DO IT. FIGURE IT OUT. There are so many people that impulse purchase their fragrances and then want to sell them off to recoup their losses. Go on FB groups or Reddit and you will save so much money. Of course, there is risk, but if you do your research on sellers (verifying they aren't scammers) and/or buy from reputed sellers, you're _very_ unlikely to be scammed. To give you an idea of why it's necessary, look at the MSRP of Creed: ~$500/100ml. On the secondhand market, most newer batches range from $150-200/100ml. For something like Sauvage Elixir, the savings are comparable: $180/60ml at retail vs $90-120/60ml.
I try to buy mostly niche fragrance for exactly this reason, but I also like to get fragrances with fewer notes and layer them together so I know that what I’m wearing is unique to me. It’s especially nice because I can use one really simple fragrance year round but change out what I layer it with seasonally so I still always smell ‘like me’.
Hello, [insert JQ], I've been watching your videos for quite some time now and I want to express how immensely they've helped me elevate not only my style and dressing but also boost my confidence. I haven't come across such positive content from anyone else that has motivated me to this extent. Please continue creating these amazing, dashing styling videos and know that I always will be the greatest supporter.
The first step is to actually stop listening to other people. Just wear what you like because you like it, not because of the opinion of the masses. Ironically enough, *not* wearing something just because everyone else does also fails this criteria, because you're just going by the flow but in reverse. No... You go orthogonal. No "ohhh that's overrated and overhyped", no "ohhh that's weird and unpopular", no "ohhh this smells like evil ex boyfriend/girlfriend" - you do you. You like Sauvage? Wear it! You like Kouros? Wear it! People will bitch, of course - that's what they do - regardless of what.
personally maybe not so niche anymore but i REALLY love molecule 01 by escentric molecules. It plays with the wearer by fading in and out so you cant smell it for a while and then bam it hits you again. Absolutely one of my favorite scents
@@brandonerick I was lucky to get the tester kit with all the samples and at the end found out EM01 was my fav but 02 was a close second! I do love the smell i might add it in the future to my rotation
@@brandonerick yes I have. It’s just ambroxan. It has a slight metallic/airy/woody smell. Sauvage smells better, don’t try and tell me the average person would prefer pure ambroxan to sauvage.
I'm a huge fan of Francesca Bianchi and own 3 of her scents (Etruscan Water, Under My Skin, and Encounters). Her scents have such a seductive and sexy vibe but most of them also have deep animalic notes that you just don't typically get from designer stuff. They're also extrait du parfum which means they have strong lasting power. Worth every penny imo
Who cares if you smell “familiar” fragrances that are recommended by everyone to be these rare gems will eventually become too common. I’ve grown to not even care.
I personally like Fragrances from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Almost every scent has a clean and fresh vibe. Besides BR540 not many people have fragrances from this house
honestly i try to have a nice subtle scent i usually do 30 sprays of red tobacco layered with 30 sprays of sauvage elixir! sometimes i even drink them to reduce projection😊
i was having struggling the last year trying to find a fragrance that fit me. i can't get a good vibe for a fragrance in a perfume store surrounded by conflicting scents but tried it at a few places anyway. i ordered samples of more expensive brands so i didn't have to bust out a wad of cash on what would ultimately be a failure. i didn't wanna try scentbird or monthly boxes because i couldn't find one without shady shit going on. eventually i found one i loved that smelled amazing and fit me really well, but turns out you can't get it in the US anymore and it's $600 a bottle. rip to YSL Babycat. so i settled for Coffee & Whiskey from Bath and Body Works. normally a place i hate shopping at but man i'm in love with the smell.
If you’re going to get edgy or daring fragrances with a higher price point, try something like Bortnikoff or Areej Le Dore. Prin & Strangers parfumerie have a lot of affordable offerings as well that fall into that “ultra-niche” category. Also don’t be afraid to branch out beyond the atomizer and pick up some attars. You can get some really high quality stuff for the same price you’d drop on those niche bottles. Exploring notes alone will also give you something to find your identity with, with your scent. Oudh oil has enough variety in its smell permitted you’re buying natural oil that will keep you busy longer than you’ll be alive. Oud can smell like anything, all depending on its origin, distillation process, etc. Musks from various animals can also have heavily varying scents from one another. Ambergris in particular can go from smelling like fresh excrement by the greenest water in Galveston, TX to having sweet nuances and almost mimicking something like white musk. Deer musk can have the same depth as well. If you’re gonna be daring, go out and experience these natural elements of perfumery that walked so these half witted edgy perfume brands could run
To me houses like Toskovat are corny, just being shocking to be shocking. Similar accords could be found but not marketed to be so challenging as those pose to be
Im a sucker for Idyllwild by Ineke. This fragrance is absolutely wonderful. I spend my time trying to find fragrances that remind me of my childhood in the redwoods, and this is one of the best I have found. Its a woody, green, and slightly spicy scent, which has a top note of rhubarb and grapefruit. I think the rhubarb is one of the most alluring parts of this scent as its not something I find too often. I really think its such a great blend as the citrus in the top gives way to the cypress and fir in the body with the more deep woody notes at the heart. I think anyone who enjoys woody nature focused scents should give this a try. I wear a lot of earth tones and live in a place with a lot of trees, but even if I move, I cant imagine not continuing to wear this. It does falter in the winter months as it needs a little more heat to stand out as much, but that can be nice as it can be more subtle. Its not an overpowering smell, but it has a character that I havent been able to find in much else. Im biased because its everything I could want in a scent, but again, if you even think you might like foresty scents, this is a good bet. The company is also based in San Francisco which is super tight.
Honestly where I live and even on travels in Europe and Asia I really don’t smell many guys wearing fragrance at all, Even my gf had never smelt Bleu de Chanel or Versace Eros on anyone before (green flags I know). So as long as I’m literally not wearing Dior Sauvage, 1 Million, OG Acqua do Gio, or any of the other best selling men’s designer scents I’m gonna stand out and smell unique.
Some brand that i liked a lot: Le Jardin Retrouve (Osmanthe liu yuan its a beast), Jorum Studio (Arborist, Elegy, Gorseland), Meo Fusciuni (Sogni, Oblio), Mirko Buffini Firenze (n31, Kirk, Zeist, Gods), Frapin (liked all of them). But for my personal experience, if you are new to the niche world i personally suggest to start with company like Bon Parfumeur, MMreplica line, Essential Parfum or Botanicae. Great stand alone fragrances at a very good price
I stick to darker floral fragrances so some of my favs offerings are from: Amouage, Frederic Malle, BDK, Chasing Scents and the private lines from Armani and Dior have excellent smells too
I was actually put on to fragrances from watching your first video on them and I just wanted to say thank you. I don’t think I would’ve tapped into the world of fragrances if I hadn’t seen it. I just ordered a bottle of “I Don’t Know What” by DS and Durga.
I love Pernoire, a swiss niche brand. I got their discovery set, and i def recommend Mansa (which i bought later), Masar, Vitias, Amoral and Naki. All these scents have their own personality, and thats what the brand aims for. And they're all Extrait De Parfum, so they're super long lasting, without a huge sillage/projection (which I prefer) I think it was Damien Broderick (the british GRWM, "Its Chewsday, so lets get dressed" guy) who said that fragrance should be discovered, not announced. But I recommend trying Pernoires discovery set, and seeing if you like some of their creations.
Love that stuff too! Have you tried the DUA Brand version of it? I think it's absolutely spot on and costs like 35 bucks. Definitely check it out cuz that scent profile is just amazing, and at least some people are doing it well for less dough 🙂!
Designer fragrances don't particularly suck, only the most popular ones can make you smell quite "boring". (that applies to niche scents as well, since some of them are as popular as designer scents). But your signature scent shouldn't necessarily fall into niche fragrances, as they're more expensive and a bit more difficult to explore. Remember that most people don't even wear fragrances at all :P
I agree. Niche doesn’t equate quality or superiority or uniqueness too. Sometimes, I hate sampling unknown brands thinking they are special but they aren’t. In fact their notes are usually just linear without too much depth on it. There are highly regarded designer perfumes too aside from being mass appealing. Anyway, it’s just a matter of smell. ;)
@@annparas2645 It's considered that they're made of higher quality ingedients, but even then finding the right scent is quite exhausting since your nose just stops working after sniffing a certain amount, that's why a lot of people rely on fragrance reviewers and just try out the fragrances based on the already given list.
Port Au Mansa is for sure a fragrance brand to check out! They make fragrance oils and they're amazing. I use bamboo personally together with my Sundazed Byredo perfume.
i don’t really use niche fragrances, but i do love indie fragrances! considering your style and the scents you like, i’d recommend Dusty Stacks Of Records On An Antique Store Floor by Death & Floral, Viridis Arcanum by Alkemia, or Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground by Andromeda’s Curse.
What a refreshing video, you are definitely sharing a humble and honest opinion, that invites to a discussion about cool ideas and community. I personally think fragrances have to be used carefully and wisely (because they cost money and you have to think were and when to waste your precious dollars to smell for the right people) I used common/commercial fragrances for trivial activities, but save my loved niche ones to share with friends, at events or special moments, when you dress appropriately for the boost of the performance perfume. My personal favorites: A Anarchist - Toskovat, Dark - Neandertal, Sacreste - Laborattorio Olfativo. Keep this alive man, peace.
Definitely an elevated video. Most guys have to be convinced just to care enough to want to put in the effort to smell good by using fragrances. I tend to gravitate towards whatever scents I like to smell continually throughout the day as opposed to what I am wearing. Perhaps this is a new way to consider fragrances instead of the occasion and whatever I "feel like" wearing. I have not explored niche very much yet (still a noob to the fragrance game) but I tend to gravitate towards Parfums De Marly Layton, Spicebomb, Angel's Share and Baccarat Rouge 540 I'm definitely all over the place
I’ve always kinda associated fragances w/ the personality of the person wearing them and less w/ their fit. I tend to wear frangances that are more citrus and marine forward despite wearing mostly blacks. I guess for most it usually aligns since personal stylebis a reflection of the individuals identity but idk if scent and outfit necessarily has to be a reflection of the same aspect? It is a great starting point tho I think
I started my journey into niche fragrance coming over from specialty coffee. With coffee you must train your palate and your nose. I have only been into niche perfumery for around 4/5 months, and have been loving it so far. Some of my favorites so far have been Amouage Royal Tobacco, Francesca Blanchi The Lover’s Tale, and Jovoy Psychedelique. Finding unique and special fragrances that fit both my style and attitude has been so much fun. It can be a very expensive and spiraling rabbit hole of a hobby, but it’s genuinely fascinating and fun. Standout/uncommon fragrances that I’d say are great if you can pull them off: Nasomatto Black Afgano, Papillon Salome, Orto Parisi Stercus. Finding something challenging but not so crazy out there that you’ll offend others is fun. 🥹
Brands to recommend: Xerjoff - very luxurious and a very broad portfolio, my recommandation for our dark fellas would be Tony Iommi Monkey special Roberto Ugolini - Rosso 17 is the best one IMO, a heavy Rose scent with a hint of peach in it and also a VERY strong longevity Other good brands: Tauer Perfumes Tiziana Terenzi Nobile 1942 Stephane Humbert Lucas Marc Gebauer
Here in Argentina, Fragrances arent usual, so i can wear whatever tf i want and still being unique.🧙♂ At least in everywhere except the Capital or some veeeery fanzy place. And even in that places is hard to find 2 guys with the same fragrance.
Despite its popularity I just really like Santal 33. I spent a long time looking for an alternative that was more affordable, higher quality, and just a little bit different. I found Santal Super by Son Venin, and I wear it as an accent scent (not everyday but if I’m feeling… jazzy). It’s a really beautiful scent, and noticeably higher quality than my other fragrances. I really like the brand overall, some very unique scents!
@@neykelmora6801 notice how all of them are niche and expensive, and yet they claim they like fashion, they only like the feeling of being exclusivists and hipsters.
@@3.14nameto my defense, I actually like an expensive niche fragrance by orto parisi that I actually like a lot. But like you said it's just snobby consumerism, to which we could say becomes a guilty pleasure, because you definitely never smell a fragrance like that on anyone so you have the illusion of standing out, so people will remember you by that unique scent. I think people who go all out like this guy should still remember that the things they own, end up owning them if they identify themselves in something so materialistic

Filippo Sorcinelli is a pretty interesting perfumer, but his fragrances tend to be pretty 50/50, some of his fragrances smell like straight up coal, others hard to explain but rather good. Others worth mentioning are Etat Libre d'Orange, Coreterno, BORNTOSTANDOUT and Room 1015, all of them I found to be pretty interesting as well

What an amazing comment. As a fellow fraghead I couldn't agree more with what you said. And yeah Thirty Three is amazing!
REAL
Remember that most people don't wear fragrances so wearing one is already a step ahead.

since when is fragrance worn to be unique???
@@hejti3894 I mean the whole point of this video was about finding your personal fragrance that matches your aesthetic.

YEEEESSSSS
This. I’d say about 80% of men don’t even wear a fragrance. The other 15% wear one of the top sellers (Sauvage/1Million/Invictus/etc) which they got as a gift on their bday, and the other 5% are into fragrances like us. So just wear what you like. Besides, whatever you wear will smell different and unique on you as it will blend in with your own pheromones

same here. people find the scent of sauvage uncommon in my area too
Which one?
i'm a woman and i personally base my fragrance choices on mood or how i want to feel that day, and the core of my personality. and of course on what my nose likes. that's why my every day scents are usually sweet, fruity, floral, not too strong or overbearing and a little playful. i genuinely love fruity scents and want to come across as approachable. but sometimes i wear something a little louder and more seductive, darker, when you just want to feel sexy and confident! and when i want to stand out or feel a bit moody, i have that one fragrance that doesn't really smell typical to me, but it makes sense to wear it in that mood. so yeah, i have a few of them, but each of them has something special that stands out and makes me feel different. i try to keep my collection small tho, only buying what i truly truly love and see myself wearing. i'm looking forward to finding more scents since i'm new to this whole world of fragrances. it's been an exciting journey so far!
Niche is awesome, but can be pretty spendy. Definitely worth the price, most of the time, but a good niche house, that is quite affordable, is Mancera.
Got the Cedrat Boise intense the other day. It was a blind buy and very disappointing one. Longevity is non existent and projection is weak.
Cedrat boise is beast mode on me
@GertuCapur that sucks, I typically hear great things about that fragrance too.
there's nothing niche about mancera and you can find on the grey market actual quality niche houses (nicolai, parfum d'empire, villoresi, heeley etc) for the same price of a mancera
@@GertuCapura lot of people say it's reformulated and the longevity is now shitty

@ thats very sweet actually
Best regards.
sorry brother this vid is so pretentious 💀 bringing up toskovat was the icing on the cake, pleaseeee

I appreciate that truly!
*RE: Signature Scents:*
I've noticed that a lot of collectors don't really care about having one.
*RE: Asking your friends about fragrances:*
I suspect that is very dependent on your location. Hopefully I can find him something soon 😅
*RE: Brands I Recommend:*
• *Creed* : this is probably the most mainstream "niche" for guys, but it still passes imo because so few dudes wear fragrances outside of Sauvage/1 Million/Eros. (I am biased, owning most of their line.)
• *ATH* : This perfumer is very bombastic and loud with his fragrances, and many probably know him by his UA-cam channel where he does reviews.
This was an amazing read and I wish you luck on your continuous journey in fragrances it goes deep and it’s so fun

Aaron Terrence Hughes is righteous! His OUD and LUNA fragrances are some faves. But they are all great!
I try to buy mostly niche fragrance for exactly this reason, but I also like to get fragrances with fewer notes and layer them together so I know that what I’m wearing is unique to me. just wear whatever you like, tried Armaf Milestone and love it so much that it becomes my sig despite having over 40 bottles in my collection
Wear it! People will bitch, of course - that's what they do - regardless of what.

i was having struggling the last year trying to find a fragrance that fit me. i can't get a good vibe for a fragrance in a perfume store surrounded by conflicting scents but tried it at a few places anyway. i ordered samples of more expensive brands so i didn't have to bust out a wad of cash on what would ultimately be a failure. i didn't wanna try scentbird or monthly boxes because i couldn't find one without shady shit going on. eventually i found one i loved that smelled amazing and fit me really well, but turns out you can't get it in the US anymore and it's $600 a bottle. rip to YSL Babycat. so i settled for Coffee & Whiskey from Bath and Body Works. normally a place i hate shopping at but man i'm in love with the smell.

Ineke rocks. I own field notes from Paris, which is still my favorite in my collection. Mega underrated.
would love some more fragrance content bro
Honestly where I live and even on travels in Europe and Asia I really don’t smell many guys wearing fragrance at all, Even my gf had never smelt Bleu de Chanel or Versace Eros on anyone before (green flags I know). So as long as I’m literally not wearing Dior Sauvage, 1 Million, OG Acqua do Gio, or any of the other best selling men’s designer scents I’m gonna stand out and smell unique.
"base your fragrance with your personality" which one of them?
Some brand that i liked a lot: Le Jardin Retrouve (Osmanthe liu yuan its a beast), Jorum Studio (Arborist, Elegy, Gorseland), Meo Fusciuni (Sogni, Oblio), Mirko Buffini Firenze (n31, Kirk, Zeist, Gods), Frapin (liked all of them). But for my personal experience, if you are new to the niche world i personally suggest to start with company like Bon Parfumeur, MMreplica line, Essential Parfum or Botanicae. Great stand alone fragrances at a very good price
I stick to darker floral fragrances so some of my favs offerings are from: Amouage, Frederic Malle, BDK, Chasing Scents and the private lines from Armani and Dior have excellent smells too
we have a smiliar taste, which do you lke specifically from these houses? have u smelled LV les sables roses? It is an insane dark floral smell.
I feel attacked, i got aeroplane on vinyl and by the fireplace for crimbo this year
I was actually put on to fragrances from watching your first video on them and I just wanted to say thank you. I don’t think I would’ve tapped into the world of fragrances if I hadn’t seen it. I just ordered a bottle of “I Don’t Know What” by DS and Durga.
Saw Teroni in the thumbnail and knew I had to watch this, nice I own Megamare and Viride from the same brand
I love Pernoire, a swiss niche brand. I got their discovery set, and i def recommend Mansa (which i bought later), Masar, Vitias, Amoral and Naki. All these scents have their own personality, and thats what the brand aims for. And they're all Extrait De Parfum, so they're super long lasting, without a huge sillage/projection (which I prefer)
I think it was Damien Broderick (the british GRWM, "Its Chewsday, so lets get dressed" guy) who said that fragrance should be discovered, not announced.
But I recommend trying Pernoires discovery set, and seeing if you like some of their creations.
Smelling familiar also makes people feel security, People love safety and the known. Smelling something you've smelled before can register safety
Love wearing straight to heaven by Kilian wearing all black
IA's "city on fire" is not what most would describe as chill lol
Shhh I’m setting them up
I just got my personal color analysis done. And I'm grateful to found your videos. Now, omw to find 'deep summer' fragrance
Wear what you want and like.
Port Au Mansa is for sure a fragrance brand to check out! They make fragrance oils and they're amazing. I use bamboo personally together with my Sundazed Byredo perfume.
Thanks for the rec! Will check this house out, I love fragrance oils. Underrated essential in my everyday carry.
Bro talking about notes 🎶 I just like how the bottles look
No, we’ve been through this already, yours suck bro. Mine are cool. 😡
What you smell like
@@averagemale9401 my grandmother told me I smell good but idk
i don’t really use niche fragrances, but i do love indie fragrances! considering your style and the scents you like, i’d recommend Dusty Stacks Of Records On An Antique Store Floor by Death & Floral, Viridis Arcanum by Alkemia, or Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground by Andromeda’s Curse.
For me:
Black = Patchouli
Green = Vetiver
What a refreshing video, you are definitely sharing a humble and honest opinion, that invites to a discussion about cool ideas and community.
I personally think fragrances have to be used carefully and wisely (because they cost money and you have to think were and when to waste your precious dollars to smell for the right people)
I used common/commercial fragrances for trivial activities, but save my loved niche ones to share with friends, at events or special moments, when you dress appropriately for the boost of the performance perfume.
8:33 Bro you're telling me I can smell like fucking Sigur ros!!
“Look at the colors you wear”
Me: *realizes there’s nothing but gray and black in my closet and it perhaps represents my soul*
Brands to recommend:
Xerjoff - very luxurious and a very broad portfolio, my recommandation for our dark fellas would be Tony Iommi Monkey special
Roberto Ugolini - Rosso 17 is the best one IMO, a heavy Rose scent with a hint of peach in it and also a VERY strong longevity
Other good brands:
Tauer Perfumes
Tiziana Terenzi
Nobile 1942
Stephane Humbert Lucas
Marc Gebauer
Here in Argentina, Fragrances arent usual, so i can wear whatever tf i want and still being unique.🧙♂
At least in everywhere except the Capital or some veeeery fanzy place.
And even in that places is hard to find 2 guys with the same fragrance.
John lennon didnt died ... he makes fashion Videos on you tube now 😂😂
😂😂😂
what fragrances do yall think would someone wear who wears bell bottom jeans and vintage clothes?
Malbrum, Vertus, Carner, and hermetica seen definitely in your ally/direction of where i think you vibe with scents
This is snobby consumerism. At most you ll need 3 good fragrances that have good sillage and lasting time and are suited for most of the ocasions….
True, but we have to consider that this channel is for wealthy snobs, so it have sense
@@neykelmora6801 notice how all of them are niche and expensive, and yet they claim they like fashion, they only like the feeling of being exclusivists and hipsters.
Spoken like a true comrade.
@@Alex-di6vh I love them too, I can spend half a day in a niche perfume store and sniff them all but buying dozens of them just so they can go with your outfit “vibe” sounds a bit too much.
Recently Etat Libre D’Orange has sort of become my favorite brand. Une Amourette and Ghost in The Shell by them are divine.
Smell Afternoon of a Faun if you ever get the chance. Amazing scent. GitS is my other favorite from them!
@@laughingatyrfuneral i’ll have to see if it came into my discovery set. i recommend that to anyone who’s a fan of fragrance. Fat Electrician is great, Tom of Finland, AND She Was An Anomaly smells so goood! that one might be my next from them honestly.
Went to the club once and savage literally choke out the whole dance floor. Makes me wish people got stuff other than the basics.
Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade and Gucci Guilty Absolute have been staples in my fragrance collection
Great video man, been wanting to get into fragrances for a while and this video helped me define what I wanted to get from one!
love your style and toskovat scent of choice, i’m on a journey to find a blend between light and dark. ideally, a gunpowder scent with hints of bamboo, tea, guava or cherries, and cinnamon or turmeric. something potent but swinging back and forth. i can’t commit to any one scent!
i use inexcusable evil and now i smell like blood and concrete
By the Fireplace is for pretentious fashion men? Bro, in place where I live this fragrance is the embodiment of middle aged mom, plz
Filippo Sorcinelli is a pretty interesting perfumer, but his fragrances tend to be pretty 50/50, some of his fragrances smell like straight up coal, others hard to explain but rather good.
Others worth mentioning are Etat Libre d'Orange, Coreterno, BORNTOSTANDOUT and Room 1015, all of them I found to be pretty interesting as well
Trying too hard to become unique is unoriginal as in itself. Furthermore, most of the fragrances you “dissed” are women’s choice as top most sexy and alluring even if they are common
