  • Doug Berry of the Eastern Sierra Region of California and Nevada visits the historic and scenic Dangberg Home Ranch located in the spectacular Carson Valley east of Lake Tahoe. Kellie Zuniga of the Mineral County Museum of Hawthorne, Nevada is our guest. Our host is Kim Harris of the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. Douglas County, Nevada with road trip footage along the West Walker River at Wilson Canyon in neighboring Lyon County. Heinrich Friedrich Dangburg immigrated legally to the USA from his native Germany in the late 1800's, in 1857 he established the largest ranch in the valley, at over 48,000 acres that was a four generations business thru 1987.

    The snowcapped mountains, in the opening, make a beautiful backdrop to the grazing animals that you passed along the way. The scenery is so lovely. **Thank you, Doug, Kellie, and Kim for the very interesting tidbits of info you supplied for us at the ranch, and throughout the video. It's absolutely wonderful that the ranch is so well preserved. The ranch is an amazing, wonderful site. I thoroughly enjoyed this video, Doug and Kellie.👏🏻👏🏻 That lunch looked pretty, dang delicious, as well.
    You're right, Doug. Many of us love the details you supply us with. The extra effort is much appreciated. 👏🏻👏🏻🏘🏡 🐑 🐔 🐃🌱🌿

      Hello Rhonda, we both laughed after the mess we made of the picnic table after having ravenously devoured our lunch. I feel honored to share the breathtaking scenery of the mountains with everyone. Been trying to keep putting in all the animals that I can include. I missed filming the Great Pyrannese dog that was faithfully guarding the sheep (I wonder if that was the same one that chased me last summer?). I will try to come back to get the peonies blooming as they are just beginning to bud. Kim gave a generous impromptu interview; very nice of her. Thank you for coming along again; always look forward to your comments. 🇺🇸 🩵 🌺 🙏 🤠🫏

      - also during Ww2, Danish would ask a suspected German ( still ask for humor) to pronounce a name of a desert, Rodgrod med Flod ( red fruit with cream) of course no one but a Dane could do so correctly.

    I really enjoyed your tour of the Dangberg Ranch. My wife and I spent many a weekend at the Carson Valley Inn at Minden during the 1980's from when we were living in Santa Cruz, Ca. I would usually take Highway 88 over Carson Pass. We love the Carson Valley Area and thought about living there at one time.

      Hello Charlie, I can see why you considered moving to the Carson Valley area: the mild climate and close to so many attractions. That Carson Pass is the best way to go across from the valley; good choice. Catch you next time! 🛻

    Hey Brother Doug and Kellie!
    Boy, I love poking around old ranches and historic places like that. Reminds me of my youth growing up on the old home place, and the surrounding ranches. We sure didn't have the acreage though that those Dang-Bergs did😂!
    Really enjoyed the tour, Brother. By the way, those were Ravens you pointed out, not crows. My favorite bird, those Ravens. But then you know me, your weird Brother!
    Nice lunch, but no cookies?!? You guys are slipping! 😅 It was fun for sure though, thanks for dragging us along! 🇺🇸

      Hi my Brother! I figured you would enjoy that trip to the old ranch. Nevada has more ravens than ever; they seem to be getting as common as crows. I am on a diet, I have to get in shape for our long summer hikes. Will have to go back there again. Say hello to Gloria from us! 🇺🇸 👋 🤠

    At 16:18 in I was thinking the same Doug, twinsies. The reason that flora grow so nice here is the weather is a lot like
    Chicago ( Winter especially so) with the only difference is it's a much drier heat in the summer than Chicago, it gets down-
    right humid as heck here! The views here are exceptionally beautiful and far better than my crowded city. The Dangberg
    ranch museum was amazing!!! Fun learning about how life there was like back then. Great showing of the whole valley just like an unoffical Nevada Department of Tourism video. LOL Steve

    • @CalNeva
      @CalNeva  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi Steve! It was a complete coincidence with the twinsies....I had to laugh, no wait, I AM still chuckling. The ranch is such a nice community resource, like a free park open to the public to enjoy. I just had to help share and promote them. That humidity is tough, but it sure is nice and green in the Midwest. Have a great one my friend Steve! 👋

    I like how you turned a trip to home depot into a visual picturesque tour of the ranch.those mountains and the alpine grass are stunning..esp with your truck in the for ground😂.is it true they named Douglas county after you........thanks for showing Kellies twin..i knew there had to be more than one😅it was fun

    • @CalNeva
      @CalNeva  5 місяців тому +1

      Hello Casey, yes, unbelievable but true, the county IS named for me personally. I had to put my truck in the foreground because it told me it "would not start until I started putting back into the videos". What was I to do? I can't haul that much lumber on my bicycle and Kellie's car does not have a lumber rack; so there you have it: that little truck always insisting to be in the spotlight (it thinks it is a show truck). 🤠 🛻🏔️
