    Great coverage of that old mine!
    Glad theres so much
    Still preserved for all to admire!
    So many mines never restarted after ww11!
    I wonder how many ozs. they extracted!
    Amalgum is the combination of gold and mercury!
    Kinda surprized I never knew about this mine back when I spent some time in the greater Lee Vining area!

    WOW, you definitely know your history, and have a phenomenal understanding of the mine's operation, Doug! That was very powerful.🎊
    The only thing I was surprised at, is how wide open such a potentially, dangerous site is... especially being in such a state of arrested decay.😮
    It was so lovely to discover that it has not been the subject of graffiti, or telltale vandalism though.🤗🎉
    I also can tell that Rob is an obvious expert in his field, too.🎊 That was very interesting about Rob and Nelda... both great people.👫 Rob was definitely in his element.👏🏻🎉
    The tour of the buildings was very interesting, and enjoyable.
    You gave us a feeling for the people who ran the mining operation.🤗 Imagine 72 people, and how they fed them, especially during those, long, endless winters... 🌨 As you said, Doug, it is hard to imagine hauling equipment up there!😵‍💫😮🎉
    It's a shame that gravity and nature are at play.😑
    BOTTOM LINE: Doug and Rob, you both are so knowledgeable. It is a real pleasure to listen to two people who know what they're talking about, and respect each other.🔥👏🏻👏🏻 BRAVO
    I thoroughly enjoyed this video.
    BTW, sweet Oreo may not bring lunch, but certainly is adorable, and so sweet.💘

      @@rhondaz356 Hi Rhonda, the weather has been perfect around here, the Californians west of the mountains are suffering another heat wave while we bask in comfort. Who could not adore little Oreo. He is a unique dog; he never begs and you can leave food right by his nose and he won't eat your lunch or get into things; super mellow. Rob is one of the elite group of good construction contractors. He grew up summers in the Twin Lakes area near Bridgeport, CA. His soon to be bride is also a tough, honest, dependable individual. I will be editing a shorter video of our trip to the mine soon highlighting the early fall alpine colors. Tons of fall projects around my place before winter: so busy, but the house is starting to look presentable. Hello Brother! Well, you were right that it was going to be a great experience 👍. I really had no idea that old mine was up there. I'm really surprised that the buildings are still in pretty decent shape after lying dormant since the forties. I should be so lucky 😂 ! You mentioned the gold was discovered by a squirrel's diggings. I used to poke around squirrel diggings myself, just to see what they may have uncovered, but I mostly just got a million flea bites for my efforts!

    • @CalNeva
      @CalNeva  День тому +1

      @@brakerbraker829 Hey TC! The Simpson brothers originally built the mine, sold it in 1930, that operation was running fine until the mine was shut down during WW II. For two years after the war it was maintained to be put back into full production within 48hrs. Unfortunately, the price of gold never rose sufficiently to warrant the mines profitability. I opine ultimately the war was the catalyst for its demise. There is still small intense pockets of gold to be found in the back country, but I believe modern mining extraction operations are better for large economy of scale ....not the rugged hard to access smaller mines of yesterday's technology. 🤠🇺🇸👋

    How much would it cost to get that up and running in top shape again?????

    • @CalNeva
      @CalNeva  22 години тому

      @@thomasharhen2168 Hi Thomas! I guess it would cost $ 78 million to pay off the state politicians, $ 4 million the Federal level politicians, and $ 64.7 million to pay off the various regulatory agencies, $ 65 million to pay off the international NGO's and $28.7 to pay off the Bank for International Settlements (BIS World Central Bank in Bern Switzerland), $24 million to grease the wheels of the Bohemian Grove members, and less than $ 2 million to actually start pulling gold out of the ground. Added up, my conservative estimate is: $ 266.4 USD. This could hold for 24 hours, after which, do to the failing US Petro Fiat currency would be $ 267.3 million, +/- 247,000 inflationary calculations. 🤠
