The bitter beef and offal stew is pinapaitan (Pi-na-pa-i-tan) or papaitan. Bile is one of the main ingredient. Although bitter, it should be balanced with the savory and sour of this stew. I would recommend beer and other salty sides to pair.
I'm Korean living in US. I love Pilipino people and Philippines. They are the sweetest people on earth. If the chef founds some way to eliminate the pork smell, lots of other countries will enjoy them. Lastly, I tried chicken Adobo from my coworker that he has been cooking for 12 hours. it was the best chicken I ever taste. but Pilipino restaurant doesn't taste the same. most of the Pilipino restaurant just lay the food around for many hours like the buffet style and they don't throw away the food until its eliminated. Grilled blood skewers are supposed to be dipped in vinegar sauce. Filipinos don’t eat grilled pork blood by itself, it really needs to be dipped in sauce before eating. You’ll taste a big difference.

Hi Tim. You forgot the dipping sauce for the street food skewers like the sweet & sour sauce for the battered quail eggs. For the other skewers, it's good to dip them in a vinegar 'sawsawan'
Hi Tim. I'm a pinoy myself and I couldn't help laughing bec I'm the type who would avoid the exotic parts of a pig or chicken 😆. The grilled pork blood is best eaten with spicy vinegar sauce and it's supposed to taste like any smoked grilled meat if grilled well. Otherwise it's just goin to taste like plain pork blood. I loved buying it on the street when I was a kid but fishballs dipped in a sweet and spicy 'manong sauce' is my all time fave street food! Love pork bbq and dinuguan too! Cheers to you for trying out pinoy street skewers and for giving an honest 1st timer feedback about it 😆 I guess it's acquired taste when it comes to exotic skewers. 😀
Now that is a super interesting foodie adventures, the best part is it's such a variety!! I had to laugh out loud when you took a big bite of the pork blood!! 🤣
Yeah, pork blood really wasn't to my liking. It somehow absorbs all the moisture in ones mouth and you're left with an inescapable mouthful of dry irony livery crumble 😆
Omg you made me laugh, your face after eating the pigs blood!you are very adventurous,i don’t think I would try that but looks very interesting!great video!
Really enjoyed the Filipino food.. I think they have Max's there and some other bigger chains, but it's really nice to find some small places. If you're looking for really good Filipino food, try a place called truffles and bacon
Oh Tim I hope I seen this video last week I was in Vegas one of our list was to eat great Filipino food this is exactly what I was looking for but the Filipino Uber driver never told us about this and told us that we are better off just going buffet in the strip since most good Filipino food are far from the strip but if I knew that this existed plus only $15 it could have been worth while the trip and the Filipino chef at the Palm that was also a missed now because of your vlog I want to go back to Vegas I can wait to try all this and your other food recommendations congrats to your channel stay hydrated
Really like these smaller places where it's family run or ran by a few people.. rather than the big extravagant restaurants. At the buffet, Paul and his mom were present and working away at the restaurant.. really nice to see these places thrive
@@TimLeeLetsGo So i can say this, thank you, for giving me one of the best laughs I've had in a very long time. in your video, you got to the chicken skewers/kabobs and you said "and finally something that is normal". i couldn't help it. I'm sorry and thanks again.
Missed this yesterday but it's sure making us hungry. 2 for 1 today:) Adding them to our future Van travels bucket list, as this is a yummy excuse to stop in Vegas. We've never experienced philippian cuisine but both places look seriously authentic. Never seen you react to that 1st (pork blood) and 2nd tripe food like that🤣 But most everything else is building our appetite before lunch today:) Sending Best Wishes and Blessings, James and Kim ❤️
You make me hungry just watching your blog😋 Glad your not afraid of trying different kinds of street food. Next time we go to Vegas..definitely..we are going to visit these two Filipino place.
I hope you give it a try, and there are so many other Filipino restaurants around that area. One of my favorite places is called truffles and bacon... A Filipino restaurant
Going there in June for family wedding and can't wait to have pilipino buffet. Tuyo🥰, haven't had that in 36 years, can't wait. It was certainly an unexpected experience.. I did not know grilled pork blood actually absorbs all moisture from one's mouth.. leaving an inescapable mouthful of dry irony livery crumbles... The hydration from the drink accentuates the flavors all of a sudden 😆
Hi Tim...enjoy your meal...the face you made when you tried the pork blood 🤣🤣🤣...felt so bad for you 😢😤...watched lots of your food videos and this is the first time I seen you make that face...stay safe, safe travels and God Bless 😘🤗💙
Thanks Jade! That was certainly unexpected. The grilled pork blood was such that when you put it in your mouth, it absorbs all moisture and you're left with a mouthful of gritty livery pork blood which was hard to escape from 😆
Hi Tim! You probably haven’t noticed in the Filipino restaurant you don’t see knives is because Filipinos used the tablespoon as a knife as well . !!! Yeah the pork blood in skewer looks unappetizing but in dinuguan is taster better. Thanks I will try that when I’m in Vegas! Although I was just there more than a week ago but I only stayed in Planet Hollywood which is in the center of the strips and so much to see and do that I didn’t have time to explore outside specially Filipino foods now I know. Very hot as well!!
I live near both places and have yet to try Toto's. I almost went there today... I missed both the refrigerator and the rice cooker at Kusina Ni Lorraine when I went a couple of weeks ago. While at Kusina Ni Lorraine when, I bought a Poppin' Cookin' kit. lol
@@TimLeeLetsGo The Buffet was not bad. I'm not as familiar with Filipino Cuisine as I probably should be, so I didn't know the names of the items. The overall taste of the items was fine with friendly pricing. Not sure if I would hit them again as there are many, many shops on my list. There are several Filipino focused restaurants/bakeries within a 15-20 minute walk in the area. Max's Restaurant, about a six minute walk south of Toto's. Seafood City which houses Jollibee, Grill City, Crispy Town (delicious fried chicken skin) and a couple of bakeries.

The quails egg were missing something a sauce would have been nice
I loved buying it on the street when I was a kid but fishballs dipped in a sweet and spicy 'manong sauce'
is my all time fave street food! Love pork bbq and dinuguan too! Cheers to you for trying out pinoy street skewers and for giving an honest 1st timer feedback about it 😆 I guess it's acquired taste when it comes to exotic skewers. 😀
Try it with vinegar and other sauces. It will make the taste even better!
Your "shudder" reaction to the one skewer was funny. Nice to see you meet up with Jorge and Norma. Did I see you on Norma's meet & greet?
Great to have met Jorge and Norma in person for the first time! Great people and just like on their respective channels 😃
Yeah, pork blood wasn't to my liking for sure😆... At least when prepared grilled😉
Hi Tim! I just subscribed. thank you for showing Filipino foods in Vegas. I'm going there the next time I go to Vegas.
Really enjoyed the Filipino food.. I think they have Max's there and some other bigger chains, but it's really nice to find some small places. If you're looking for really good Filipino food, try a place called truffles and bacon
Woo dan is back
Nice to share a meal with Dan and Norma🙂
I am now thinking of going to Las Vegas for this buffet, Tim.
You should have a vinegar dip for your skewered food..
Grilled pork blood at 0:46. I think Tim's facial reaction says it all. That metallic pork blood taste is hard to get used to.
Certainly not what I was expecting for sure 😉
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
Thank you Linda, it was a very fun experience
Hi Tim, the food at Toto’s look adventurous and really interesting. Wondering whether this is a buffet? If not, how does it change?
Oh, they charged by the skewer, it was slightly over a dollar per stick
Great Video Tim. I had to smile... "I think they are missing some knives?" Yes, there is a reason for that! INGAT!!
That's not menudo, that's papaitan (literally translated to 'make bitter' in English). Filipino menudo is a tomato-based beef stew dish.
Awesome to see you eating different varieties of food.
Good or bad, it was definitely a very fun experience 🙂
I’ve always loved blood, but I knew you’d make a face when you took that huge bite! Ha! Love the grill concept.
Yeah, it really wasn't what I was expecting when I had the bite
You are a brave man, Tim !
Very fun dishes to try 😉
i did not know this colllab happened! lucky tim!
Really great to meet up with the people there… Dan and Norma are great
Tim, you should've dipped the grilled pork blood in the spiced vinegar. Actually, you should be dipping everything in a sauce. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the heads up, unfortunately there will be a next time 😆
@@TimLeeLetsGo So i can say this, thank you, for giving me one of the best laughs I've had in a very long time. in your video, you got to the chicken skewers/kabobs and you said "and finally something that is normal". i couldn't help it. I'm sorry and thanks again.
I LMAO watching you go all in on the pork blood...🤣 Tim, wondering what did the pork blood taste like my friend?🤔
Oh, it really wasn't what I was expecting hence the reaction... Hard to describe. I think it was the taste, texture, and smell that we're a surprise
What's worse than pork blood? "Pork blood mixed with C2"! Hahaha! Good one Tim! :)
I'm kind of surprised that some of the things I say on the videos.. yeah, the pork blood was not my favorite 😉
Love the video .more power to ur channel
I've been there back in March of this year its a great place!!!
Missed this yesterday but it's sure making us hungry. 2 for 1 today:) Adding them to our future Van travels bucket list, as this is a yummy excuse to stop in Vegas. We've never experienced philippian cuisine but both places look seriously authentic. Never seen you react to that 1st (pork blood) and 2nd tripe food like that🤣 But most everything else is building our appetite before lunch today:)
Sending Best Wishes and Blessings, James and Kim ❤️
Where will your first Van travels take you?
@@TimLeeLetsGo First Ohio and Pennsylvania to cool off a little and visit childhood stomping grounds:)
@@salanicus I've heard of great Amish places around there 🙂
@@TimLeeLetsGo , that's in Lancaster, Pa
You make me hungry just watching your blog😋
Glad your not afraid of trying different kinds of street food.
Next time we go to Vegas..definitely..we are going to visit these two Filipino place.
I hope you give it a try, and there are so many other Filipino restaurants around that area. One of my favorite places is called truffles and bacon... A Filipino restaurant
lets go!!!!
I'd be up for it 😋
Mamma says “ watch your back if someone is that polite “
Going there in June for family wedding and can't wait to have pilipino buffet. Tuyo🥰, haven't had that in 36 years, can't wait. Yes, rice a must when eating pilipino food like adobo, kare kare, and more. It made me laugh when you ask the lady if they have steam rice, lol! 🤣 We live in Boston and we are deprive when it comes to pilipino food 😮💨
This was an honest to goodness Filipino buffet.. nothing fancy just very good food at a very great price
The chooks behind is the Parsons nose. Not only UK is it called that. Other countries like Australia, New Zealand do as well. l knew the term from childhood
Yeah, I did not use the right term for in the video, but really enjoy that part
I ‘met’ George. Few days ago on the video where you went to PLACE WHERE THEY SERVED THE FOOD MS YOU WERE TALKING TO THE COUPKE AEATED MEXT TO YOU. JE SEEMS LIKE A RELLY NICE GUY. MAKE VIDEOS WITH HIM MORE OFTEN,
Jorge is certainly a class act... Very good guy!
Loved when you ate the pork blood! Lol!!
I love that blood dish too.. dinaguan is awesome! (for a special occasion treat!)
Yeah, who would have thought it would be that good 😉
You are a gem. You had me in tears with the drink and the pork blood....LOL... Love your adventures.
It was certainly an unexpected experience.. I did not know grilled pork blood actually absorbs all moisture from one's mouth.. leaving an inescapable mouthful of dry irony livery crumbles... The hydration from the drink accentuates the flavors all of a sudden 😆
It most certainly is an acquired taste.
Yeah, it's always fun to stay in the Vegas strip.. the pork blood stew was very nice indeed
Me so hungry now , great video
Only a couple of things there I would eat. You are quite brave and adventurous Tim.
Yeah, they had much tamer stuff but it's kind of fun to try all the different items. The buffet was very nice with many comforting dishes.
Why did you take such a big portion of the pork blood.? You took and ingested a huge piece.
You are a brave man 👨🏻
Yeah, talk about biting off more than you can chew 😆
In UK we call the chicken butt the parson's nose and we used to fight over when I was growing up. My Dad used to win lol.
Thank you so much and that’s what I meant to say! I knew it didn’t sound right when I said it, but couldn’t think of the right words
I live near both places and have yet to try Toto's. I almost went there today... I missed both the refrigerator and the rice cooker at Kusina Ni Lorraine when I went a couple of weeks ago. While at Kusina Ni Lorraine when, I bought a Poppin' Cookin' kit. lol
Glad to hear you visit the Filipino Buffet too! How did you like it?
Made me feel "homesick"!-Enjoy....
It's nice to find some comforting food 🙂
Omg 😆 the best laugh I had to see your face when you ate the pork blood. It was priceless 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Oh, yeah...I guess grilled pork blood is an acquired taste 😉
That buffet is a great deal! Even if someone was to go and only eat a few items it would still be worth it! Oh and I was laughing so hard with your facial expressions on the blood lol. I love trying new and different things and I definitely don't like everything. It's fun to try though your right! :)
I would definitely give the grilled pork blood a pass ... But the blood stew at the buffet, excellent! 😋
Hahaha! I literally opened my mouth when I saw Tim's facial reaction on the grilled pork blood😅.
I lived on Kusina ni Lorraine's food when i was living in vegas...
I think the chicken tail is called the "pope's nose". At least that's what we called it. Ha Ha
we always called it the "parsons nose".
@@nowhereusa We were Catholic. Ha Ha
You're right! I meant to call it the Pope's nose ...
Ah yes, the west coast, so rainy and wet that it's constantly plagued with droughts. 🥴I think you've got your coasts mixed up! LOL, jokes aside, great video as always!!
Thank you very much 🙂. Yeah, it's a bit different here in Vancouver 😉
