I have the Forgeworld Lufgt Huron just sitting waiting for inspiration to hit me and seeing this video it makes me think that it could be time to start that Astral Claws army...
Awesome job! I love scenic bases. I am an AOS painter but painted up Ghazghkull and did a little converting to make him fit into AOS. He is on a jungle scenic base and really stands out on the shelf.
Scenic bases are a true display of skill! Making one that isnt over the top but still adds loads of character is such a satisfying challenge. Impressive stuff I LOVE the way the 2 marines are falling away from him as if in slow-mo!!
You could use a Compass-Cutter instead of a power-tool. They might be intended for paper, but also work fine on polystyrene if you give them a few passes. although i have only used them on plane sheets yet and dont now, how convenient they are on a structured surface. Edit: Jakkob Bugmanson would have deserved a scenic base. he is one of the most awesomely set u characters imo
@@MediocreHobbies like i said: Time (and ellbowgrease. i used it for a slot in a diorama, just like you did here. although i cut 2mm mdf. still took me the entire hobby-time of that day, but it was a very satisfactory result
Great job! I personally would havee bulked out the empty space with cardboard or a-foil a little before applying the filler just to use less of it and giving me a little more surface to work with
Awesome!! What helmet is on his shield? Thanks in advance! I have half or Icepelt, my first named character for 40k I would like to do a scenic base for him. I’m new to 40k so he’s probably not that big of a deal, but I still wanna do it and play around. Maybe get some rubric marines for him to trash! Haha!! Thanks you!!!
Good tutorial, I think it looks well. Interestingly I went the other way with my Perturabo and removed his scenic base, so he wasn't surfing on a half destroyed knight.
You could have made a blue stuff template and made some thin milliput copies. Cut them around a base with the knife. I would have done this because I am way too stingy to use the original plastic parts to cut things :)
I think Rann having silver all over the place is a nod to the Executioners chapter that he becomes the first chapter master of. Their colours are silver with yellow shoulders.
As we chatted about on stream. It should be back soon. Best thing you can do is use the email me function in website. The more people who click on that the faster it will be back.
for cutting out the circle, should have drilled a hole and used a tiny hand saw. the kind with a bow. take of the blade from one side and slide through then attach back to the bow. the proper name is eluding me right now
I can’t stop focusing on the black now…. Super video and you did a great job for an amazing mini. Bravo.
Thank you so much pal. And I know as soon as I said it I knew it would ruin it for some people lol
Great base build there brother and amazing paint job always a joy to watch
Thank you pal.

Nice pal. Hope you do jump on that project and get it done.

That sounds awesome, a model like him definitely deserves to stand out!

Hahah really glad you like it. Ye the falling marines are from a forgeworld Angron.

Ye a compass cutter is what I was thinking just not sure about thick plastic. And yes he deserves a great base.

Imperial fists have so many cool characters. Mini looks great mate👍🏻
Cheers pal.
Jeweler's saw. They are fantastic for getting shapes cut and you can easily file and fill any mistakes made.
Awesome, thanks for that, might look in to getting one of those! cheers for the comment!
This model is so good. Im kicking myself for not grabbing one, I need it for a conversion. Great build man!
Still available on the gw site Pal. Make sure you do grab one. He is stunning.
Awesome tutorial. You've inspired me to make a base for Geigor Fellhand.
That’s ace dude please share with me if you do. I’d love to see it.
to reduce the amount holesaw carnage, I'd suggest looking into a jewler saw, (only downside it takes longer and you need to cut freehand)
Ye see I know that would work but unless it was on a compass or something it wouldn’t be perfectly circle and that would drive me crazy.
@@MediocreHobbies in theory you could create a metal disc using your hole saw and use it as a guide.
Looks awsome man! The base my man deserves!
100%.
Kinda sas fafnir comes without a scenic base, so this is helpfull.
Ye it would have been nice for him to have one glad you found it helpful.
I wanted to do something cool like this ever since Rann came out. Great work.
Thanks dude.

Not a bad idea. Thanks for the tip.
Excellent Andy
Cheers pal.
This came out awesome!
Thank u. I’m as surprised as you are lol
Super cool! Been messing around with converting my SoH so will definitely give the tips a go!
Great to hear that, hope they help!
Fantastic work! Well done! :D
I think radigast on sleigh or tree beard could do with an amazing base!
Two great ideas.
@@MediocreHobbies agree! Would be great! :D
Looks awesome! I might try to do something similar with my Rann.
You should go for it. I’d love to see what you do.
I’m going to have to give this a go sometime. Yours look great
Cheers dude. And make sure you do.
Amazing video man!
Cheers dude.
Well done! Very well done! 👌🏻👌🏻
Thank you pal.
Very cool. Great job! 👍🏻
Thank you so much pal.

That sounds awesome. You should give it a try. You won’t regret it. And as for the helmet I’m not sure it’s covered buy a cloth thing.
Ronseal! Does exactly what is says on the tub!
Hahahhaha cheers.
I jewelers saw would allow you to get a closer circle and but requires a bit more effort.
I will look into getting a jewellers saw at some point, it does seem to be what I should have used for this project!
Good tutorial, I think it looks well. Interestingly I went the other way with my Perturabo and removed his scenic base, so he wasn't surfing on a half destroyed knight.
You monster lol. What did you do with his amazing base. And what kind of base is he on now?
I'd love to see Napoleon Bonaparte from Warlord Games' new Epic Waterloo range get a scenic base!
That’s an amazing idea. And for sure a model that deserves it.
I'm going to try something like this for my Rann. he's been waiting for me to get back to him
Do it. He deserves it!
Algorithm n stuff. Was just reading about Alexis Polux and how he carried Warsmith Dantioch after his death. Love Hersey Lore.
It such a great scene. And yes the lore is just amazing.
May need to do one of these for my 'Master of the Hounds' with my custom Chapter
Well yes, yes you do. That sounds very cool!
You could have made a blue stuff template and made some thin milliput copies. Cut them around a base with the knife. I would have done this because I am way too stingy to use the original plastic parts to cut things :)
I have so much necromunda terrain to do. So plenty of spare parts. But your point is valid. Thanks for sharing.

You might be right there! That makes sense! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Been searching high and low for this model only places seem to be eBay that have it available, do we think games workshop will ever restock it ?

I think I know the one you mean. But I was reading it a healers saw came to my mind. Hmmm
Sure an Apthocaries Narthecium should work too 🤣
@@MediocreHobbies it's a Portland Saw
What filler did you use?
Just normal none crack polly filler.
defend Terra!
Always.
