I remember this when it first aired and loved the comment, "I don't let anybody rent space in my head." That may be the best life coaching advice out of the history of Candid Camera. The late Fred Rogers not being perturbed after being given hotel room with no TV saying, "I have enough TV in my life" is probably in second place.
The Reverend Rogers episode was the best! I wonder if this is where the not letting people live rent free in the head phrase came from that’s trending amongst Gen Z.
@@SRose-vp6ew Its origin is much earlier in an Ann Landers column where she said, “Hanging onto resentment is letting someone you despise live rent-free in your head.”
I love that the woman’s kid unknowingly did Funt’s job when he pointed out to his Mother the sign that read ‘we don’t give change’!!! I guess we know who’s taking over Candid Camera!😂
It's amazing how many things were on Candid Camera, decades ago... and Democrats ended up turning them into reality. It's like they watched the show, and said "You know, that's actually a good idea, if you really think about it."
In all seriousness, we should round everything to the quarter. So everything should either cost exactly to the dollar or increments of 25 cents. This way, the only coins we carry are the quarters.
When I used to live in Winona, Minnesota, Kwik Trip had a sign next to their registers for awhile that said that there was a coin shortage all over the Country so they did not give change. I told them that was ridiculous and I didn't believe it. I'm glad that I don't live there anymore.
That one guy was trying to pretend that he was cool with it and then was going to have someone kneecap the cashier in the parking lot later. Until it was revealed it was a recorded joke.
I have always wondered if Candid Camera compensated in any way the random people for appearing on the show. Giving them some free candy just doesn't seem to make it!
I was the young lady whose son saw the sign. This was done at cannery row in Monterey Cali. I received a check for about $30 since I signed the waiver.
❤ he has grown into a happy friendly entrepreneur and can be found on UA-cam under Jacob Heppner - my daughter that was silent in the video was just vacationing at Monterey(from Michigan )with her husband and baby (he had never been) - she made sure to try and find the warehouse where that was filmed. Sweet memories- have a great day
@@momhepp. I bet it was really nothing to you, even though it was still $30. You came off to me as an affluent woman 💵. Anyway, beside that.. I wanted to know was this the first time you saw yourself After all these years, or just on UA-cam?
Oh gosh, affluent…not at all. At the time, we lived in a 2/1 house, single income living paycheck to paycheck. We homeschooled our kids, so we were all able to go along with my husband/daddy for a agriculture business conference a few hours away. A $30 check was nice at the time!! We were notified when we got the check, when it would air. We watched it that night. This was before you could record, back in 1995 or 96?? This is the first time I’ve seen it since.
I hate carrying around alot of money & change which is why I always use credit cards. So much simpler. That way I always give the exact amount on credit. Unless the place charges a fee to use credit THEN I will use cash to save a few cents.
Wow, back when people still had a sense of humor and some decorum. Even if they were a bit put off or didn't agree with the policy, nobody flew off the handle or started making demands or threats with their cellphone out. I almost forgot people used to be that way. Funny how putting a tiny camera in everyones hand has made public behavior so much worse; you'd think it wouid be the opposite. 🙃

I wish I had a time machine so I could go back to the 1990's, when laughing made you feel good. These days, laughing only gives a little relief from the pain humans are emitting. A little laugh should not be followed by a little tear. Shame on the lefties for trying to emotionally shame the rest of us, and for something they know nothing of in the first place.
Sadly, I could barely laugh. I automatically dismissed it because I just walked through a “Self Checkout” aisle that had a huge sign that read “No Cash. Cards Only.” 😉
A key ingredient to the show is that it is NOT phony so as to get real reactions. They have shown a smattering of times where somebody did recognize Candid Camera staff. I suspect there are more cases, but those don't make the edit as it spoils the gag.
That last guy looks like the authentic character that every actor emulates in every Italian gangster mob movie lol !!
It was almost like he was planning to come back one evening to settle the score 😂
The way that guy stared straight ahead and flatly said "thank you" was so funny. Decent guy, you can tell he's just not going to sweat nonsense.
😂😂😂
You are right...Hilarious!! That blank #expressionless stare 🤣🤣🤣‼
He’s probably from places where he’s used to not getting change back 🫥
"I don't allow any people to rent space in my head " lol! That's a good one...😎
There's probably no space there to rent.
He was basically saying that trolls don't affect him... long, long ago.
He did Seem a bit flaky Lol
"I don't sweat anything!!!"
that's a mafia boss right there 😂
Love that New Yorker! "I don't let anybody rent out any space in my head." Classic!

This is great, I love candid camera. I wish more people were like the guy who said he doesn't sweat the small stuff
I wish I were more like him!
take the chip under the skin

Cute 😊 if the adults aren’t paying attention, the kids definitely are 😂
Yea, the kid has a lot of cerebral muscle, and has now transfered it all to his body
Another great video!!! Thanks for making my day so much brighter.
Peter, "It started with the penny".
Just wait until they don't give $100s back. Then we're going to see some real s*****.
I just wished these clips was longer though. Perhaps that may "change" 😂
That guy is the closest thing to a real life version of Kramer's Serenity Now attitude.
I don’t sweat anything.. I’m going to start living like that 😎
Sad that many places actually do this today. They could never imagine this would become reality. Cash is freedom
They will shame you into leaving them your change. "We will donate your change to kids with cancer. You love kids with cancer, don't you?"
What a great show. I'm not only smiling, I'm laughing my head off! 🥰
"I don't sweat anything." - This guy is my vibe, going forward
ha ha...that little boy had it figured out.
The natural reactions of people that aren't trying to be funny are the funniest !! 😂 🤣
RIP Suzanne
*Nowadays, I noticed people (at the convenience store) sometimes just walk away from coins as if they’re not worth holding.*
Why are you hanging around stores creeping on other people?
"I don't let anybody rent any space in my head" LOL, this guy has to be from New York no doubt about it!
Last two reactions were mind blowing ❤ 😂😂😂
Peter is the greatest!
I love him!
Oddly enough....this really did happen after Covid. Life imitates art.

2:53 I don't allow anyone to rent space in my head😂❤. Old school REAL TALK.❤
Back then, change went a long way. You could buy a candy bar for sixty cents, and still get change back.
Back in my day I could get a Hershey and a cherry fizz for a nickel. You kids today with your twitternets and socialised media flippity fiu.
I have not been getting change back for years. So many stores ask you to round up. I gave up.
We finally found the dude who coined “I don’t let nobody rent space in my head” 😂😂
That's bad grammar.
Back in my day McDonald’s had a dollar menu! Oh wait… that was like 5 years ago lol
Whatever meds that guy in blue is on, I want some!!!😂😂

Good job Marty
I lived in Rio de Janeiro for many years and it is indeed customary to not give change. I questioned it for awhile but you can't argue with culture.
I experienced this at a petrol/gas station a couple of months ago. It wasn’t Candid Camera, just a thieving cashier.
When I used to live in Winona, Minnesota, Kwik Trip had a sign next to their registers for awhile that said that there was a coin shortage all over the Country so they did not give change. I told them that was ridiculous and I didn't believe it. I'm glad that I don't live there anymore.

I did just ask for another piece of candy worth 50 cents. I had bought the stick rock candy. They did cut that off

People aren't this polite nowadays.
I find it surprising/unsettling that people just accepted it and walked away.
So funny 😂😂😂😂😂
That was great thanks !
That was a cute episode!
The last woman was looking past, Peter, as if she knew the camera was there!
@peterfunt8622 thank you, Peter! I never heard the explanation, and I appreciate it🥰
Wish CC would make a comeback☺️
Me too!
All things must change.
Based on his facial expression I thought he would have knocked Peter off for stealing his money. But he was way cooler inside. Bravo.
Even the rude people back then were nicer than the average people today.
These days you would’ve gotten a punch in the face! What a good sports!
How people were I much more calm 24 years ago...Imagine Candid Camera filmed today!! They should do a reboot
Have another drink.
It’s like cash only sign 😂
Is that Mr Roger's talking?
If no change, then round it down.
Strange change.
Many stores don't take cash now. No debit or credit card = no candy for you. :/
Back when sixty cents could still get you a cup of coffee and a piece of pie.
That's sweet. 😉😂😂😂
I hate carrying around alot of money & change which is why I always use credit cards. So much simpler. That way I always give the exact amount on credit. Unless the place charges a fee to use credit THEN I will use cash to save a few cents.
I remember when there were cash registers.
This version of Suzanne Somers is more beautiful than Chrissy Snow.
50 cents in 1999 adjusted for inflation = $3 in 2024
I WANT MY CHANGE
Why was Peter Funt on this show? I am sure people recognized him
Where's my change!! 😡
I don't let anybody rent space 🌌 in my head? 🤯
Now it's getting even worse. The employees are demanding tips for half ass work. Putting the tip computer in your face.
RIP
This has come to pass want us to round up to some nonprofit and make the CEO of the nonprofit RICH
🤣🤣🤣
Let's all round it up? 😳
Peter is so convincing that he could sell a wetsuit to a person that has a fear of water.
If I was scared of water, I feel like I’d want a wetsuit so the water won’t touch me

That's crazy I seen a black woman destroy the inside of a burger king because she was shorted a chicken nugget.
lol don't open that door

Obama: give me your change? 😳
This wouldn't work anymore because credit cards.
I can remember when a candy bar was 50 cents
How special for you.
There's no f'in way she's 53 in this.
Due to covid
Suzanne was hot🔥 and beautiful? 😪 RIP.

that one looked staged.
