I agree with you, but the nice thing about the 1945 ending is that you can almost plan how long the game will be! But sometimes, the US hasn't been able to get as involved as it historically did, thus giving the Axis a bit too much free rein...
Hello Dean, thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, you use your A&A units to fill the map, but, yes, there are more units needed than your A&A game will provide. Some people order what they need from HBG, while others dab some paint on their A&A pieces to make different units, such as Militia or Mountain troops. I also know that some people ignore some of the more obscure units until they can afford to flesh out the game more fully, so it can certainly be done in stages. Hope that helps!

Hello Caesar, thanks for watching! Yes, most neutral nations collect income, as even the Major nations are considered "neutral" until the are at war with another Major power. (Table 4-3 on pg 20 of the rule book.) Now, if you mean the little neutral countries that have no alignment or control by a Major power, then typically, they do not, as no one is allowed to run their economy in any way at all. If you consult Table 4-3, that is probably your best bet to know if any of the small neutrals should have economies. Essentially, if they are aligned or controlled by a Major power, they can collect an income and it is used at the behest of that Major power's player. Hope that helps!
Hey there, BWAF, yes, most of us need to recycle our A&A pieces in order to play this game. Too costly to purchase them new. Not sure how to answer the neutrals question, but depending on the situation, the neutrals will either be attracted to a particular faction, or already are. instead of playing Axis Allies or this Global War game...I just made a new Risk game that has a game board that is 4-5 times larger than the original game board, and simply add a few things from Axis Allies ( specifically "air-power" ) to Risk and it has made Risk far more interesting and challenging and do not have the complexity of Axis Allies. I made my own Risk game board from scratch, and added 12 new territories and added one more continent ( Greenland)

Longer process... If you can, find an actual video camera. They are a bit cheaper, and tend to have more features, although cameras are becoming pretty loaded...for a cost.

Sorry for the delay in responding...not sure how I missed this! Yes, once the map is flattened, it remains that way quite nicely! I usually just tape down the corners with a little packing tape. No problems!
It's a vinyl map, so if you spill, you just wipe it off - no muss, no fuss! (I speak from experience!) The map, the charts, the boards, the pieces, the dice...all of them will outlive any of us. Unless the dog likes to eat them. (I speak from experience!)
They do have some similarities in that they both use many of the same units and rules. 1936 is intended to be a much more immersive game, and with the expansions, you will have a more in-depth experience to the various aspects of war. 1939 is much less complicated, but still a fabulous game! If you want more historical accuracy, then 1936 is for you, but if you want a faster game, then 1939 is what you are looking for. Thanks for watching!

Good question! HBG's game maps are sold on their own. The belief is that anyone getting into the game will probably already have A&A games and will be able to populate the board with those pieces. For this game, there are a number of unique units that you will eventually need to purchase from HBG, but some of the unique units are not required for play - they just enhance the game experience. For instance, you don't have to have all the different tanks available (I think there are three for Germany), and can just play with one to start with. That will give you less options for purchasing, but you can still play the game. As you crave a more immersive experience, you can add those units to the game by purchasing them from HBG. Special units, markers, facilities, and expansions are all available to give you a much richer experience when playing the game! I hope that helps! If you have any other questions, please ask. The 1936 map is gorgeous, but I also think it is somewhat less interesting than the 1939 map, particularly in that it reduces the number of sea zones in the Mediterranean considerably.
Interesting point. I think that the map was simplified in some respects, but with rail and convoys, the inter-connectedness of everything is much more realized. And with the political sub-game added, more options. I suspect there will be many ideas as to the pros and cons of the changes, and there may be rule shifts as time goes on to help with that. I have played '39 many more times than '36, and they really are very different games!
I LOVE this game, AND the 12D system, AND the rules, AND the starting era, AND the expansion sets (especially the the expansion units!) AND the zoning on the map. The ONLY reason I haven't decided to play this instead of A&A Global 1940 is entirely aesthetic...... the COLORS on the map kinda look like Easter Bunny colors instead of natural earth tones! Hey, I'm from OREGON. I'll probably end up using Global War's 12D Rules and Units on an A&A map, unless I can customize this map in natural tones...... OREGON!

Hello Jorun! Yes, in Axis and Allies games, it is "IPC's" (Industrial Production Certificates), but in Historical Board Gaming's games, they are called "IPP's" (Industrial Production Points). I still call them IPC's sometimes, (even in this video at 3:31) because old habits die hard!

I really like the optional rule about the variable ending. Ending in 1945 is too restrictive for me.

So Can you á unit in non comebat movement, and THEN in non-comebat movement as Well?
Nope. Just one or the other, except for aircraft, which can use the rest of their movement points.
Can you strategically bomb rail roads? If so can you explain how to?

The only one that I know of is "The Winter War" expansion, which is focused on Finland. There might be a Norwegian theatre in the works, but not sure.
