HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

The burden of duty. For many it's an incredibly hard concept to understand, especially from those that have never had any kind of responsibility towards others. And once you have carried it, it's hard to put it down.

This sounds so very much like the Anti-Nephi-Lehi people in The Book of Mormon. They were orignally Lamanite people who made a covenant with God to bury their weapons of war and then the other Lamanites turned against them and their beliefs so they fled to their old enemies the Nephites who took them in and gave them a place, and then put their Nephite armies around their lands to protect them so that they wouldn’t have to break their covenant of peace. The Lamanites attacked the Nephites and the children of the first Anti-Nephi-Lehi people made their own covenant to take up the weapons of war of their parents to defend the peace of all those who love God and became a great help to the Nephite armies, and were known as the Stripling Warriors because of their youth.

I'm young. But my joints creak. I have no stamina. My will and mind are broken. Despite yearning for things that would make my burden heavier, I've effectively given up on trying to become strong enough to shoulder them. I'm no man. I'm but an overgrown boy. Young, impulsive, too fast, no stamina, emotions on 0 or a 100 with virtually no control over them much less any hint of them being stable. I must carry this burden, but I'm already so tired that my legs are giving away under me. I'm merely avoiding tripping and getting crushed to death by the load I'm carrying at this point. I gave up on asking for help because I don't know how anyone could help me and, if there was a way, whether I'd be able to accept help. I'm tired. So damn tired..

I destroyed my life very early on. The impacts of those stupid decisions are still very significant today. However, I found my happiness, I'm not to far off retiring, and my cluster fuck of a life now serves the youth in my family.

While I applaud your narration, this was clearly written with intent. Yes the new planet is speaking Russian and the American enemies have become twisted beyond belief. The Russian speakers want peace.......hmmm. I think Ukraine should enter the chat and let us know how their civilians are doing.
