Thank you. I think this is gonna really helpful. Right out the gate when you talked about the mistake prioritizing proximity over a good line making for a horrible chase give me a better starting for next time out.

Nice! I’m glad it was helpful, that’s the goal, driving a good line solo is definitely the most important part so when you chase you can adapt to the lead driver. 🤙

Cool video and really helpful for someone new like me. I'm still getting a feel to how and when to initiate the slide. Certainly the when depends on track surface, but how to initiate is another aspect. So far I initiate the drift with throttle mostly and tap the brake if I hit too much throttle. There is one part of my local track that I've started using the brake to initiate the slide and it seems to let me carry a little more speed without careening into the wall and I'm not spinning out in the next tight sweeper. But yeah a good follow up to this for us newbs would be maybe how you're initiating your slides on this track and what the thinking is behind it👍

Good thought and I appreciate the feedback. Initiation really depends on the track layout and kinda a hard thing to explain because it is so subjective and it can play into a drivers style and preference. Once you know how your car gips with side bite you'll have a better understanding of when and how to whip it into the corner. My main goal with this video was to help new drivers understand they they aren't just chasing a lead car but actually trying to mimic their line, speed and angle, not race them to the next corner.

@@shredcraftrc Yeah definitely a lot of variables and hard to stay away from generalizations. This video is great though because at least knowing what to think about is good prep for prime time. As a newb I'm watching these wondering how you know how much space to leave for tandem. Staying in those zones you talk about is good advice, and will help avoid contact, especially in the transitions like you talked about🤙

I’m glad someone was able to pull out some useful info, it’s definitely stuff I constantly think about when I’m driving with other cars. Don’t want to impede or disrupt the lead car but try and mimic his line, the distance starts to click when you drive close and get a feeling of how they get around the track.
