I've only used the Stanley fat max and for its price I'd say its totally worth it, I've bought it since I started college at age 16 and now I'm 24 and its still going strong. I will be buying the the other one which is on the screen and I hope its durable.
I bought a non branded pair from Amazon like the Stanley style when I started my apprenticeship for about £15 and they still work perfectly now so have never updated them.
I have both, re-badged under different names. I prefer the CK ones but the blades aren’t great. If I could find replacements I’d be more than happy. Despite them being marketed as replaceable I can’t find them anywhere.
Thanks for the comparison vid, always nice to mix it up a bit with something different 🙂👍 Deleted/Edited... Due to my lack of understanding on this video i just wanted to explain for my deleted/edited negative comment, not that you can see it or that is was bad, it was just a bit negative & sarcastic asking to do a spanner comparison vid next time, properly because my judgement & expectations was clouded and i didn't realize how much went into the vid and I've seen how much work has gone into not just this channel but the hole journey, So i just wonna say SORRY to Kip for my thoughtlessness & stupidity 😥 Anyone reading this plz be aware that some comments can hurt!!! 🙂👍
If you want to use these day in day out for wiring consumer units and things like that the CK are far superior, I have used both and the Stanley stopped working after a couple of weeks but the CK are still going strong after 6+ months. For DIY the Stanley are probably easily good enough but not a professional level tool.
I have found the CK to work fine with thinner wire like 0.75 and 0.5 flex and they work ok with 4 and 5 core too. I had the Stanley and they didn't last, ok for DIY but not up to constant use day in day out.
I have seen plenty of videos about the Stanley stripper. Would someone please demonstrate how it can be used for crimping. Absolutely no information from Stanley on this function.
They are ok for crimping but dedicated tools with a ratchet mechanism are far superior so I wouldn't recommend them for crimping. Ok to do the odd crimp but not easy to get the kind of pressure required for a good crimp joint.
You really need a more specialised tool for this, I have a multitool that does cutting stripping and fitting RJ45 connectors. Much better than muddling through with generic wire strippers.
Now you can tell people that your mother got you a stripper for Christmas
Thanks for the comparison, very interesting points!
Wahey!

Buy the Knipex, then you’ll find the replacement blades.

Thanks, you've answered exactly what I as trying to fins out. I work in AV with mostly smaller cores, the Stanley should do the job at the price.
Absolutely!
As of today, Stanley ones are 20 and CK are 54 pounds on amazon.. With that kind of price difference CK ought to be better in my opinion.

I saw you doing a quick change in a phone box the other day.
How do both of these perform when stripping 3 & 5 core 0.75mm flex we use in central heating wiring? Or any flex?
Not done any 5 core.. But everything else I've used has been fine.

There’s not really much to show, it just works!

Gonna have to go with stanley
Flatmax type slips off or weak grab..i dont like it
i found my fat max no good for stripping the wires of cat 5 cable it breaks it instead of stripping

Has anyone used the CK ones on LSF t+e? The Stanley ones fall to bits pretty quickly on a commercial setting.
The CK ones are a big disappointment, they're not as well made as similar jokari ones. CK ones struggle on Regular 2.5 t&e - no chance with LSOH.
Automatic Wire Stripper is cheaper and better. CK blades just flatout s ucks
