I actually just heard about Krav Maga on Tuesday 9-22-2020. I started taking kickboxing lessons at an Anytime Fitness about six years ago to increase my activity after retirement. About two years into this, we got a new instructor , and he started teaching us Muay Thai. Now the gym wants to bring in a guy to teach a completely different class on Krav Maga. This class will be in addition to our regular Muay thai class which is two days a week. I'm going to try it, and see if my old body can handle it. I' 69 years old, and I want to be active as long as possible.
@@maliktariq5553 The TRUTH? Martial arts ≠ REAL self-defense. FUNCTIONAL SELF-DEFENSE is not about belts, styles, techniques, "masters", trophies/medals, even athleticism. You can learn physical martial arts in a couple of months (techniques) of dedicated practice, but developing your MIND (tactics) takes a lifetime. It's about PRE-EMPTIVELY identifying dangers, PRIORITIZING options and outcomes, then PHYSICALLY READY to execute them. In short, your MIND is your MAIN WEAPON, hands, feet and whatever else comes second. This has been my experience for 20+ years.
This is so awesome to hear from a woman first of all and also the fact that you have trained across so many gyms across the world shows that you do find it helpful and it is worthwhile. Thank you!
I've had 2 sessions of Krav maga and I am already seeing some of the benefits, especially with self-esteem....the best way I can put it is most of my life I have been just keeping my head above the water, and Krav Maga is just giving me arm banks and pointing me towards the shore to swim back to walk on land. That's after 2 weeks when I don't know anything other than a basic palm strike and knee strike
I just started kickboxing and do it onece a month and enjoy it alot i was getting vey aggressive so i decided to start combat sports and it has helped alot
Thinking of changing from a boxing club to a Krav Maga. Checked them out today and really liked the place and the owner. I noticed he was very calm not like my coach at boxing. I’m excited and nervous to take a class tomorrow and start on a new journey. I needed to see this video tonight bc you explained everything so well in such a short time, I know nothing about Krav Maga but you’ve made it sound like exactly what I need in my life right now. Thanks for the motivation. Cheers! 💚💥
Hey Abby, sorry for the delay in replying to you - I'm stoked this video has helped you and I'm excited for the journey you're about to embark on ... it won't always be easy, but it will be rewarding! All the best!
I swear by Krav maga and was lucky enough to get one class with Master Avi Moyal and you will see the way he looks at Krav maga. He is more on technical than the brute force that generally we see in most of the classes around the World. Offcourse you need force but Force in KM is a momentary matter because at that moment you burst out. KM training or KM in real life will never work if you are afraid of hitting someone or striking so your mind should be trained on KM sessions. If required you can hit but otherwise walk in peace..
Thanks for sharing this. I have been practicing martial arts for a couple of years. I agree with you wholeheartedly about why you should learn self defense and how you can benefit from it. Stay safe and keep up the good work 😉✌️
@@JuandelaCruz001 I have done Kung Fu and Aikido in the past, but for the last five years I have been doing Ninjutsu. Krav Maga has been on my radar as well, but there wasn't a good school available close to me back then.
Bo Ismono Interesting. Bujinkan/Hatsumi? I would say ALL martial arts, in theory are "effective" BUT few are EFFICIENT (that is, producing optimal results in the least amount of time and can be hard-wired neurologically quickly too). Besides Krav, as a fellow Malay, I am proud to say that our fighting arts here in SE Asia are some of the most efficient when compared to the rest (Muay Thai, Filipino stick and blade and Malay silat).
I’ve been wondering about this. I practiced Kung Fu for years when I was younger, but haven’t been able to for quite some time now. This is very cool Viv! It’s definitely necessary to protect yourself in many of the places you go, and while you may never need to use it, it’s definitely good to know you can.
Thanks CelticShadow (apologies for our absence... there was no internet in Antarctica! Go figure!) Yeah Krav has become my main exercise when I'm home and love the confidence, skills and fitness it give me.
That was super helpful. I’m going to be signing up this month and I have no background, I’ll be as green as can be. Super pumped but thank you for the insight.
My wife and I are finishing up a 21 day free trail for are local krav maga. We've decided to commit to paying for a membership. I've really been enjoying it!
There are so many classes in UK. How do we know if we are learning the right stuff. I heard there are teachers whose teachings are not authentic nor are the skills practical like the real stuff
Thanks for the insight but it's strange you say it isn't a martial art. Nearty every aspect of what you've defined relates to the very definition of a martial art. I started Tae Kwon Do when I was ten and recently took up BJJ, and have also stuck my nose into other disciplines on occasion, and everything you've described in Krav Maga is exactly what I've experienced in these other disciplines. In short, competition isn't the defining factor of a martial art.

Hmmm. No rules, I like it. There should not be rules in a system that is designed specifically to preserve your life. Here's my system. If one were in my home and I were in eminent danger, it's a home defense shotgun. And if I were assailed in a CQB, my wonderful Governor Greg Abbot allows me to have a concealed firearm. And if I had to bug out, head for the hills, and I were to see an opposition headed my way from 1500yards, my 28Nosler is hard to beat ( and other things). These are the tools that I trust and they almost never fail me. I pray all the time that I never need them this way....
Born again Christians see martial arts in not a good light for various reasons. Once you learn about a ONE Holy God you will see martial arts and things like yoga involve “associations” with ying yang, strange poses…etc thus involving the demonic. That is the reason why born again Christians get away from it. Aside from that martial arts involve violence which by default is not about being holy. That said basic street situations and boxing are mentioned in video. In the Bible Paul does mention boxing and does not state it as wrong” plus here I think you say that it is a self defense mechanism one may well have to use. I’m still learning more about Krav Maga and how you explained it is how I have been thinking in possibly learning this. Still have to look at it more and decide. But yes, interested in learning it for all the reasons you mentioned here.

One of the most PRACTICAL physical defense methods (coming from someone who has done 6 different martial arts).
It really is, and you know it is when a small woman can defend against a large attacker - has to be good!
Excellent. Please name those 6. Always interesting to know.
Boxing
Karate (Shorin Ryu and Kyokushin)
Aikido
Tae Kwon Do (competition)
Taijiquan
Filipino Martial Arts (FMA)

Legit!
One can be less aggressive and more pragmatic when one is strong from the inside and not weak.
Why are the two guys in the back practicing take downs when KM is all about avoiding the ground in case of multiple attackers?

yup, it AVOIDS ground fighting - it also avoids fighting - full stop. But in case you HAVE to...... best get some practice in.....
I've been doing krav maga for 6 years too :)
That's great Ayan! Can't wait to get that good!
