Too many people are talking shit about this style is better or that is better. The smart person would learn the best techniques from multiple martial arts to add to his arsenal. Literally mixing martial arts.

If you want to learn it, learn it, take a class. If not go do something else and quit complaining and trying to discourage others from exploring their options in self-defense.

      Ignorant.
It is rarely necessary to go outside the realms of law to defend yourself. Learn national defense law. Learn your states defense laws. Start learning to think within those limits. You will find that, with some exceptions, you don't actually need to break the law to defend yourself, but if you don't know the law you might.
You might even train yourself to go to jail for attempted murder. People have done what their sensei said to do, only to find that it changed the situation from self defense to assault. Train for self defense, not assault. That means you need to know the difference.
It is better to avoid violence than to run from it. It is better to run from violence than to try to talk your way out of it. It is better to talk your way out of violence then to fight. It is better to fight than to become another victim.
Know the law, train smart, fight smart, survive, stay out of jail. Check out "Facing Violence" by Rory Miller and "The Law of Self Defense" by Andrew F. Branca.

I've done Krav Maga for 3 months and I have to say it's very effective and efficient. I grew up with the 'one punch knock out' which doesn't really work. If you learn the science behind Krav and how your body instantly becomes a weapon, you learn more about yourself and what you're capable of. I love it. I come from a rugby and crossfit background and I found this system super helpful.

Krav Maga is not perfect, nor is it flashy, but it is one of the best martial arts out there for street fights, and it works. This is the martial arts everybody should study for basic self defense, although not a complete system, but good enough for people.

Depends on how dedicated you are to training. A minimum of 3 days a week for several months and you'll notice a big difference. It builds off of the fundamentals so you learn to move, strike and defend properly first. It changes how you perceive your surroundings. You start thinking of safe practices when you shop and are out, avoiding 'red-zones' and ALWAYS aware. Prevention is the first key. It also instills the killer and survival mentality. You've got to be nastier than your attacker!

I think the most important aspect of Krav that is always overlooked is the mental toughness. No other training prepares your mind for the stress, fear and adrenaline dump like krav prepares you! I had to defend myself on Wednesday and even though i am a high level combat athlete the stress and fear made me choke. He did not hit me and i ended it with a left mayweather jab to the chin cutting open his jaw, i still was not prepared mentally for this and i lost all confidence even though i won.

In around a few hours of solid training you should be able to learn about the 360 degree defence, the fence, the cover & strike, how to punch/slap/gouge and looking for your escape etc. The real issues are adrenaline/fatigue and pressure. You will lose your fine motor skills under a pressurised attack. Krav Maga teaches us to work from a position of disadvantage. You CANNOT learn what a vicious and/or group attack feels like on the body from a DVD, but it does add to your knowledge pool.

Instructor training is 180 hours of intensive training and tuition. 4 weeks full time from 8a.m. till 6p.m. Minimum requirement to attend the course is 3 years experience in a 'striking' form of martial art or a KM background and reference from KM instructor. Police records and doctors certificate of good health. Attending and completing the course is not a guarantee of passing there is a whole day of testing at the end.The video series might be 7 hours but it's not suggesting only train 7 hours

You're right, there is no substitute for proper training but dvd's like this can be helpful especially if you already train in another style (preferably one with mats) you can put the techniques into practice, there's always something handy to find when you look into other martial arts but there's just not enough days in the week to train in all of them separately

That is the thing, i have not studied in krav maga. I have trained in Muay thai since i was a young teen and then made the transition to mma. You think mma would prepare you for a street fight but no, i can honestly say that it is just a combat sport. That is why i got interested in Krav so i could condition my mind and get used to those high stress situations. I have not had the chance to get into krav but i still believe no other Martial art can give you that mental edge like krav.

  • @killerkravist

The groin kick is emphasized because it is a very, very simple technique that can help level the playing field for people who are smaller. Just because I CAN do a spinning heel kick doesn't mean I SHOULD do a spinning heel kick when a groin kick has a higher success rate and leaves me less vulnerable to counterattack.

I have been doing martial arts for about 14 years I have a black belt in tae kwon do. I have trained in other types of self defense....nothing in the world beats learning in a studio. When you have a instructor there to practice with and spar with.
    My personal opinion.

If it works you probably did it correctly, just make sure you don't take it too far because you can really end up getting hurt. Do it slowly and meticulously before you get into it harder and faster. Make sure you have someone to work with and that one of you has previous martial arts experience so that they know when to stop and not to go to far. Do exactly what the instructor says and you should be okay although you'll probably get hit a few times before you both get the controlled thing down.

If you attend at Krav Maga's lessons, there are rules. MMA is a sport and Krav Maga is a discipline of self defense. I don't understand why some instructors in this video made a comparaison between those two disciplines since their goals are different. There's absolutely no point in comparing them. I think Krav Maga's lethal techniques are taught in the army but not in the civilian society. It's renowned for his effectiveness, not his speech contrary to what these instructors make in this video :)

Yeah I'm doing BJJ and muay thai right now. Although when my contract ends, I'm really thinking about doing krav maga. Since I do realize the importance of training for real world scenarios. Since a lot of our teachers teach a lot of sport oriented stuff, although I respect them for that. I'm smart enough to realize its a different world on the street.

  • @Saiarts_yt
    @Saiarts_yt 4 роки тому

Honestly I can respect either krav maga or russian systema as military oriented combat/martial art. The statement is, there is a difference between being warrior and a fighter. Being a warrior emphasis foundations and using hand to hand combat of nesseccary from their strength. Fighter on the other hand knows combat but having to compete in consistantly for its skills. Both have their skills, mentality, and a wills to win. However you define it that's your opinion. Drawing relation to this video, the combat is used to using combat in fast efficient skills to win the fight quickly. If used creatively, you will be dead or chances of injury are possible. Therefore Krav Maga is oriented in warrior because there is no neccessary movements but rather to stay relaxed and combat ready. I don't participate in Krav Maga. But lookong at its movement, it is fast.

I think Krav Maga makes sense on many levels, the issue I have with it is the disarming knife weilders or gunmen. Let's face it, the assailants here give up their knives too easily. In reality, if faced with a knife, one way or another you're going to get cut. If faced with a gun, you're taking a massive, massive risk in trying to disarm them.

Interesting...trained in Muay Thai, currently in western world boxing and now will begin in Krav Maga !!! Here's the thing I find, with any form of disciplined training respect that art...if its similar or different it was developed and highly respected by the ones who created it and the ones who train in it...I look forward to training in Krav Maga and hopefully will never have to use it

The principle of martial arts is to defend oneself but not to play the hero or to survive at any cost, the forces of the order can kill but not you, sometimes it is better to avoid a fight than to To throw in and if it is the case to be the first to strike and to aim the vital points, I practice Aikido.

I love the whole mma argument krav maga people people keep bringing up. There are rules but I guarentee that the live sparring environment (boxing and grappling) prepares one far more for a street confrontation than any sanitised training in a krav maga school. Most of the techniques used in Krav and many other reality based styles can never be tested as they might hurt or kill your opponent. I said MIGHT because you won't know if it does or if you can pull it off in an adrenalised state.

  • @debasismohanty58

Everything works either it is kravmaga karate or plain boxing even just going to gym regularly or just doing freehand exercises helps! The thing is that your body should be fit and free to be used by your mind its mostly phsycology and luck or situation so be prepared anyway you can all at the last is same. One more thing the shooters will not point a gun or pistol but will shoot you with surprise from a distance they think safe for themselves or they think can surely kill you so its also luck if you are alarmed and the bullet misses be easy for life is uncertain.

Most of the martial arts included in MMA didn't start out as sports, either. They were self-defense techniques and disciplines, just like Krav Maga. The fact is, some Krav-Maga techniques can be implemented in MMA, as long as they fit the rules.

This is not pure Krav Maga, this is a "watered down" version of it. In other words this guy took Krav and mixed it with another martial arts form, in this instance it's Brazilian Jui Jitsu. In pure Krav you will not see the fancy jump-on-the-bad-guy's-shoulders routine. Krav is about getting in and getting out as fast as you can while inflicting the most damage possible providing a safe escape. If you want one of the best in the world check out Ron Rotem (instructor at K.A.M.I. and student of Eli Avikzar) here on UA-cam. You will see excellent examples of what pure Krav looks like. There is only one place in the US that teaches and has been authorized to teach pure Krav, and that's in NYC. The man running it was an instructor with Ron at K.A.M.I.

krav is wonderful. anything that helps a victim is worth knowing. krav is proven. in defense of other arts not everyone will react the same way you did, I understand fight or flight but if you werent a high level fighter you may not have won. if someone violently knocks you to the ground and attacks, it may take a second to come to your senses but if youre trained, youll do what your trained to do. an untrained person has nothing to rely on. im not arguing whats best but having nothing is worst.

Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo is widely recognied as one of the greatest martial artist. And why? He got the traditional jiu-jitsu with lots of kata nad eye gouge and other traumatic attacks, cut this part, and made a system where you are able to train toe to toe with your partner with full strenght and technique. If you don't practice full contact fighting, just katas or non resisited drill, then you are weak, fact.

Did you watch the video? They explicitly said trained martial artists would likely do well, but they train for sport and not real life situations. They weren't down on them at all. The fact remains that the average Joe is not Bruce Lee (Though Bruce trained for real life, not sport) or Mike Tyson. And yes...even Rampage Jackson has months to prepare for his equally trained and sized opponent. That's not saying any of them wouldn't survive a street encounter at all

I can join any outfit and be the most effective fighter. I am not big, I am not strong and I am not fast. I do however have the mindset of Sun Tzu in his book The Art of War. I burn into memory the terrain and all major infrastructures of the land, I have memorized the range, accuracy and potency of all handheld weapons with hundreds of hours put into each one and I have hundreds of plans ready for execution for hundreds of possible scenarios and I study the enemies behavior during battle. In another words in battle the most deadly weapon is the brain. We don't emphasize that enough. But then, most of the U.S. enlisted are bottom of the population, unable to get a job in civilian life or have some unrealistic romantic image of battle, heck we even accept non English speaking illiterates in exchange for American citizenships, basically mercenaries who don't give a dam what values we are fighting for. Most I have met can not even effectively read a map.
Sun Tzu treated war as a science and a chess game, rarely did he emphasize or even mention being able to bench press 500 pounds or having intimidating tattoos. Yes, I am a black belt, but rarely did it ever get to that. Great for taking down a 200 pound 6'4" muscle head, but not the most important. In fact I would consider the discipline and philosophy learned during martial arts training to be more valuable than the breaking boards and jumping over people's head parts.
Want to be a effective fighter? Exercise the mind. Learn, meditate and maximize what ever I.Q. one may have. One master soldier can take down literally hundreds of monkey fighters.

Woah fuck you buddy. I have 4 brothers who enlisted, and from your tone it sounds like they are all 10 times the man you'll ever be. On top of that, my brother Harley is one of the most determined, intelligent and practical people I know, so before you go calling the U.S. Enlisted the "bottom of the population," think of how much of a generalization that is. There are hundreds of enlistees that are enlisted only because they want to serve their country but want a life outside the military, and still others who join because it is a noble cause, both of which are far more honorable than your intentions sound. The way it sounds to me is that you are only in it for the glory, and while you probably aren't alone, that's still a dishonorable and foolish reason. I also dry highly doubt you spent hundreds of hours studying all varying techniques of say, a stapler. But the point of this is not to doubt you, but to impress on you why you should check yourself before you say shit like that, because I guarantee that there is somewhere out there tougher than you, who could fuck you up, and they will if they hear shit like that coming out of your mouth.

Who the fuck are you to judge men and woman with twice courage and honor you will ever know. Your stereotyping shows your lack of discipline and knowledge. I'm leaving for Marine Corps. boot camp this Sunday and it pisses me off that I might die one day so morons like you can think your some sort of special because you have a black belt. You know that just means you've mastered basics, I know plenty of black belts that wouldn't be able to handle themselves in a real fight and white belts who can handle themselves just fine.

Where can I find this video of Silva training in Krav ? I have done some research but I have found nothing. However, I saw a video of Anderson Silva with some bodyguards. Therefore, I guess he has nothing to fear on the street :)

First of all ,good job.You should be proud for defending your family.I think that was all the presurre about though. If you were on the street you could be calmer, with only yourself to protect.Or after 1-2 times you get used to it.But I think, you never get used to your family being under danger.Everything spins in you head,"what if?" I try to put my head around the logic, that If I loose my cool I have too much to loose,I get stupid you know..

Krav Maga is a form of martial arts. You could use it in MMA, but it might not be as effective as others for the sport of MMA itself.

im sorry but those situations in which the guy disarms a dude with a gun is total bullshit. If someone points a gun at you, your first instinct should NEVER be to do anything that might provoke your attacker to fire at you

Yeah in the DVD it shows the technique if the threat is intending to kill.
In my Krav class the first thing the teacher tells us is to surrender everything and get out the situation unharmed. The same with knife attacks, "Don't be a hero" as he says.
You also have to remember that Krav was invented to be used on the battlefield where people would be shooting to kill, so in that way a gun disarm could save your life. Unlikely, but it's better than doing nothing.

Yeah exactly, when it was all over i was shaking and could not think properly.I was victim of a home invasion actually and even though i made those fuckers leave and my young family was not hurt because the stakes were so high there was so much pressure on me i was not used to that and basically mentally folded. I sparred a million rounds but that will never prepare you for a real dangerous situation on the street you know.
