Thank you!!!! I have used this video several times now to sew packing cubes for myself and my family. My in-laws are using theirs right now on their month-long trip to Africa! Thank you so much for creating this. It is very clear, helpful, and I especially love the extra tips like reinforcing the seams with bias tape.
Thank you for this video😀 I love my IKEA packing cubes but they fray so much! So now I'm getting myself some of that non-rip Nylon and make this into my next sewing project🙂
Thanks for this. I've been scouring UA-cam this evening for an appropriate bag to use for storing sewing project supplies. I don't have a dedicated sewing room and rarely get around to making up projects straight away, needless to say that by the time I do I've misplaced something. I'll be making up a couple of these to store the "ingredients" for a project; fabric, pattern, notions/embelishments etc. May make this a little deeper or larger or both and perhaps a vinyl external pocket listing contents/planner page. Many thanks for the tutorial.
Excellent tutorial - thank you! I made a couple of these a few years ago using interfaced cotton for the body but I really like your idea of using ripstock. I also used two zippers that meet in the middle in the front. I used a heavy gauge clear vinyl for the top without any mesh, and yes it was a bit tacky to feed through the machine. If I do another one a rolling foot or a non stick foot may help with that.
Thank you for this video. Do you think that outdoor fabric would also work for this project? It is water resistant and comes in many prints. Or another fabric I have is an oil cloth or laminated fabric would these work?

This was a very interesting video. I do like that cube idea. May try and make one.
Thanks for watching!
Wow! that's great. Do you have a sewing project how to sew a traveling dress bag for suits and gowns for a wedding. Thanks for this tutorial
Nope, but the process would be similar to this, just on a bigger scale.
Thank you. I was away without wi fi. Would you be able to make a tutorial?
Pretty awesome. I’ll have to try this one.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for the great tutorial!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the pattern & video tutorial! I was wondering why you use mesh plus vinyl instead of just vinyl?
I answered that in my post about this; click on through in the description to see my reasoning.
Lorem Ipsum mesh is see-trough so you are able to see what is in it
Great video and economical tip.
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic tutorial!! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the beautiful idea
Thanks for watching!
I wish you success

I can't say for sure because I haven't tried either type of fabric on this specific project.
How did you determine how long to cut the side piece and Tab 2. .I’d like to make a smaller one.
The sides need to equal the circumference of the top at the seamline plus seam allowances.
The radius of the rounded corners makes a huge difference in hoe the sides fit!! 2" is about right.
👍🏼
Very helpful, thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much for your tutorial! I have a question: Is the waterproof fabric you use like the one used in umbrellas?
It's similar.
Since my mom have project going, I am going to make one, wondering if Can I use fleece brand from Joanns or Flannel brand?
I haven't sewn this in another fabric so I couldn't say for sure how it would work.

Thanks a lot. Good job.
Thanks for watching!
Now I can easily pack my clothes in my suitcase
Glad it's helpful!
have u tried to use gift wrap tissue paper under the rip stop material to help it feed through rather than changing the tension?
No, because then you have to deal with the paper, whereas adjusting the pressure fixes the issue as the sewing machine was designed to.
Is there a way to make this into a double zipper compression cube?
I haven't tried that, if you do let us know how it goes!
Thanku so much for this vedio🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for watching!
Thanks, these are so expensive to buy. Do you have any ideas about making the double-zipped compressible cubes?
Sew two of these and then quilt the bottoms together.
Where can I get the vinyl?
Should be linked in the post linked in the video description
I see the actual instructions of how to sew this packing Cube, however I don't see a pattern. Am I looking in the wrong place?
There is a list of dimensions in that post, not a pattern. This is all rectangles.
Melly Sews Thank you.
I can’t find the link for the fabric and pattern.
It's in the video description.
1/2 a yard in cms what is the equivalence?
There are lots of conversion calculators online.
@@Mellysews If I do not have nylon I will just use T-shirts
Wow
How do I get the link
All the links are in the video description when you click "Show More"
Do you know of any sources for rip stop?
I got mine at Joann.
A fabric store......
Ripstopbytheroll.com fast shipping too.
Instead of folding, you should roll your clothes.
Just a tip next time you go traveling.
I've tried it both ways, but I can get more in a cube folding usually.
Most good packing cubes have mesh so it can breathe, so I'd skip the vinyl.
I prefer the ones with vinyl and waterproof nylon like the one I made so I can use them as wet bags.
