Honda CRZ Door Handle Replacement! 2011-2016

- Hey guys!
Finally decided on fixing the CRZ door handle. Thanks to UBANTE Garage for making a guide video. Hoping to add another perspective of the replacement process.
What you will need (What I used):
-LEFT (driver side door handle.)
ebay.to/330YiUD
- Phillips or JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) Screwdriver.
- Plastic clip removal tool.
- Flathead Screwdriver.
- 5mm Allen key
- 10mm socket + wrench or impact gun.
-PATIENCE!
Tips:
- The red clip is a pain in the ass, get a light in there.
- The rail is a guide for the window when it goes down. Make sure plastic
- Be careful with the trimming, clips are very delicate and will break!
- Make sure the window is rolled up after you manage to take the panel off.
- The screws will strip if you do not apply enough force on them. Spray some wd-40 and break them carefully.

Fixing it sounds so much better than climbing through my hatchback every single time I need to go somewhere
We tied a strap on the door secure it with electrical tape and pulled it from the back but we got the door handles for replacement. 😂

Thanks for posting this will be using it soon to replace the driver side. Luckily I have no one in my life so the passenger side will never need to be replaced.

For someone this might help:
I bought a crz that had the issue with broken door handle on the driver side door.
I looked at buying a new door lock replacement but it would cost me approximately NZD300 to just get the part.
I am an engineering student so I thought to myself why can't I come up with my one solution for this.
What i did was to get a linear actuator for car doors from my local electronics shop and hooked that up with a remote relay so I can open the door latch with the remote. Then I installed this Linear actuator inside the door so that it is actually pulled on the door latch from inside so that the door opens.
Now I have a tiny remote for the remote relay along with my actual car key that I press when I want to open the door.
This is kind of an safety feature too in a way haha

Never really show the real details on how to put it back together. Also what was broken.

Okay thanks alot for this guide! Together with the other two guides on UA-cam I could replace the handle. Some steps are missing in this guide but please people: use your common sense and it is doable! The hardest parts for me: getting rid of one of the Philips Screws, seperating the electrical wire from the keylockmechanism and putting the keylockmechanism back into place so that the metal thing would fit in. I have a red crz but I bought a black door handle. IT looks smashing on the cr-z. Anyway, thanks alot for this guide!!!

This video made the fix very easy. With the help of a neighbor and this video I was able to replace the handle on my 2011 in about an hour. Most of that time was putting it back together...that was a pain in the neck...but everything went well.

i did this repair without watching this video. used the OEM manual. who knew they could over-complicate a freaking door handle so badly. to make matters worse, the small tiny white plastic piece that sits in the handle assembly fell out while i was trying to put the door back together...so i had to take it all back apart and do it again.....

Just got mine replaced today. Passenger side broken. The driver side counting days so had them replaced as well. I couldn't get off the shelf the colour I want. Now have to repaint, what hassle. Whoever the engineer who designed this at honda should be fired 😤

With the camera I was using it would be impossible to see me reinstalling and reconnecting the window rail. That’s the only tedious part of reinstallation. I’d say if you’re able to take the handle off in the first place you will have an okay time putting it back together. Thanks for the input 🥴.

An FYI, this won’t ever work for a 2016,
Parts are specific only to 2016 and are way different inside the door, due to new locking mechanism, and keyless entry.

Are the 2016s still prone to breaking? The part number is different but it looks identical in the diagram.

Hi I just bought this car for my son and he was trying to replace it but didn’t finish , so he closed the door and locked the car now they it’s not unlocking , we are stuck trying to open it any idea ?

I need to replace my wife's. I pull the handle and it doesn't unlatch. Is that the handle or the latch?
Also, did you have to get the new one rekeyed?
You literally skipped the only part I needed...
Having trouble with screwing the key lock part back in. I have the new the handle on with the bracket and rod attached inside but can’t seem to get the key lock to line up with the hole and cannot screw in the attatched part!

What part should I order for *passenger's side* to do what is shown here?
How would I contact you? I am refabing the non metal components of the handle assembly. I am making them out of Kevlar stranded continuous carbon fiber, so that it never weakens with heat or breaks. Mine broke a while back and I have been looking for resources to get this done. My local university has a full 3D lab. But...I need an old door handle to scan. I also need some of those small screws and the pivot pin. For some reason they were not in the box that I kept all the parts in while I was figuring this out (DRAT!)

You can order directly from Honda or get it through a verified oem supplier on eBay 😬👍🏽. I got mine on eBay, legit Honda part too! Good luck!

Like an hour and a half! I got the handle from eBay, it was brand new and genuine oem. Here in the hot ass sun of San Antonio almost a year later it’s still going strong!

Hey! Thanks for watching. Only thing I can think of is somehow that mechanism isn’t getting power. Something isn’t seeded correctly or you have a short somewhere. Be careful not to pinch any wire on reassembly.

I got lucky and got it from EBAY. Apparently the supplier no longer has it in stock. You can find it there from another seller and even buy a used one. Best bet is to go through the dealer. I wish you the best of luck and thanks for watching!

You do not have to remove the door jam latch mechanism. It didnt make the job hard at all
locking mechanism like the red and white thing? i’m having a hard time getting that off do you need to i’m order to take the handle off or can i leave it and just take that bolt off
