I was in India a few years ago, and an Indian teenager at my hostel just started lecturing me about Master of the Senate. He had a meeting the next day at the US consulate to see if he could get a student visa. This dude *loved* America.
Apparently he goes to the meeting and they ask him questions for two hours, and everything went well. That’s until they ask him, “do you plan on coming home to India after your studies?” He says, “No way! I’m never leaving the US!” And they denied him on the spot, right there.
Thank you for unlocking that memory, Nick

Sorry I'm a dumbass but why would that be grounds for automatic denial ?

@@magicknight13 the visa would've only been for however long he was a student so him staying after that would be illegal

Caro, between the book on Robert Moses and the series on LBJ, pretty much wrote the entire history of the 20th century between about 1900 to 1970. Highly recommended. The LBJ series is one of those "life-works" in the vein of Edward Gibbon and especially Will and Ariel Durant, another husband/wife team who spent their whole lives writing a seemingly endless series of books. Sometimes only the exhaustive is truly interesting.

LBJ and Nixon were unironically the best presidents of the past 100 years

LBJ was not a good president and not because “derr democrats are the devil!”. Republicans infuriate me.
I’m a faggy gay left leaning libertarian.

      FDR?
Also, Nixon brought in drug prohibition to criminalise his political opponents, and an aide of his admitted as much, in the 90's. So maybe stop riding his nuts so hard. Few people have fucked over black people as badly as Nixon. Yes, Nixon was kind of special, in ways, but still, fuck that guy.
