This is the best purl tutorial ever. The other tutorials wouldn't give steps and do it really fast, and this was really helpful and easy to understand. Got it first try with this video instead of having to stary over over and over again.thank you
Repeating the same thing over and over in the video is genius so we don't have to keep on returning to the beginning. Being a beginner this really helps! Thanks so much!
Thank you for this video. I was so frustrated after viewing and attempting the pearl knit while viewing another's youtube video. This made it much easier, successful and fun.
I have watched so many videos trying to figure out this stitch as I'm super new to knitting and you ma'am explained it in a way I understood. thank you thank you thank you!!!
This is a great video and thank you for making me realize that I’ve been doing purling wrong for months! This definitely explains why my patterns have been looking weird
Hi, I'm new to knitting, and have only just learnt garter stitch (which left me quite perplexed) a few hours ago. Now I want to learn stocking stitch, and as someone who has dyslexia, I've been struggling to learn how to purl stitch for the past half hour (which left me quite frustrated), because written instructions make no sense to me. Who would've though that knitting requires so many propositions like front/back, clockwise/counter-clockwise, left/right, etc. But this video has surely helped me greatly in my endeavour to learning the stocking stitch, purely by watching how it's done in motion. Thank you. (For context, I'm a 19 yr old "alt" girl, who may not be perceived as the "type" of young lady who'd be interested in knitting, which is ludicrous of course, but now I understand why my nanna hates knitting 😂)
I just started to knit and have watched a lot of tutorials on how to purl and they did not make sense. I saw yours and you made it seem so easy. I was about to give up on my project. Thank you!!!
I cannot thank you enough! I have watched other videos about his and they did not help at all! This video of yours did! I can now successfully due the purl stitch, thank you!
Thanks my aunt knows how to knit and she was showing me and I was showing her how to crochet I could do the knot stich but not the purl stitch. And know I learned how to purl and guess what I think this is the UA-camr That I learned how to do the knot stich. Anyway thankyou sooo much
Thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!! I have adhd and its hard for me to focus sometimes but it really helped how slow this was and how you explained thing carefully. I looked at several other videos and almost had it but i lost track super quick.
Literally keep seeing tutorials where people are showing how to do the purl stitch incorrectly so thank you for showing the PROPER WAY! Everyone else is adding an extra wrap around for some reason like for what lol
Thank you so much for this video. Didnt take me long to get it. You made it so so easy! I had been trying to 4 hours last night. Looked at your video and it took me 5 mins!!!!
Such an amazing video honestly one of the only ones I've been able to follow. I'm currently trying to teach myself how to knit and this has been a life saver. Thank you so much ♥️
Thank you so much! I've finished 3 scarves now and just the knit stitch was getting a little repetitive, I'm excited to try this tomorrow if I get the chance!
Great video! As a new knitter, these slow tutorials are soo useful. Newbie question, though: Are there any simple stich/purl combinations I should avoid? Which ones should I avoid? My grandma used to say "knit one purl two" like a mantra but what result would that have on knitting? Sorry for the probably dumb question, but thanks in advance for any help I can get here.
Old comment but in case anyone else iss wondering it would create like flat dips, bu like a row of trenches, so like if making like a textured scarf. I'd say to start with just knit first.
Hi, I hope you are doing well, I am a beginner in knitting and I always get stuck on step 3, for some reason it comes out as 2 stitches, could you give me any tips? Thank you in advance your videos are very helpful. Love from Mexico City 🇲🇽💕
Thank you, thank you, thank you, beautiful person. God bless you. you are so kind and patient and beautiful let no one tell you otherwise thank you. I found a wonderful sensi in you honey. Thank you. I was so lost til I found you. Thank you.
It's easy once u understand the process, a video showing front angle might help. For a purl, U bring working yard forward, then go into the stitch with working yarn backwards on side closest to u ,, wrap a loop around the right needle counterclockwise, then pull that loop back through that stitch you went thru originally. Then the previous stitch is safe to drop.. think of it like creating a new link in a chain, to create that new link u need to thread it thru the previous link held on your needle. Just be careful not to drop the stitch as it happens often when starting out
Is there a such stitch that is made doing everything like a purl but looped clockwise? That is how I've been purling. I redid a bit of a current project due to this but it looks identical to wrong purl work, so can someone explain the difference or is there a video explaining why?
I'm having trouble keeping the pattern on the same side. Whenever I switch needles the side switches and I'm losing my mind trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Help please 🥺
Question! I've always purled bringing the working yarn around the left/clockwise side of the needle, not the right. I've known I do it backwards, and havent noticed a difference between the way in this video and how i do it when i finish a work/row. Is this a serious problem that I should fix? It's such habit that doing it the "right" way feels weird!
I think as long as you're consistent with it, it won't make a difference visually (like if you switch from clockwise to counter-clockwise in the middle of a project, it might show) Now, I used to do it the "wrong" way as well, and the "right" way still feels odd to this day, however I remember having to fight a bit with my needle to get it in after a purl row. Knitting after a purl goes on much easier now. Maybe someday it won't feel weird... maybe. :P
No matter how much I do this and how many tutorials I follow, the purl stitch doesn't seem to work. It just comes through and creates a giant loop that feeds through forever from the working yarn.
I watched three that didn’t make sense but gosh finally someone that knows how to teach
Well I'll be darned, I've been purling wrong for 52 years!!!!! Thank you.
What!!
Can't believe
But u can do 😄😀✋👍
Oh Cherie🤦🏾♀️ now you have to redo ALL your projects for the last 52 years.🤓
no, you just created a whole brand new stitch ;))
I've apparently been doing it wrong for the whole six months I've been knitting 😀 your comment makes me feel less alone ♥️
Me, too! I thought I was knitting wrong, but it turns out it was my purl stitch that I did incorrectly!
This is the best purl tutorial ever. The other tutorials wouldn't give steps and do it really fast, and this was really helpful and easy to understand. Got it first try with this video instead of having to stary over over and over again.thank you
Wonderful to hear, Kaily! 💖
Repeating the same thing over and over in the video is genius so we don't have to keep on returning to the beginning. Being a beginner this really helps! Thanks so much!
Just want to say watched about 10 tutorials and still couldn't get it right and finally did today. Thank you
Wow, so great to hear, Olivia! Congrats! 💖
Thank you so helpful!! Self teaching myself and after watching other UA-cam tutorials your was the only I could comprehend to get it correct.
Hooray, enjoy!
Thank you for this video. I was so frustrated after viewing and attempting the pearl knit while viewing another's youtube video. This made it much easier, successful and fun.

I love your other videos! SO HELPFUL! But with this one, I am stuck on step 3. :(

What wool and needles are you using im new but have realy crapy needles that hurt my hands and very thin wool
It's best that you use wooden or bamboo needles, and use super bulky yarn (6), Less stitches and faster pace
I'm having trouble keeping the pattern on the same side. Whenever I switch needles the side switches and I'm losing my mind trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Help please 🥺
Should beginners use bulky yarn or thin yarn ?
I suggest bulky!
Thank you
