- Thanks for watching! Pete Rose not being in the Hall Of Fame, is one of the most controversial moments in MLB History. With Shohei Ohtani being investigated, if he was found guilty of betting, should we see Pete Rose in the hall of fame?

Title: How The Face Of Baseball's Reputation Died
By: Purely Baseball
Throwing games for money vs. betting on games is completely different
Pete Rose bet on baseball, so it's the end of the story. Rose can't make any argument against Ohtani until a concrete evidence is out to show Ohtani in fact did bet on baseball. Rose should make his HOF case against roid users getting in instead as that argument has more weight at this point.
Who cares?
Betting doesn't change performance.
That's the same argument as saying the hits don't matter cause they were black.
It all matters.
Bonds should be in.
Pete should be in.
Shoeless Joe should be too.
@@Hail13huh, betting will definitely change performance in game
Did the guys who threw the 1919 World Series bet on baseball, or did they throw games?
We, as kids, grew up seeing Pete as A Roll Model. He was on the Breakfast Of Champions cereal boxes, He was Charlie Hustle,, yeah, he was. Like Phelps & Lance, who later had their images portrayed in children's shows, Pete should.start apologizing to those he inspired. At least Ty started a children's hospital after he retired.
Agreed, over 4,000 is insane also im proud of how far you came since i discovered ur channel a year ago keep up the great work!
Player managers are just crazy to me! Having the responsibility of being both is a tough one! Not sure if you’ve made a video covering player managers, but that would be nice to see!
2 fun facts: 1--MLB doesn't run the Hall of Fame, the Baseball Writers Association of America does (the folks who vote for MVP & the Cy Young), and they make their own rules about who's eligible or not
2--the HOF didn't have a rule excluding players who were banned by MLB until 1992
1) BWAA does does "run" the Hall of Fame. They themselves were appointed to their very narrow role BY the Hall of Fame's Board of Trustees.
2) But they do NOW, having made what had been their longtime informal practice official.
The spirit of the rule is to prevent players from losing intentionally. Betting on yourself and/or team to win seems murky at worst, but doesn’t seem to create a conflict of interest. Pete Rose wasn’t the best human being but this shouldn’t keep him out of the HOFz
He knew the rule and consistently broke it and then lied for years about betting on baseball. I still feel he should just be allowed in the HOF because he and other players that are excluded due to cheating, gambling and lousy opinions just receive more attention then they would if the just were allowed in.
@@henrywallacesghost5883 But would you agree that betting on your own team to win wouldn’t constitute a conflict of interest?
@@williamliddell7981How do you know Rose only bet on his team to win? Remember, back in 1989 he accepted the lifetime ban to keep the full story under the rug. And given he also lied about sleeping with a minor I do not trust his word one bit.
@@nathanreynolds6459 I don’t have evidence that he didn’t but you also don’t have evidence he did. We have racists, adulterers and mob connected guys in the HOF, so unless you can prove he threw games as a player or manager, there is no conflict of interest. He has the most hits in history and was an All Star at 5 positions. Put him in and get off your high horse.
@@williamliddell7981 that’s not true. If you’re a player-manager and you bet on your team to win, you may rest or play guys in other games based on the games you bet yourself to win on. You may not play someone in order to rest them up for your bet.
Pete is the greatest ever!!! Most hits, an ALL STAR AT 5 Different Positions!! Played in most winning games..1,972!!
Betting to win is fine!!!! Kentucky Derby horse owners bet on their own horse!! They’d better!!! Johnny Bench has Pete blackballed out of the hof. He’s jealous he’s not the hometown homegrown player Pete is!!! Hof is a brotherhood, if one member puts in a blackball, then the others will not get in the way.
Leave Ohtani out of this. Go Dodgers baby!!
You already know I’m liking this and leaving a comment. Along with getting that watch time up 😂
Top notch as always man! 👍🏼
Betting is seriously an addiction. I have been there, and I'm in recovery for it. It seems like Pete has an addiction that he sometimes acknowledges but also denies it. It sounds like he needs to take accountability for his actions and honestly seek help. Anyway, was the underage s*x true? It's the first time I've heard about it
He has confirmed he was sexually involved with her in the 70s.. But “believed she was at least 16”.
UNDEFEATED SEASON SURVIVES 😤
Ohtani will never get banned even if guilty. Watch and see.
He’ll make it to the hall but after he dies. I don’t see it any other way unless manfred unbans him
Unfortunately it does seem that way.
Let’s go redlegs! Opening day baby!
RIP
I don’t think ohtani bet but if he did I feel the league won’t do much but a slap on the wrist just because he’s ohtani the best money maker in baseball
Ohtani is probably going through language & cultural differences. Ohtani might not get into the Baseball Hall of Fame whenever he retires due to the current situation.
Not controversial at all, really. Pretty cut and dry actually. Pretty black and white.
And Shohei Ohtani's actions affect just one person in all the world: SHOHEI OHTANI.
EEZZZZZZZ TIGERS UNDEFEATED 162-0 SEASKN STARTED
Are we going to get Women players in the MLB? I don’t wanna sound like a woke person
what does woke mean?
@@shiftymenno It's like a little more extreme progressive, at least that's how I've come to interpret it, as it a lot of times seems to be used as a slur for progressive people.
how is that going to happen? They can't hit nor pitch...as seen by that one minor leaguer. You must be jessing.
He isn't arguably one of the best hitters ever. His OPS+ is behind Andy Van Slyke.
