I have a complete, but decrepit Cavalier C51. While not the same, the core elements of the restoration are the same as the Vendo 39. This series has been invaluable to show me what all will be involved in the project. I can't thank you enough!
(Tom here.) THANK YOU MARC!!!..... is what we ALL are saying at this point, sir!!! You have been a superb guide through this break-down and re-build of a classic VENDO 39 machine!!!! I, myself, cannot wait for your next tutorial video of the future, original Coca Cola machine that you will be walking us through, sir. Marc, you should be working for COCA COLA, yourself.....teaching those people the art of breaking down and rebuilding their machines. You are a Wizard at this, sir!!!! Again, Thank You so much for this great 14 part video of a Coke machine breakdown, repair, and rebuild, sir. We'll ALL be waiting for your next video series to come out on UA-cam!!!! Take care, sir. See ya!!!!!!
Hell yea a guy does a series just before I happen across one. My google search lead me to video #2 and I had to come see the finally. Time to head to video one and mess with mine! Thanks for sharing.
It has been a long 9 months and every video was absolutely worth the wait. I enjoyed the series very much. Don't keep us waiting to long for the Vendo 81 series to start. I'm really excited about that one.
@@sodatimerestorations my god this is a very elegant electric/mechanical coin operated coca cola bottle dispenser and built in 1951? too bad a bottle of coca cola does NOT cost 10 cents today 🙁
Marc, truly great series! This is a goldmine of knowledge for anyone who wants to work on one of these machines. Wonderful tips and tricks all along the way! Great camera-work and explanations! I'm currently restoring my V-39 and frequently reference your episode that corresponds to what I am currently working on. I just finished my initial blocking and am prepping to shoot hi-build primer. So, I just wrapped up your Part 6 and am proceeding to your Part 7. Based on your input, I have decided to go with your vinyl decal masking approach of painting the embossed letters instead of hand-painting. That probably saved me a lot of agony! 🙂I have already watched the entire series, so that I could plan ahead. Again, thank you SO MUCH for this series!! For your records, my V-39 has serial number FA 3038 and is located in Texas.
Thank you so much for putting all of this on UA-cam, so helpful and informative. I just bought my first vendo 39 and it is a 1949 model. It’s in great shape and appears to be all original, but it only says “ have a coke “ on the sides 🤔 1949 vendo F39B5 FA11285 Atlanta, Georgia
@@sodatimerestorationsof course thank you! No sir it’s still all red. I bought it from an older gentleman that got it from his mother that worked at the old pharmacy where it was originally in use. It was converted to a 10 cent machine somewhere in there but still has the original 5 cent decal on the coin door.
My father had a Vendo 39 at his 99 seat theater in Hollywood, California which was built in the 1950's. It was white on top. The vend was 15 cents and instructions said deposit one nickel and one dime only. It gave no change. It had a metal rack on the left side to hold the empty bottles. My brother inherited it from him, and he still has it in his garage.
In about '60 to '63 when the family would go camping have to stop for gas I'd ask the attendant if he would give me the bottle caps from the 'pop machine' I had bags and bags of them, all separated by brand. Haven't thought about that in a long time - thanks - 'great video
Thanks very much for this series. It has been extremely informative. And gives me the confidence to maybe start restoration on my machine. F304 49186 in Kansas City
I think I have a 1951 Vendo 39 Coke Machine, but that crank handle is stuck. I can't rotate it counter clockwise to open the door. Is there some trick to make it open? If I put a dime in the crank handle will crank down like you are getting a coke, but when I try to rotate it counter clockwise to open it it hit something, doesn't hardly move that way. but it will crank down with a dime. Do have any idea or advice? Thank you.
Good evening! They can get that way! So you’re not able to open coin door ? If it gets stuck , take a rag and cover crank handle and use a hammer and tap it counter clockwise until it gets unstuck! I would then take crank off and soak overnight in a lubricant!
That did it! I got it to turn, I'm in. This will be fun to get it cleaned up and hopefully get it in the living room so dad can use it every day. Thanks for the help. @@sodatimerestorations
Hey, but I have an opportunity to buy a vendo 39 for $500. Needs painting and a new power cord. It has all the original parts and body is in overall good shape. This is my first machine so i was wondering, does that sound like a good price?
All of that patina, history, and character... gone. What a shame. Why not manufacture repro's rather than turning an old machine in to something it never was?
Beautiful restoration sir!

Is there anyone in Houston you can recommend who does these types of restorations?

Part 15, not Part 14, sir.
Sorry about that.
(15 part), not (14 part) is what l really meant to write. Sorry about that, also.
15 is named “vendo 39 series Finale”
😊
Thanks again for watching the series!
And also the kind words!😊

Cool history your Fathers machine, and to still have it! Would be cool to see any pictures of that machine in the theater!

The Vendo 39 held 6 oz. bottles. Will it hold the 8 oz bottles; do you have to modify for that?
Yes the 8oz does work in the original drum from the vendo 39

I have an opportunity to buy one but I won’t know if it is working…. $400 … how would I know if it’s worth it?
If it has the bottle drum and a coin mechanism that’s a steal!
The bottle drum is worth more than 400!
Just make sure it’s not rusted out

@@Kerrigan1000 Good deal ! Glad you got it!
Will the Vendo 39 fit the small 187ml champagne bottles?
Let me get a good OD measurement for you this evening!
And will also check for who I know in that area for restoration
2 3/8 looks like the bottle measurements
Hole size 2 1/2
7 3/8 tall

Yes that’s a great price ! If compressor is working and getting cold , has the drum, and it takes money !
