(Tom here.) Thank You for keeping the original Jan. 1951 date stamp on this unit for posterity and historical purposes, sir!!!! You do fantastic work on these antique soda machines!!!! Thank You so much for saving and restoring these great pieces of Americana that have sadly been neglected over time. You are a miracle worker, sir. THANK YOU!!!!
(Tom again.) Marc, don't sell yourself short, sir!!!! You are a fantastic antique restorer. You should have more than 70+ subscribers, in my opinion. You should have more than 700+ subscribers, (IMO). You really know your craft, inside and out. Thank You for restoring a slice of old time America back to its original lustre, sir!!!! Take care and may GOD bless you and yours.
I use the same technique on my machines. I learned it from Rod Heuerman of Fun-Tronics. I have a Vendo 39 from the first year (1949). It has a Nash-Kevinator compressor and it has two metal posts on the back to keep you from pushing it too close to the wall.
Hi Marc. I have subscribed and enjoy your videos. I have a question working on a Vebo 44 that is both red and white and was wondering if the technique you show will work with red lettering under white any issues in the red lettering with white overtop. I am concerned that, after spraying the white, the red may show through Reverse of the Vendo 39. Have you ever done it that way with red lettering
Good afternoon Sandy! Yes I have done both ways! You will spray your red on the letters then apply vinyl lettering, then cover the top with white! Then you you will peel the vinyl off and then clear coat ! Make sure you are using a base coat type paint that will need a clear coat over it!😊 Hope this Helps! Have a blessed Day!😊
Sooo glad I found your channel.. awesome content!! Marc if I want to buy your touch up paint you mentioned WA9260.. can I buy that at a auto parts? Like Napa?
Over 70 years old. They made them good in the USA. I would just love one of those in the Kitchen. Great job. How many thousand dollars for a restored machine ?
@@sodatimerestorations they will hold their money like a classic car. Restored early coke machines in the U.K. can be £11,000. 🥲. One of those beside my Seeburg 100hf jukebox would be mint. 👍
White lettering went on to sealer first step Then let dry apply vinyl on lettering second step Then apply basecoat red over vinyl third step Next day pull vinyl off to reveal white lettering only fourth step Last step apply clear ! Hope that gives a road map of process 😊
Harold we are using Fun-tronics for the Vinyl ! Not sure on Victor 3 Door? www.fun-tronicsllc.com/ Give Janet a call let her know I sent you there! Let me know if that does not help! Thanks
Really enjoying your video series, as I am currrently blocking my V-39. After you shot the white base on the embossed areas, how long did you wait before you applied the vinyl and shot the red base? How long did you wait to shoot the clear after you painted the door red and removed the vinyl? Looking forward to the next episode! 😊
Let the white base coat set over night! Apply vinyl, after install of vinyl red base coat is ready to go on! Important step ! Remove vinyl the next day ! In this video series I did not get back on it for 2 days and the vinyl come off a little rough! I started this style of lettering process on my last 4 machines and it’s always come right off ! But I always did it the next day! So after removing vinyl clean up issues with a fine brush ! Once you have your letters looking the best , your ready to apply clear coat! Production is working on that video right now ! May be a couple of weeks before it’s out I hope this helps ! Thanks Marc
Marc, in one of your episodes, I seem to remember you saying before you used the vinyl decals, you used the "sand-through" technique. Is that where you would paint the entire door red, cover the embossed lettering with contact paper, sand the contact paper just enough to expose the lettering, then paint the exposed lettering white? If so, why did you abandon that technique? Thanks.
fb.watch/gVmKpb3yQr/?mibextid=qC1gEa Not a great video but yes ! 5 to 6 coats of white base coat! Let it dry if not let it set overnight! Then 3 to 4 coats of red over that! Let it dry overnight then start your flat block sand! Did this for many years and just this past year switch to vinyl! Hope this helps! Thanks Marc

Really liked video but I'm confused vinyl went on the primer but when you pealed off lettering was white
White lettering went on to sealer first step
Then let dry apply vinyl on lettering second step
Then apply basecoat red over vinyl third step
Next day pull vinyl off to reveal white lettering only fourth step
Last step apply clear !
Hope that gives a road map of process

Where do you get the vinyl and correct paint
You can get the vinyl from Funtronics for the vendo 39
Paint code I use for the 39

White # 1803446 Martin Senour

Is the vinyl the type you put down after the base coat and then peel off to reveal the actual paint…..sorry but I’m new at this
Spray letters first with basecoat
Allow basecoat to dry then apply vinyl
Spray basecoat color over vinyl
Next day peel vinyl off
Then apply clear coat
Thank you Thank you Thank you 🙏
