    I know a lot of Bioshock nerds will hate me for this, but unlike the first game, I don't feel like an emotionless, killing machine that's just walking to next check point to see everything unfold. As a Big Daddy, I felt a legitimate bond with the character I was playing as.

      I spared every little sister in BioShock 2. When I play Delta the big daddy I get so attached to protecting the little sisters and I bond with the character that I'm playing. I truly love the second bioshock. However my first bioshock game I ever played was BioShock infinite I played that game and after completing it I wanted to play the first 2 and I then got the collection.

    It's not that Delta survived being shot in the head, he did die, but if you collect the audio diaries you'll find one from Elenor saying that the little sisters had found a genetic sample of Delta, allowing her to link him to the vita chambers and bringing him back. Delta was a Big Daddy and since Big Daddies are brainwashed they are easially replaced and aren't linked to vita chambers. Which is why he suddenly woke up 10 years after the opening cutscene.

      The Vita Chambers only worked for Andrew Ryan and his illegitimate son Jack. So Eleanor had the little sisters get her father's gene sample and had it imprinted in the vita chambers so Delta could also come back from the dead.

    What's wrong with "more BioShock", that's what made the original game amazing in my opinion! I think BioShock 2 was great, it was very similar to the first game with the same kind of gameplay, amazing story and atmosphere, but with new added features that are actually pretty cool! New maps, enemies / characters, weapons, plasmids and gameplay mechanics like dual wielding weapons / plasmids and gathering with the Little Sisters etc. I think it was a great sequel!

      I don't get the hate for BioShock 2, it was a worthy sequel IMHO. I love every Shock game equally.
      I especially liked Sofia Lamb's character. She was a nice addition to the philosophical conflict in the game, the polar opposite of Ryan. She was more of a transhumanist collectivist rather than a "communist" most people including Ryan himself claim her to be. Collectivism vs individualism was more apparent in the sequel than the first game. In the first game it was more of an altruism vs egoism and determinism vs indeterminism trope.
      I also liked the improvements on the gameplay aspect. Plasmids were more useful, enemies were more varied and challenging, hacking was more enjoyable, weapons were overall better(Chemical Thrower's Electric Gel was literally cheating in the first game), addition of Adam Gathering was awesome, research system was much better. Big Sister chasing you once you deal with every Little Sister was also a nice touch.

    I don't get why people want a sequel to be totally different. Surely if you like the original then major changes will change what you liked about the original? Surely just improving and refining what already exists is better than changing what you love and deliberately limiting the amount of guns you can carry or most of the atmosphere... I'm looking at you BIOSHOCK INFINITE !

    • @eido4220
      @eido4220 8 років тому +7

      I think the hate for this game is stemmed from the fact how amazing and original the first Bioshock is. Since Bioshock 2 has pretty much the same look and feel, it wasn't fresh enough to feel like a "new" Bioshock game, at least in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, it is a good game that improved on the first in several areas (ahem, hacking, melee, emotional depth). But the truth is I found Rapture to be a lot more motonous the second time around and not many of the levels were as memorable to me like Fort Frolic or Arcadia from Bioshock 1. I like Infinite because, as she says, it was a good change of pace and added another unique aesthetic to the universe, which I personally loved. The two weapon minimum did piss me off, though. Lol

    • @grantmoore8228
      @grantmoore8228 7 років тому

      Dominic Manester well technically you do get to keep a wheel of wepons in infinite, it's just that instead of guns it's vigors. I actually really like this change as it allows more combo opportunity that wasn't in the first games. plus only having two guns means that combat becomes more challenging and fun because it means you have to constantly be coming up with strategies to use.

    I really liked this game and thought it brought enough new features to the series, like using weapons and plasmids at the same and defending little sisters. Hacking was such an improvement. Loved the idea of playing as a big daddy, and it was incredible to see the world through a little sister's eyes. Big sisters were much harder bosses than big daddies, and the story was just as good as the first Bioshock's. I was not let down by this game at all

    This was the first game that ever made me cry and not just during the ending but at several parts through-out the game. The first one was when we find out how the Little Sisters see the world around them. The next moment that got me was when I realized that all my actions influenced Eleanor to the point that she either kills the Little Sisters for power or saves them. Of course the ending also got me.
    This is still one of my absolute favorite games and my favorite among the three Bioshock games (I didn't really like Infinite though).

Not getting into detail but they should if stuck with the whole concept of a new theme. Even with the dlc just didn't feel like it connected. It should of been the city in the sky and the city underwater two different worlds.

      @chickencurry420 7 років тому +8

      I didn't like Infinite because it didn't feel like Bioshock at all. It felt more like a generic shooter trying to be Bioshock. You can only hold 2 weapons at a time and pick up ammo off the ground (hence the geneic FPS feel) You're in the sky now, literally as far away from the water as you could possibly be while still being on the same planet. The plasmids are some sort of potion or whatever now instead of the morbid, almost creepy injections. The enemies didn't seem insane like Splicers who have been driven mad by greed and vanity, just crazy assholes with steampunk civil war-style weaponry. No mention of Big Daddies, Little Sisters, Adam, Eve, Rapture, or really anything from Bioshock. It felt too separated and self-contained from the rest of the series, story-wise and gameplay-wise. I would say it's like the Halo Wars of Bioshock but at least Halo Wars has Halo feel and enviornment and doesn't look completely arbitrary and out of place compared to rest of the Halo universe.

      only problem was bs2 released too early which to me hurt infinite. if it came around infinites time toward the end of 7th gen then that next sequel could of really shined on ps4 xb1. not needing a lot of changes maybe a new game plus but was the only downside

    Few tips for Bioshock 2. This is my favorite of the series and I have completed this game MULTIPLE times lol.
    -At Ryan Amusements, there will be two Power of the People stations. Opt for the Drill damage upgrade and Rivet Gun Damage Upgrade.
    -Unsure if this was intentional or unintentional, but before hacking anything, locate the nearest alarm shutdown switch and then find the closest hackable device. Stop the arrow at red and this will activate the alarm, head to the shutdown switch and make sure you have sight on two bot turrets then hit the switch. Not only will this shut down the alarm, but this will give you two bots that you can hack to help you.
    -Research EVERYTHING! Use the Research Camera whenever you can as the upgrade rewards and tonics will go a LONG way for you in making you stronger
    -In Pauper's drop, make sure that you get Winter Blast and upgrade Telekinesis to Level 2. I will explain why in the next tip
    -In Siren Alley, when you have enough ADAM, upgrade Winter Blast to Level 2. Charging it up turns enemies into a block of ice which you can use Telekinesis Level 2 to pull and throw them into the wall or pull and shoot them with explosive shotgun shells.
    -In addition with the above tip, make sure you have Freezing Drill equipped in you Gene Tonic slots. This is really useful for taking out Big Daddies as you can charge Winter Blast Level 2 and unleash it on a big daddy. Then melee with your drill while casting a Charged Winter Blast 2 occasionally. Melee with the drill, not stab/bore with your drill as the latter is a waste of drill fuel.
    -When facing a Big Sister, yes it's good to be stocked up on ammo, but the most important part is location, location, location. Find a location that has hacked turrets or cameras. Set up traps/mini turrets as well. If you see unused explosive barrels pull them using Telekinesis and attach trap rivets on them before throwing them at the big sister for extra damage.

    • @robertmurdock1848
      @robertmurdock1848 4 роки тому

      The drill does have other upgrades with tonics and research, I favor the machine gun upgrade since its ammo is the most common.
      Now, when I play a game where I'm going to use Drill Specialst , then I'll just upgrade the drill and rivet gun unti I get the tonic.
      Another tip : in Dionysus Park wait until you acquire the Grenade Launcher , then go back and use both upgrade stations for it.
      I also like Cyclone Trap 2 augmented with Insect Swarm 2/3.

    I played the game for the first time just a few months ago while I was binge-playing all 3 Bioshocks and personally I enjoyed this game a lot more than Bioshock 1. I mean, don't get me wrong, Bioshock 1 was alright, but I absolutely hate FPS games so I'm really judging these games by their plot, and I thought the plot of Bioshock 2 was just a lot more engaging than in the first game. The first game you kind of just... move on through the game because you're told to (which I get is kind of the point but it doesn't really matter until you reach the plot twist so for most of the experience it's just kinda boring) whereas in Bioshock 2 I was invested from the start, I wanted to rescue Eleanor so bad and kick Sophia Lamb's ass x) Plus I felt like the environements were more interesting and beautiful than in the first game, and the linear structure made it easier to follow the story as well imo.

    Great video and thanks for the tips!
    I'm a newbie and haven't played Bioshock, but am loving Bioshock 2. Have just started the game recently, so learning how to stretch out ammo, first aid kits, etc so I'm don't run out of them by the end of a level when I have to fight the Big Sister - holy shit she's hard! and even harder when you have no Eve or first aid kits left and you're out of ammo :( - but I had this issue last night, but still beat her down (even though I had to die a million times to do so!!)
    It's just a bugger you can only carry 5 Eve and 5 first aid kits at a time, but I guess upgrading will help in later levels.
    Still feel like a bitch when I have to harvest my Little Sister as I'm desperate for Adam and don't want to be slaughtered by those bloody Splicers.

    Playing Bioshock 2 for the first time is reminding me a lot of Batman Arkham Origins. They're both not as tight feeling gameplay wise, but still good in their own right.

    I always enjoyed this game, far more than most it seems.
    I'm an ardent defender for this title, but I will admit that it has its shortcomings.
    I just wish that we could get a followup to it, as its multiple endings are all open ended enough for a direct sequel.

    i think the best way to play the bioshock games is by starting from the second one then going to the first. It allows you to experience what its like to be a big bad ass daddy for the entire time but makes you wonder what happened in the past and why is the world so fucked up so when you do play the first one it gives you a feeling of a weaker person trying to survive this horrible world and to change it for better or worse while infinite is an entirely different game other than the dlc which moves it to even before the first bioshock which is really cool.

    Wow. This was actually a good review.
    I loved bioshock 2. Because 1, i got to play as a big daddy. 2, i got the drill. The iconic drill, and 3. More of rapture. I loved this game. By far my favorite.

    in this game i always use the drill against normal enemies, and do the rush, back up tactic. (replaced by the charge and back up once you get the charge ability) and i just pump bullets into the big sisters. 10/10, best strat for easy mode ever.

    Ik I'm super late but just a tip you can cheese the crap out of big daddys and sisters by using the freeze plasmid and getting the freeze drill perk freeze them and use the drill it works best with fuel but melee works to but slower

    i just finished Bioshock 2. The gameplay was similar to the first one, but i still liked it, since the story was great. Plus they implemented some slighly better features (hacking, weapon and plasmid at the same time...)

    I waited forever to play these games. I ended up finding 1 and 2 used at gamestop for 5 bucks a piece. In the first game, I saved all the little sisters and went with the hero route. For the second game... father forgive me for my wicked sins. Long story short, it made the experience feel different enough and I honestly love both of them!

    I never really had a problem with the big sisters probably had something to do with the 20 traps and two turrets, and one security camera between me and her, I liked that you also defend against hoards, and you got to carry adorable little sisters with you and they're complete lack of understanding of whats actually going on. one of my favorite moments was standing in some electrified water with the electric eel plasmid on granting me immunity from getting shocked, a bunch of splicers charge in at me only to get electrified.The end of the game takes place in a prison were you became a big daddy, which is next door to where they keep the little sisters who are orphans, so over all 10/10 would sing its a hard knock life again.

    I feel Bioshock II is basically a very large dlc, as its just mostly serving on an existing gain without the originality too it, while Bioshock Infinite is a real sequel. As it completely changes the story.
    It had the big twists you expected, it gave you some different way you would look at the main character after a certain revelation came out.
    For Jack, he was a glorified programmed assassin, for Booker, he was Comstolk and Elizabeth was his daughter.
    While Delta was... Johnny Topside, who we know nothing about.
    A bigger and better twist about a big daddy was the Minera's den dlc, as you learned that you were the man who was giving advice, it was just a machine impersonating you too help you. That is a twist.
    I like Bioshock 2, but the surprises just fall flat in comparison.

    2:20 - Luring them to security cameras isn't as useful here, but unlike Big Daddies that rarely cross paths with one another, you can sic a Big Daddy on a Big Sister by using the Enrage plasmid that you get early in the game and let them fight each-other instead of *you.* So just find a vent near a Big Daddy before saving/harvesting & you'll have a MUCH easier time of it.
    3:36 - Your actions regarding the NPCs don't affect the ending at all (to my knowledge). Edit: Nope, it does. While saving some and killing at least one of the little sisters creates my favorite ending of ALL of the games if you refuse the final option. It's best to save 4 Little Sisters so that you can get the tonic that grants bonus Adam from Little Sister gathering, then harvest the rest for maximum power. (Or 8 for the tonic that increases gathering speed if you're impatient)

    • @robertmurdock1848
      @robertmurdock1848 3 роки тому

      Your actions with the 3 NPCs effect whether Eleanor saves her mother or lets her drown , don't they?
      You only get 80 more ADAM when save the first four sisters , then harvest the rest vs when you harvest them all. Not much help at the end of the game where you finally surpass the advantage you would have had harvesting on the first sister.

    A tip I learned playing this game. Get the Invisibility Upgrade. GET IT.
    The upgrade I'm talking about makes you invisable after standing still for a few seconds, which is broken as shit because if you do, slicers don't show up when your little sister is harvesting. Like. At all. They don't show up. It's weird. But makes thing so much easier.

    Also a handy tidbit for console gamers. In Bioshock 2, in the options menu there's an option to unlock the framerate and get dat smoooooth 60 fps. (awwww yeah.) you get a little graphical drop, but the game still looks pretty good and having that nice. naaaaawwiiceeee 60 fps is yummy. TURN OFF THE FRAMELOCK AND GET DAT 60FPS AND TASTE WHAT THE PC GAMERS ARE GETTING. >:U

    i find hacking much more intuitive in 2.
    *spoilers ahead*
    When you fight Fontaine at the end of the game, when you disable a security bot, you can just do the plumbing minigame and he dont give a crap. in Boishock 2, however, hacking is in real time, making it more realistic.

    Delta did die, Elanor puts his DNA in a Vita Chamber to revive him, it took her ten years via controlling other Little Sisters, she isn't your biological daughter she is your Little Sister as Delta is a prototype Big Daddy, designed to protect and be bound to one Little Sister as opposed to the modern ones which could just bond with any random one. Also, its a great sequel, it had all the good things about the first game, with improvements and new enemies and game mechanics.

    This one was probably my favourite, in close contest with the first one. Definitely didn't have a problem it being so similar to the first one, in fact that was the main reason I didn't like Infinite all that much. The first two have amazing stories and charachters, and fun gameplay, whereas Infinite has annoying gameplay, an okay story, and Elizabeth basically making the thing worth playing.
