- The Mighty Mule MM 371W Smart Gate Opener is a dramatic improvement over the previous MM360. The electronics and circuit board are in a separate waterproof box away from the actual gate opener which is a dramatic improvement. This video talks about the complete installation and programming of the mighty Mule MM371W.

Thanks for this video! I installed mine correctly - powered up, but would not open or close. I rewatched your video and noticed that my dipswitch settings were different than yours. I switched mine to match, and everything worked. Would be cool to have a follow up video on the dipswitch settings. Thanks again - solved my problem and made my day!
Hey brother, I am so happy to hear that that was helpful. Great job. Yes maybe I should do a quick video on those settings. Try to do that when the weather warms up a bit. I’m also having my left knee total joint placement in a week, so I’ll be out of commission for a little while. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Your video is the best video set up i have seen. Not a lot of talking, straight to the point.Well done!!!!!
Thank you so much for your nice comment. I try to do all my videos in a very objective manner so you can get the job done efficiently. I hope it was helpful. If so, consider subscribing. Thanks, Joe.
Thanks for your response. I really appreciate your nice comment. Have a great day. Take care, Joe.
Thank you! The company's videos are of little use.
Thank you for your very nice comment. I hope you found that useful. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
So is one way better than the other as far as pulling or pushing the gate?
Hey thanks for the video definitely alot more informative than any other I've seen.
Hey Justin, thanks for your nice comment. I’m glad it was helpful. I really like the new mighty mule better than the old for sure. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.
You made this simple to understand, thanks
Thank you very much for your kind comment. I’m glad you found it useful. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Thanks Dr. Joe. On my way to go install one now.
I’m very happy with it. It’s dramatically better than the previous generation because the electronics are separate in a waterproof enclosure. Consider a solar battery charger to keep your battery up to speed. Consider subscribed. Thanks, Joe.
Heck yeah! Thank you for making this video man!
Thank you buddy. Appreciate the nice comment. I hope this was helpful. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.

Hey Joe great video!
Another question for you: Our gate stops after tapping the hinge/ lock but closes about an inch shy of where it should to engage the locking mechanism. Do we need to reset the open and closed positions manually to fix this?
That’s a very good question. I believe you do need to reset manually the open close points to fix that. I hope your Gates working well. I really like my new one. I think it’s a vast improvement over the previous one. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Thanks for making the video. Thoughts on installing an additional post to hang the gate operator on instead of using the additional bracket? I am about to hang mine and thought about doing that instead.
I mean, I think that’s a good idea
I think that’s a good idea. It may be unnecessary though. The gate opener is really really good way better than the previous ones consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
thank you...most helpful!
Thank you for your comment. It’s been a good gate for me. I hope you have a good experience with it. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.
That helped a lot thanks 👍
Hello there. Very glad to hear that. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.
Thank you super helpful. Question if a person like me LOl screws up how do yiu start over to fix the open and close limits? Is there a video foe that. I wish i saw this video first. Vwry very well done Thank you
Yes, thank you for your nice comment. Don’t worry you can reset the open and close position easily. I have some other videos around the same time that address that just go to my channel. Click videos go to that date and you’ll see about five videos about different aspects of this gate opener. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Thank you

Joe, if a person screw's out the ram to adjust for short or long by hand will this mess with anything when setting the limits?? mine dont want to set a limit on pull to open at the fully open positions it will set the limit on fully closed but not fully open, any suggestions?
You ask an excellent question. If you do screw out the ram it could change the final position or set limit of either full close or full open. My only suggestion to this dilemma is to turn it all off and reset both open and close limits. It may work out OK that way. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
I had mine for 5 months now it opens and wont stop opening, then go to close about 2-3feet and stop, like it wont hold open stop position. Any ideas.
Wow, that’s incredibly frustrating. My only suggestion would be to try to reset. The whole thing start over. Disconnect the battery and then reprogram open and Stop positions. I hope that helps otherwise I’m not sure. Thanks. Joe.
great information i did try this myself i had the gate pull to opening mode i cracked it open to find that this model can't be set to stop on a pull to open position it has a small switch to auto stop on fully retracted mode it finishes at full retraction and stops but if it binds before that it reverses automatically and starts closing in other words mm371w only needs to know where to stop when extending keep the good videos coming along great watch now following
@@mondod3054 that is finely some good news ive been going bat S@#* CRAZY trying to get my 371 to stop where i want it at full open position, it seems to want to close all the way on its own no matter how i program it. also i have drawn a line in the ram where i want it to stop and it gos past that line at full open then i hit the remote and it gos to the line ive drawn, so it totally disregards all the previous extension limits i set for it.
Thanks for the video. I have had the 371 installed for about 14 months, and it's all good until now. 1; I have a beep every 4 or 5 seconds. 2; The motor does not respond to the remote.
3; The gate will open and close when I manually hold the open or close buttons. 4; When looking at the circuit board, the top button flashes red when the remote is pressed.
Can you advise, please?
OK I have had a similar thing happen. I’m not certain this will work, but this is what I would recommend. Disconnect the unit from the battery. Wait a good three or four minutes and then reconnected. That’s all I needed to do to mine to get it to work again it’s frustrating. You have to do this but basically it’s a reset. Just like with a computer. That’s my recommendation. Please try it. I hope it works. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.
I've set and reset the opening dozens of times, and each time it goes beyond the "STOP" position I previously set. It appears to travel until the Ram is fully " in" no matter how many times I reset it.😢
Did you ever figure this out? My new gate doesn’t stop either!?
That’s incredibly frustrating. I feel your pain. I experienced it myself and then I basically just reset it by disconnecting the battery and then reset everything and it worked. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Great information. I’m having an issue with the remote. It sometimes takes me pushing the button 5 times before the gate opens. It beeps and everything, it’s like the signal doesn’t catch until after the 5th or 6th time. Any suggestions why that is? Does it on all remotes. Hit or miss.
Thank you for your comment and question. I’m glad you found the video helpful. I would probably replace the battery or the remote as a first thing and be certain when I use the remote. It has a clear line of sight to gate opener. Apart from that, I’m really not sure. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
I have a weird situation it's a push to close(standard) setup...I am able to setup the close limit but not able to setup the open limit....it just opens and closes itself doesn't stop...
same here.
@taryldurant6356 I was able to fix it the issue was where I had connected the arm on the gate....had to shorten that a little bit and it's fixed
I wish I could get mine to work I have installed three MM gate openers in the past this so called smart one just will not work. already contacted the company. I hope it's something simple but i think i got a bad unit.
I am so sorry to hear that. You know I have been through a number of these gate openers, but the newest model has the electronics separately in a waterproof box which makes total sense much better than having the electronics in the motorhead which frequently would get wet, also susceptible to insect manifestation, etc. I hope it works out for you so far my new unit has worked very well. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Got it working... I think the problem was dip switches 4-5 were off and not on like in the picture in the manual. The manual says they do nothing but it makes me wonder cause it's now working with them in the on position.
? ever have problems with squrrels nipping the wires? I thought putting some kind of conduit to protect wires would be good where I live.
Thanks for your question. Squirrels can absolutely be a real problem. They ate up all the wiring in my RANGER twice which was just a mess. I fortunately haven’t had squirrels messed up my wiring with my gate opener yet but it could always happen. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
so how do you program your old style remotes to the new unit?
I did a video on this take a look at my video that was used to learn the old code. I already had to open the gate. The video is might wireless keypad learns Gate opening. It was published July 9, 2023. That should do it for you take care. Joe.
hey joe, quick question, how do i set the close limit?
If you download the user manual from mighty Mule, I think it’s on page 43. Thanks. Joe.
hello, i have a RB570 18VAC transformer running off 110V that i used on a MM560 to charge the battery.....will it work to charge the battery with this gate opener instead of solar.?
My idea is that yes it would be OK because we’re charging a 12 V automotive battery, so I think it’s gonna be all right. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.
Can I use a 19 volt dc x former instead of solar?
Hey buddy, that is a really good question. I think it takes 12 V from either a battery or car battery and then the car battery is recharged with the solar sale. I don’t know about a 19 V DC ex former sorry Joe.
@@JosephHunstad ty. The reason I asked is because solar is usually 19 volts and I want to remove my solar. I ran 110 v to the gate .
@@SulphuricAcidForTheSouL hey buddy have a 110 at the gate is the best he just hook up your transformer and you’re good to go. Take care. Joe
@@JosephHunstad thanks Joe....
