- Meg has some BIG NEWS! | The Lion Whisperer. In today's video, we're sharing some BIG NEWS about our girl Meg... be sure to watch to the end! As some of you may remember, a few months back we were given the advice from Dr. Caldwell to spay Meg due to concerns about the rapid growth of her mane and the fear that she may have pyometra like her sister Amy did. This story takes a MASSIVE turn so we'll let the video take it from here.

I just realized...had meg been left at the breeding facility Kev rescued meg and amy from when they got sold by the lion park, they would have thought Meg was infertile and probably sold her off for canned lion hunting or the bone trade 🥺😰 Thank you Kevin for fighting for and protecting such precious creatures ❤ #stopcannedlionhunting
All that matters is Meg is a beautiful healthy lion!
Agreed!
100 % yup🤗🥰
I was holding my breath at one point..Glad she is healthy - she seems such a lovely lion
@@LionWhispererTV Do you think this might have had anything to do with Meg and Amy never accepting another male lion?
Guys there is a change to see a lioness with a full developed mane
Meg is happy, Meg is healthy, Meg is safe and loved. That's all the matters :)
You got that right !!
WELL SAID
Very true
After reading through the comments to brace myself for what the news was. So I knew and was prepared. Then the way Kevin delivered and relayed the conversation between the Dr and Kevin. I laughed at the conversation itself. I love all of your animals. I Love Meg! ❤️ Always! ❤️❤️❤️
Good happy girl
This just makes Meg even more uniquely lovable. She has the most wonderfully unique personality we've all loved since we first met her. This changes nothing other than we keep loving her more every day.
Aww no one cares about this new situation. Meg is a gorgeous lion 🦁 whatever sex she / he is. Thanks for telling us all anyway Kevin.
I didn’t see that one coming. As long as Meg is healthy, that’s all that matters.
Definitely, didn't see that coming too
But she's still my meggie, still a cute little pumpkin 🥰🥴
Not sure about “ little” pumpkin 😳!!
@@serenityinside1 😂😂😂 I say that no matter the size
It's just they're pure and living life how they think it's good
EXACTLY!!!!! 🐾💜🐾
Should be Matt now.
Never in a million years would I have guessed that was going to be the announcement. Meg is a wonderful lion plain and simple.
People: "So, is it a boy or a girl ?"
Kevin: "It's a Meg."
Best comment ever
Perfect
This is spot on!
People: "So are you a boy or a girl?"
Non-binary person: "I'm a Me."
Perfect comment
AS LONG AS MEG IS HEALTHY THATS ALL THAT TRULY MATTERS.
Oh thank goodness, I was in tears, I thought you were going to tell us Meg was sick!. When you told us that Meg is a boy, I laughed and laughed with tears of joy that Meg is ok and is a boy. Meg is loved no matter what the gender, Meg is just Meg and we love her too bits.
No matter what, Meg will always be so loved by so many people.
Absolutely ♥️♥️
💯 Meg is one special lion!
I adore Meg! 💕🙏🇺🇸
@@barbaravance6774 I adore meg also, beautiful temperament
@@LionWhispererTV Meg the educator! Uniquely Meg, it’s her heart that is so special. That’s why I fell in love with her.
It's sad that you had to contemplate what to say for months and that you were so stressed in the video as you told us. The world shouldn't be like this. You did great, Meg is what Meg is and thats ok. Glad she is healthy.
"The world shouldn't be like this"
Oh come on now.
Don't put politics into this.
He literally just said: "Don't go PC about it"
I don't think anyone would of cared...and obviously, they don't.
@@dellalyn9918 if we love animals, we don't. Humans are the ones who can't accept when nature applies to themselves. being born with the wrong colour or wrong hormones among us is a poor start.Meg and amy were spinsters. now Meg a has an old pal. He's company.
Meg is still Meg
no matter what happens 🥰
Meg is majestic and brilliant
18 years of being happy, healthy Meg. Nothing changes. She'll always be the same Meg I've grown to love over the years❤
Even after 17 years Meg continutes to surprise you eh Kelvin? :-)
Animals can teach us so much.
Meg is magnificent.
To be honest I haven't been watching a lot since Amy passed and every time I see announcements on FB I always unconsciously brace myself. I'm so glad Meggie is okay.
Don’t leave lion whisperer channel. There’s so much joy here. There is heartache but also joy.
I admit it’s hard seeing Meg without Amy but I love Kevin’s work and how much he loves these beautiful souls too much to stop watching this channel. My heart gets so full just knowing how much he is doing for the animals, and for us by going out there everyday and giving them, and us, his all🥰
I know how you feel. I got sooooo attached to these lions so quickly and Amy’s death absolutely broke my heart. I have my monthly donations set up for them and check in now and then. I’m just today doing a bit of a binge because I’ve really missed Kev and the gang. I’m so stinking happy Meg is good!
@@rachelschwebach7566 One and the same; we know his favourites because they're impossibly old
She has always looked like a lioness and has always been our Meggy, until this recent issue. Every now and then this happens in nature. Not a big deal......she will always be our Sweet and beautiful Meg!😍
I was affraid you were going to tell us she had what Amy had.
Im just glad Meg is healthy and glad we found out first.
Thanks kev!!!
Thank god she doesn't have Leukemia. It's bad enough we lost Amy.
Meg never ceases to surprise. Like you said it changes nothing. A wonderful and beautiful feline.❤❤❤
Omg, same thing happened to me…I named my stray cat Annie..took her to vet to have spade..I called to check on her…the doc said, Annie is an Andy..but we fixed him anyway..lol
Spayed. The only thing I'd be concerned about is gender specific drugs for diseases being given incorrectly.
I do want to add, that as an RN I have seen this in many children who grow up to lead perfectly healthy productive lives and no one on the outside would ever know.
Agreed.
My understanding from an RN nurse is that it's a normal thing at birth for about one in every hundred. But there's enough room on Mother Gaia to love them all.
I have a close family member who had Kleinfelter’s and we/he never knew until he tried to have children. She had a wonderful life because of you and she might not have in the wild.
She was Meg before the testing on her organs was done and she’s still Meg and will always be Meg the beautiful lioness to me. Meg’s wonderful personality is truly who she is no matter her gender. Kevin never disappoints in a video, he’s one amazing man.
She’s a beautiful lion and that’s what she will always be. Kudos to you Kevin for telling us and loving all of the creatures in your care!
Absolutely. Meg is just the incomparable Meg no matter what a lab says. It is an interesting find tho.
@@Naron495 Hanuman
Kevin and his lion family have made my life better . I can live my dream through his videos .
Such a wonderful humanbeing.
After 17 years, Meg is Meg. End of story. It changes nothing about the lions personality.
Wow!!! The vet gets to write a paper, you get a feather in your cap for having an unisex lion. And Meg gets to be Meg. Perfect.
Male or female ...it dosen't matter MEG IS MEG and we love her ❤
.. him. :-)
Yes him !
No Differences, No complications, just Our Meg. As she is and always will be. 💗🇦🇺
Meg is Meg. And if Meg doesn't care, no one else should either. Just keep loving her as you always have because that's all she wants. ❤️
I don't think anybody really gives a damn - Meg is a gorgeous lion regardless of gender. As long as Meg is healthy, who cares? I'm in awe of the work you do and your exceptional devotion to all the animals in your care. Long may it continue.
Much love to you @Ari 159
And so say all of us. 😊
didn't give a dmn in the born free movie a double at the end a song they were mean left and the ravage
Meg is Meg. You absolutely right, it changes nothing, lots of love for this Lion.
The one and only Meg indeed. She will always be our girly. 🥰

Meg is still Meg, adorable and sweet. We all lover her.I was a bit upset thinking maybe you found cancer....but this is lovely and just makes her more special.Loved watching her movements as she wandered along with the camera on her back.Enjoy her and love her for years to come.🏴🐾👍🦁❤
WTG Meg, breaking boundaries and enhancing science all from the comfort of your home. It just goes to show just how super special Meg is 💖💖
That moment when she was on top of you and holding your head with one leg. Wow it’s amazing how much Meg cares for you Kevin such unbelievable relationship
Ah beautiful Meg. Nature is such a wonderful mystery.
Wow, such fascinating news! Meg is extremely precious but we always knew that. Nature is INCREDIBLE and Meg is the definition of all that word stands for.
Beautiful lion. 🙏🏻❤️
Meg's gender is of no concern, Meg's personality is everything.
Well said.
Absolutely ♥️♥️
Exactly, it changes nothing! 💛
She’s a Girl
Couldn't agree more.
I’m always so proud of the group of people that come on this channel to show their love n respect towards Kevin n his lovable furr babies … thank u for always being so polite, kind and respectful… the world needs more of this♥️♥️♥️♥️u all freaking ROCK!!!
Indeed, lucky to have such a lovely community!
You are very very sweet ❤️🥰 thank you
I also think that a community such as ours is incredibly beautiful and nourishing for a lot of people 🥰

@@Elena-cw1xu thank u♥️💪
The world would be a better place if this audience represented how people felt. Good people. Meg has been my favorite a long time, always will be!
The way she put her paws around your neck! Aww, she loves you and you take such good care of the lions! They know it too!
Meg is just one of many mysteries in life. She acts like a lion and there is really no difference in how she should be treated. The trust, love and overall sense of being part of this lions pride is patently obvious.
OMG my jaw just hit the floor. I was not expecting to hear this. Your right Kevin it doesn't matter. To many times people want to put a label on stuff. The only thing that should matter is love.
Not sure why anyone would have a problem with this. When my daughter turned out to be the same we loved her no less! Love you, Kevin, Meg, and the whole sanctuary family!!
That Roar, in the beginning from Meg, was for Amy !! You go Meg Amy hears you loud & clear !!
Meg is just Meg, always special and always wonderful. And, above all, healthy. Nothing else matters.
Ouch, my chin just hit the table! This is absolutely unbelievable. But of course you're right - it changes nothing. Meg will always be Meg and that's that. Won't make us love her any less and for me she will always be a girl. Thanks for sharing that with us - big hugs to you and Meg. Love y'all!
Yeah this happens rarely with humans too! All life is precious and Meg is just as special now as she was before we discovered this.
@@Tyler-hk4wo Not as rare in humans as you may think. 1 in 500 to 1000 men are born with XXY conditions. I personally am one such man who has 47, XXY otherwise known as Klinefelter's. Was definitely a shock to hear Kevin say Meg might actually have something similar.
@@jonathanwingate1901 oh interesting! Thanks for teaching me something new 👍
@@jonathanwingate1901 Really, interesting. So, under 200,000 per year is pretty rare, yes? I know I read that something like 75% of men with the syndrome are never diagnosed.
GOBSMACKED . I was fearing the worst then what the hell . Kevin knows how to walk us down the long trail . Go Girl / Boy
We love you Meg .
My jaw dropped and I think I've got a bruise on my knee. Lets face it Meg will always be Meg, the lion loved by all.
Meg is a much-loved,, good-natured kitty cat and thats all she needs to be.
Well, that finally explains the mane! Meg will always be beautiful Meg to me! xox
Meg is a miracle either way, and your powerful bond with Meg will transcend into the next world! Thanks for being honest about the news and hope you two have long lives together! x
Just another unique feature about the one and only, much loved, Meg ❤️❤️❤️
Just makes her even more special ❤️

"Well I guess that makes me top girlie in this joint."
Signed: Gaby.
Gabby is definitely the top lady.
Nope Meg is still a girl. Stay mad.
😂🙌
LOL... you can imagine her saying that! 🤣🤣🤣 She's always been my top female!
@@snitox Who’s mad? Sounds like you are. You’re ascribing human sociopolitical attributes to a biologically male animal who never ‘identified’ as anything other than what Meg is..it’s a Meg. Meg probably always knew she was male and this is why Amy was happy with her and any male Kevin tried to introduce ‘never forgave him’…genuine quote from Kevin. He even contemplated many times out loud how strange that was. Animals aren’t like humans and their many ‘identities’…she was a male with Undescended testes. Full stop.
Totally not a big deal.
That was certainly unexpected. Very interesting though and would be a fascinating read once the paper is published. Love you Meg!
I love Meg, at her age I was really worried about what you were going to say. My heart was in my feet waiting. But when you gave the news, I was surprised and glad she was okay. Don't care about her gender, she is and will always be your girlie. She lights up when you call her that.
Adorably well said 😘!
She has always been my favourite lion and SHE still is,I just love her!!!! Makes not one iota of difference Kevin. Love from Australia and big hug for beautiful Meg.
Still presents as female. A transexual lioness. go figure ! Whatever people may say, the proof is there that nature is wild .It's the human mind that can be very small.

As long as Meg is healthy, & happy, that's all that really matters. Like you said, it changes nothing! Meg is amazing
My jaw dropped! Meg is always Meg no matter what happens! Lots of hugs 🤗and love to you Maggie from Vancouver!
"Meg will always be Meg"- you said it Kevin! Much love to you both! ROAR! 🦁 🧡
Meg is a legend, nuff said!!! Kevin, you show us how REAL humanity should be, in harmony with our surroundings and life that shares this place.
Kev, I’m just laughing my head off! Kudos to you for your great attitude! I think it’s just so funny 😂. Glad Meg is healthy. Thanks for telling us!
Meg is MAGNIFICENT - no MATTER !!
Megnificent
I mean the medical term is intersex yeah, but the more important thing is that Meg is healthy and happy.
Awww Meg is still a beautiful girl. I'm so grateful to be able to witness the amazing relationship you two have. Very happy to hear that she is happy and healthy 😊
I Will always love Meg 🥰 and what joy she has brought into my life♥️.
I was thinking that Meg was somehow pregnant, even after living alone for so long!! DAMN YOU KEVIN!!
LOL! Yeah, like maybe a wild Lion climbed that fence and got in Meg's enclosure and impregnated her....
Exactly what i thought when i read the title
Once again she is helping the world understand more about lions. This doesn’t change anything. She is and will always be the lovely and wonderful Meggie!! Lots of love to Meg and all at the sanctuary. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🦁🦁🦁
Wow ! But it doesn't matter, Meg is MEG, we all love her to bits!
O.M.G. 😮😮😮 Megs a boy! Still love him to bits x may he live forever in perfect health & happiness bless him. x
Just so long as she's healthy, it matters not what labels we put on her.
Meg is a beautiful girl and always will be.🦁
@@karenwalker6710 She is a he. Or at least intersex.
I always knew Meg was a special lion! So relieved that she is healthy…. I was getting worried for a moment.
She is precious her roar is amazing!
That is not a "roar". Thats something else.
Same here! We hadn't seen Meg for some months now and I was getting pretty worried. SO relieved she (for lack of a better pronoun since she can't tell us which she prefers ;-) ) is healthy!
@ George R … thank you for correcting me… I think the noise Meg made was called Chuffing….. but what ever it was it was amazing and I got chills.
You were right. I was completely shocked by the results! Luckily for cats, they don't have gender, so I'm sure Meg the Lioness will be just as happy as they've been all these years. Love this news!
yes, they do. if they didn't they would've died out long long long ago. You need different genders to procreate
Over a Decade CLOSELY hanging out with these Lions and Kevin does not even have a noticeable scratch on him...This will always Amaze me...The relationship he has with these Animals is Extraordinary...Lionesses even let him hold their Cubs...Trust and Love
🤣 KR is held together by scratches, like all cat lovers ❣
Got to admit…. Didn’t see that one coming! Meg is one special lion/lioness🤣 But we all still love her❤️❤️❤️
I just love that tuft of fur by her ear. Such a special Lioness 😍
Me too!!! Megs little tuft!!! Love it 🤗😉
watched the vid. closely did you. lol
Wow I never expected that. To me though, Meg is Meg and that’s all that matters. ❤️
Meg is Meg, always was, and always will be. 'Nuf said.🥰
Well I guess that explains why Meggy was developing a mane!!!
Right? 🤷🏻♀️ Who knew? 💕🙏🇺🇸
Go figure! xD
@@stormember she also doesn't allow another male lion in her enclosure
@@dagimseid6638 Yes. A few people have pointed that out. I'm not sure how you mean to relate to my comment though.
Nevermind. It's my fault - I was thinking you were responding to a totally different comment lol. And yes, the mane, the rejection of male lions... the puzzle pieces are coming together
I am so grateful to be a part of this 🦁 family, thanks for the news, my love to you Kevin and beautiful Meg!! 🙏🏼💙🦁
Thank you for being part of our lion family! 😊
Omg it was taking so long for Kev to say it that I thought it was going to be bad news! What a relief 😅 😂
We had Sissy. Took her for spaying and found she was a he. Renamed her "CC" for Confused Cat! Same sweet, wonderful animal.
SO refreshing to see Meg again. Its just amazing how that go pro last thru all of Megs rolly polly cutness! Good to hear Meg's doing well! Much love Kev!
