    At 41:17 mark is a reminder to ALL skiers, no matter what your skill level is, please be careful on the runs, and don't tackle a run your skill are not sufficient for. I wish that skier a full recovery.

      100% agree, skiing is much more fun when you are in one piece at the end of the day. Happens to expert skiers too, all it takes is one mistake and anyone can go down. Enjoy the mountains but stay safe out there.

    great video bye the way, im heading over there this January, i too have a hero 7 black, do you mind telling me what settings you used, as my last ski trip i wasn't very happy with the footage, i got, yours was super smooth compared to mine. thanks

    • @12carracer
      @12carracer  Місяць тому

      Thanks! Yeah of course, so it was filmed at 4k 30 FPS, I find that actually looks better than 4k60 on my GoPro (think it's to do with the bitrate) with my FoV on "SuperView". Stabilisation "Auto", Protune "On", Shutter "Auto", EV Comp "-0.5" which stops the white snow and bright sun being way over exposed, white balance "5500K" doesn't have to be that number, just pick one so that the colours are more consistent than auto. ISO Min "100", ISO Max "1600", Sharpness "Low" so it doesn't get artificially over sharpened by the camera itself, colour "Flat".
      Hopefully these help, it's probably not the most optimal settings but they worked for me!

    Anyone else at 34:45 rooting for them to beat the esf line but then immediately end up feeling sorry for the kid getting stuck and the instructor marching off instead haha

      What you can't hear is me holding back the laugh when I saw him get stuck, he actually ended up on the same chair as me going up so he was alright in the end haha

    Nice one! Thanks for making this video. Planning a trip there this season. Is the route you did here feasible for 1 day ? i.e did you have enough time to make it back to base? I notice your ski time is over an hour but this doesn't include lift times etc

    • @12carracer
      @12carracer  11 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching it :) It's absolutely feasible, I did this and a similar route back again after a stop for lunch in Plan Bouchet in the "4th Valley". I got to the furthest point around 1ish I think (not taking the most efficient runs or skiing very fast) but bee-lined my way back to Courchevel, arriving back at about 4pm I think. It's just that my camera ran out of memory as soon as I started the journey back so couldn't film it! It's a nice little challenge to do it in a day and I slept well afterwards

    what did you use to record this with the GPS speed?

    • @12carracer
      @12carracer  Рік тому +3

      I filmed all this on my (now slightly outdated) GoPro Hero 7 Black. If you connect that to the GoPro App on your phone, you can add various widgets, one of them being the GPS speedometer you see here, you then export that from the app on your phone and take those files from your phone to your PC for editing. It's an annoying work-around, the GoPro desktop app used to be able to do this but for reason it's now unable to. You can also extract the GPS data from your files and use an external programme to represent that in graphs and gauges like the one shown, Garmin have a good programme for that I think. You need to make sure though that before you start recording, the camera is turned on for long enough for the little GPS symbol to appear on the screen otherwise it won't record GPS data for your run.

      @@12carracer thank you dude. I've seen quite a few videos of elevation graphs too, is that using the GPro and the app as well?

    • @12carracer
      @12carracer  Рік тому

      @@Trihawk7 Yeah that's one of the other options, I think there's also a GPS map type of thing, but I thought this was the simplest and cleanest looking one

      @@Trihawk7 The graphics are added afterwards, but you must make sure your GoPro has the little GPS indicator on screen before you start recording

    was this from the top to the foot of the mountain 🏔️ 1 hour 20min?

    • @12carracer
      @12carracer  2 місяці тому

      This was from Courchevel 1600 (far left of the piste map for 3 valleys) down to Orelle (4th valley furrther to the right on the piste map). So it wasn't one mountain, but zig-zagging up and down to move across the whole resort. This is 1hr20, with most of the lift time cut out, and using a fairly direct route. Most people would take time to do a few more runs in each area, but I just wanted a challenge to get across and back with lunch in one day.
