"I've tested it for two years now, and I must say it doesn't perform well under Full spectrum LEDs with far-red diodes. The PAR reading it provides is about 100/120 PAR lower than it actually is, which is significantly higher. It works well under HPS/CMH. lights However, the upside is that I ended up using too much energy, so I could manage with less energy. So i'm not using it anymore with LEDs.

Another great tool you found here!
Do you have an update regarding the very cheap Uni -T UT383BT Lux meter you talked about 2 months ago as i can't be the only one that bought it :)
You then talked about "improving the accuracy with updated calibration for the most common LED grow light spectrum on the market", i'd be very interesting in using this Lux meter with my ES 300, any chance? Or a calibration that would be close to the ES300 spectrum (which seems to be around 2700K?)?

Have you changed the batteries? Sounds dumb, but some of this low priced stuff can lack in maintaining performance with anything but fresh quality batteries... even though the display is still clear, or no battery warning is given (even if it has a gauge that still says full). The voltage regulation circuitry on low priced stuff can be lacking or missing.
If so, it's interesting to see reduced numbers.

@@volvo09 Yes, I changed the batteries when I noticed the drop but they still read low. In my expericnce it seems a lot of the cheap instruments I've bought like this are very accurate at first, but tend to lose their calibrations pretty quickly. Get what you pay for I guess.

The Apogee brand meters have multiple sensor options, that cover slightly different ranges of the spectrum, from as low as 370 nm to as high as 750 nm. There are datalogging options. And they have firmware that can be updated in order to correct a discovered issue or (possibly) add new features. The sensors are waterproof and some of them have automatic immersion effect correction (useful if one is working with aquarium lights and such). Apparently, the cables can be extended up to 100 meters / 329 feet. You'd definitely be "getting more" with an Apogee meter. On the other hand, if a person has no need or interest in the features, it would be sensible to spend less on a lesser product that still has the same *basic* functionality.
One thing, though: As you stated, it's relatively close in results to the Apogee. However, the difference does not appear to be consistent - you got calculated variances of .01%, .1%, and 2.5%. Of course, there is no way to determine the root of that - the inconsistency could be wholly in the Spot On, a combination of the two, or even wholly in the Apogee's readings. (Or, in theory, I suppose there could have been some kind of variance in the light source between the time you used one meter and the time you used the other.)

Perfect question! At first, his Apogee didn't, but I believe he got a newer/different model that had larger parameters from UVB up to Infra-red..?
I wonder how well it can check for spectrum charts, as well as all the other information that's available through the App, or the device he uses that shows the spectrum peaks when testing lights.
I believe that device gets it's information from The Apogee sensor? But that device may have it's own sensor? I'll have to check some past test videos and pay close attention. Heads a bit foggy this morning..?
