There are franchises like Chuck E Cheese that have playground like facilities but if the employee doesn't have someone keeping an eye on her kids it can be a problem if one gets hurt. Some companies offer daycare for their children.
I agree her children should not be running around the place. She is putting her own children at risk. It’s great that she gave the one lady money for her book and implemented a program for hiring more people with disabilities, and also that she helped the one guy with his wedding. That was all very kind.
The Rita's near me is under new ownership since this happened, so I don't know if it has improved. When I took my son last year, they had no Italian Ice. Couldn't order it. The single employee seemed pissed that I would try to order it. Each order took walking to the back, then up front, then back again, to make. Tables were dirty, and permanently stained with food coloring. Not a great first impression.
Ya well it’s cheap Italian ice, it’s boardwalk food usually. It’s often run by Broke teens/adults. (Like poorer then McDonald’s workers) if a store is ever out of an item it’s not the register worker who didn’t put in a slip for a new product shipment it’s an issue with management/manager not putting in the order because that’s who controls the money. Those teens at the register CANT order more so asking them Where it is/Why they didn’t do it is ridiculous as it’s not their job to restock products but the actual shelves. The tables being wiped down sounds like an issue with how many staff members you have: if there’s 1 person on register they can’t just walk away and leave it open to wipe off 4 sprinkles from the table they’d have to sign in/sign out to wipe down the tables and they can be yelled at for walking away/signing out from the register. - so the tables won’t be cleaned by them they’ll be cleaned once the building is closed to the public and the worker has actual time to clean it without getting in trouble
Workplace is not a babysitting service. take the brats to daycare. I once worked at a place where the secretary would have her baby in the office constantly crying, using the office trash cans as dirty diapers disposal. Which made the office smell so bad and we were a small company in a small town so we had potential clients come in and they would smell that. One day she locked the baby inside the office and blamed us later even though she had the keys and she was the last one out of the office.
Do you think she actually wants to bring her kids to work? She needs to make a paycheck too. Someone needs to say something about the diapers. That is not cool. But imagine having to bring your kids to work because you have no one to watch them. And cannot afford daycare that gets their kid sick everyday day they are there. And in turn you get whatever sickness they have.

This guy had lots & lots & lots of excuses. Every so often the boss would fly down & meet with him. He always told the guy he was coming to ensure he would be there and the boss wouldnt waste a trip. One day at the home office the boss was again bitching about this low performer & was again going to go down. suggested upon arrival found the office locked up mid day on a working day. He called the guys cell & heard boat motors in the background. After some digging the boss found this guy was spending much time on the water & minimal time working. When the cats away the mice will play. !

All of the stuff she did should have been done if these companies cared about their businesses they would work with each location and make sure they are able to afford it . If not they should help them . After watching these shows I want to stay away from the big companies . Too many corners cut .
I work for a franchise (realestate)- There are certain things each brand puts into their contracts that the franchisee owner agrees to when they sign contracts and they have to adhere to these. They also have to pay corporate a portion of their sales. however, the owners of the franchisee are the ones that are operating and paid into the business to be a franchise.
Sometimes the franchise owners are wrong. This is a case of both sides have issues. It sort of reminds me of Subway the $5.00 dollar footlong was a money maker for all franchises. Problem is like foreign cab drivers who destroyed the taxi business because they hate credit card frees these franchise owners rebelled against the promotion that made them more money because they felt they could be making MORE.
Yeah...no. The $5 deal was extremely profitable when it first came out countrywide - in 2008, but as inflation, labor costs, and food costs increased over the next decade, it stopped being profitable. From 2013-2017 it was phased out for that reason, and then when it came back costs had increased to a point where the deal was extremely unprofitable even at the most trafficked stores, and even there, they were making literal pennies on the lower quality subs, but still losing out on the higher quality ones. Because of subway's strategy to aggressively expand as much as possible and just let unsuccessful stores die (which is why you'd have subways literally less than a mile away from one another and both would have low traffic because they are in the same neighborhood), as well as competition of other brands, foot traffic at most stores were lower per store by the time they brought it back. This basically ensured that the $5 footlong was unprofitable because they couldn't even make the base sales of 8 footlongs/hr average per day needed to keep it profitable by making pennies on it, and in some cases, some footlongs were just always unprofitable when it came back. Like the roast beef footlong literally cost them like 87c net loss to make. Somewhere like McDonalds can lose money on a single item, making some shitty quality kids burger and selling hundreds of them while upselling drinks and shit, but subway, which has far less foot traffic, can't do that with their literal main staple food where they have few add-ons and expect to stay in business.
I mean, yes and no. Like the other guy said it was ultimately the times a changing, but there were some cases like that brought that to the forefront over the years.
I’ve NEVER seen a chain that’s a 100% consistent in its opening / closing hrs. So, for a chain where the stores average about $300K, I get having to customizing hours that work for you.... as $300K is very low restaurant wise. -- Now, the other stuff, she’s lucky she didn’t lose her store.
I liked how that the Andrew guy helped that one girl get a job despite her being on the spectrum it’s good to hear that he help her out n became his best employee

The ants, using my urethra as a cargo ship, open their own franchise. It's called wake me up and make me dance in the kitchen drawers. So far - no good.
Yeah, the first guy was just not funded enough to make upgrades. (Didn't come in with enough cash, which is not a good sign of your franchising system.) The second person was rogue because of a lack of oversight. Worked for a company that had roving inspectors that came by the stores as customers, took pictures from afar. Wasn't in the store enough to see the behind the scenes dirt enough to stop an employee from robbing the place for four years. The third person was the best carpet call, because it was the system implemented that caused his problems, which caused her to go, "Yeah, this isn't good enough. We need to make it better." He's a great manager and I'd love to see a complete picture of him running the shop.
Any senior manager knows the value of walking about talking to the low level workers. They will tell you things that your junior managers won’t tell you, as they just blow smoke up your arse.
"Owners" who don't remember they signed agreements with others to even have that name on the business' door, those kind of people make me angry. "I'll run it my way too bad so sad," basically.
She cannot blame the failing employees as she has been failing as well, otherwise the Stores would not be in such condition. When employees only quiet-quit after their managers have done so .
What the CEO needs to understand is that mandating new POS and C/Card systems cost money, and if you shaft your franchisees and nickel and dime them at every turn, you can’t expect them to magically come up with the money needed because you, sitting in your ivory tower, made a decision. If you, as CEO, mandate this shite, you need to pay for it in every store, not just the one store yiu saw was struggling. News flash… they are all struggling.
How about a show where these "wonderful, generous" bosses don't know the camera is on them and see what happens. Obviously all this generosity is for publicity. Not reality at all.

I know this isnt for every "bad" employee, but sometimes there are people who just need some guidance. I hope they all do well.
Thank you for highlighting undercover to ten minutes, saving me an hour, I don't have to waste my time watching the full hour.
This is how you get a great owner of a brand. Most corporate people got their jobs handed to them. People who work from the ground up know what it takes to be succesful by pleasing both the customers and your team members under you.
(Like poorer then McDonald’s workers)
if a store is ever out of an item it’s not the register worker who didn’t put in a slip for a new product shipment it’s an issue with management/manager not putting in the order because that’s who controls the money.
When you can afford a franchise but can't afford daycare. Hahaha.
“Brats” you don’t have to be rude about it
Do you think she actually wants to bring her kids to work? She needs to make a paycheck too. Someone needs to say something about the diapers. That is not cool. But imagine having to bring your kids to work because you have no one to watch them. And cannot afford daycare that gets their kid sick everyday day they are there. And in turn you get whatever sickness they have.
@@zackjackson5562 She doesn't want to put them in daycare. SHE CAN AFFORD A FRANCHISE ON A POPULAR BRAND BUT NOT DAYCARE. B*LLSHIT.
@@zackjackson5562 should of thought about that before you had kids. The secretary made more than the crew did, she could afford daycare.
Good to see the Video, as the CEO is replacing ice from the outside of the container back into the container!
This is an absolute NO GO, and I am going to avoid those shops wherever I can!!
She is following instructions of indevidual franchise members and some of them were breaking the rules
These are such great American stories....starting from scratch and reaching the stars. love it
What I liked about this episode, is that no one had to get fired! She was working with ALL of them, to improve them, rather than toss them. Kudos. A lot of employers would've tossed at least 2 of them.
She was dealing with franchises. She can't just walk in and replace them. There are contracts involved.
An uplifting and touching at tines record of a CEO being EFFECTIVE.
She actually looked much better as a brunette. I was not expecting that
At least this one isn't "You're not doing things my way, so you're out." but a more constructive "You're not doing things my way, here's the help you need to make it right"
When contracts are involved, all parties have to abide by said contracts.
@@aaronthomas6155 I agree. But with her opening two hours later, she has already broken the contract. Adding to the negative, she outwardly stated she doesn't care for corporate guidelines, and she will run it as she seems fit. Her license to operate under the Rita's name could have been taken from her that day. I wouldn't have handled this as well as the CEO did. Props to her.
Even when it doesn't seem fair it is corporate America and it comes down to 'My Brand, my rules!'. Let's not forget the free advertising by Undercover Boss.
Andrew deserves every bit of credit he gets
The man loves and cares for the buisness and its employees
Lady earned the title "Boss"
If you wanna be your own boss/ run your own business and set your own opening times etc don't be a franchise owner lol, you're not really the boss.
This CEO is a heaven sent from above. God bless you for having such a big heart.
Have to say that's kind of a happy ending in for a big business CEO she's a pretty good person.
They are not employees. They are Franchisees. Title is wrong.
That's the name of the owner, the people she is talking to are employees of the Franchisee. Before you bash the creator why don't you use some critical thinking lmfao. I only see one owner here mostly employees lmfao * clearly I'm dumb or deaf and can't hear*
@@BionicMan95 case you missed it 2:08 3:23 5:03. They are clearly the franchise OWNERS.
@sureshmukhi2316 You know what you are right. I'll own that one. I heard it once but when u sent it like that I missed it the first time. I also included another employee in that mix that could also be why I missed it but you are 100% right and to that Sir I apologize!
@@BionicMan95 thank you for the apology. 🤝
@sureshmukhi2316 Hey if I made a mistake, I will be the first to admit it!
Didn’t know they actually had dial up in 2017.
My sister had dialup at home until about 2019.
This episode aired in 2020, NOT 2017 as there was a segment with people wearing masks… so that makes it even worse… 2020 and you’re still using dial up?
Best episode of undercover boss I've ever watched and I watched it right here
this is why secret shoppers are important, too. if there's no oversight, these franchisee's will get lazy sometimes, especially with something like mcdonald's where someone or a small group might own several and not actually be there operating the things themselves.
@7:50
"Hezrron has gotten his new cash register & is no longer delaying his customers"
...as he delays his customer from getting the ice cream because he's getting his picture taken 😆 lol 😆
As a solo father of three, do you know how much just $15K would be to someone who it takes almost a year to make that much?
YEARS AGO,
I worked at a place that had a satellite office about 500mi away
from the home office. That location only had 1 employee. The
boss was always on this guy because he wasnt very productive.
This guy had lots & lots & lots of excuses. Every so often the
boss would fly down & meet with him. He always told the guy he
was coming to ensure he would be there and the boss wouldnt
waste a trip. One day at the home office the boss was again
bitching about this low performer & was again going to go down.
suggested
upon arrival found the office locked up mid day on a working day.
He called the guys cell & heard boat motors in the background.
After some digging the boss found this guy was spending much
time on the water & minimal time working.
When the cats away the mice will play.
!
Wow, what a boss ...
🎉🎉🎉
She's just great. I never met such a kind, hardworking yet strict boss.
I love how half the problems on undercover boss just comes down to corporate not being told about the problems by their store managers
Hard work and then offered a CEO and president position. Networking/connections is something many always leave out of these success stories
A sandwich shop in the Fresno CA area had decided to change all the recipes and really destroyed the entire company and the original owners sued for the damages and won got them shut down and they had to pay a lot of money for the destruction
I couldn't make sense if your comment because you haven't used any full stops, or commas, sorry.
What corporate needs to understand all those so called updates cost money and not every location is willing to put that upfront. Corporate needs to start putting out some cash if they want changes
Which she did and they do they give a upfront budget when you joi na frqnchise most the time the first guy spent it on areas that the coroporate didnt forsee as it was unique spend8ng to his area and location which she corected by fund8ng the uogrades aswell as investing in some the unique areas of igs location
People need to just be open to hiring disabled people. Eventually it won’t be as big a deal to people outside the community because they will see us in every role. Disabled people deserve to make money.
I really agree! Thanks for stating this. 😊💕Thanks for watching the episode! - Pastiche (From the Undercover Boss episode, Rita’s Italian ice)
All of the stuff she did should have been done if these companies cared about their businesses they would work with each location and make sure they are able to afford it . If not they should help them . After watching these shows I want to stay away from the big companies . Too many corners cut .
BUYING FRANCHISE BUSINESS CAN BE DAUNTING.....SO MUCH CAN GO WRONG.ALSO I THINK SOME CONSIDER IT BUYING A JOB!!
Why are you yelling?
I don't know why anyone falls for these scams
If you are considering a Franchise, research Subway sandwich shops. The CEO should be in prison.
This is the only way I could ever enjoy reality tv. I'm very much a, "Just the facts, ma'am" type of person.
It's so interesting that I as an european don't know any of the brands from undercover boss...
So big but so small....😅
5:25 I'd be more concerned with that shelf, straining under the weight. That's a workers comp claim waiting to happen.
I didn't know dial-up was still a thing
Correct me if I'm wrong but a Franchisee is also an employee as they work for Corporate.
YOU ARE CORRECT!!
Wrong, except maybe with the new laws in California.
Another wonderful boss!!!! 👍🏼
People still use dial up? That's insane.
A boss looking at the reality of their situation over the expectations she gets from Yes-Men.
Yes men!
an entire show in 8 minutes.
4:22 ....why use a franchisee if you want to run business on your own terms thats stupid
Shame on the boss for letting things get that bad
If that woman wants to run someone's shop her way then she needs to start her own business😅
"Why doesn't your store have a sign to show customers where to order?"
Owner: "I am dictating what is best for my family."
What makes me pissed off corporate always think they're helping but really make it more of a mess than it is now
My boss owns a workshop. But his main boss owns the whole shop. I never meet the big boss of the workshop😮
Using a credit card to pay for an ice cream is nuts, and who has to pay for all the upgrades she wanted?
I liked how that the Andrew guy helped that one girl get a job despite her being on the spectrum it’s good to hear that he help her out n became his best employee
CEO needs to put her up.
Bro Andrew is a real one for taking in someone with autism when nobody else would
Couldnt get broadband until last month. And i live in a "high technology corridor".
I wish Rita's was out in the PNW (Washington mostly). This is my favorite and miss it so much!!
Anybody don't feel weird that a high definition camera is following the new employee slash hidden boss? Isn't that obvious that she is a undercover boss?
The whole thing is obviously set up and scripted.
They literally said they were told they are filming a documentary about a woman starting a new career.
Linda looks like a great leader. But does anyone else think she looks better with darker hair?
The ants, using my urethra as a cargo ship, open their own franchise.
It's called wake me up and make me dance in the kitchen drawers.
So far - no good.
I want to invest in ant pants?!
Oh wow i used to work for a Rita's Italian Ice, I will have to give this a watch
Sometimes you need a little help for success, and that's the right way to do it 👍
Yeah, the first guy was just not funded enough to make upgrades. (Didn't come in with enough cash, which is not a good sign of your franchising system.)
The second person was rogue because of a lack of oversight.
Dial up omg 😂
Bruh she's a very supportive boss I like her
Become a franchisee to do shit your way? Makes 0 sense. If you want to do things your way, start your own business.
Thank you boss
And none of them figure that they were set up? Sure...
Stefani is fortunate to be able to open at 2 pm and not lost her business.
500, 000 thousand to improve the company inventory system....... That's crazy. Way to much money. Should have outsourced it for way less.
Any senior manager knows the value of walking about talking to the low level workers. They will tell you things that your junior managers won’t tell you, as they just blow smoke up your arse.
love Rita's even more
"Owners" who don't remember they signed agreements with others to even have that name on the business' door, those kind of people make me angry. "I'll run it my way too bad so sad," basically.
Viewers who don't realise it's all scripted nonsense, all in the name of making a TV show
Woow this made me a little sad cause a dear friend of mine has passed away and his birthday was also on May 10th! 😔
I worked for a Philadelphia area retailer who banned Bob Tuolo's wife for ticket switching! I refuse to buy their products, as a result.
She cannot blame the failing employees as she has been failing as well, otherwise the Stores would not be in such condition. When employees only quiet-quit after their managers have done so .
Quiet quit? it's called a no call no show.
I have never heard of this company. I don't think we have one in my state.
The Rita's franchise near me isn't struggling. That place is packed from open to close every day.
How about a show where these "wonderful, generous" bosses don't know the camera is on them and see what happens. Obviously all this generosity is for publicity. Not reality at all.
Sounds more like she wants the owners to spend all their money on new equipment. I bet she's getting a kick back on it.
When you sign a franchise you have to follow all there procedures
