Tick you are an amazing rider and it was a great pleasure to get a chance to ride with you. Always great to see the WOLFTICK duo when we come up to Arkansas.
I’m rocking 130mm travel on my 29”Bomber Z2! I’m glad it performed well and was buttery! When you change the travel I think it will meet all your expectations! Mine also came with more stealthy black/grey decals. Great episode! Tick was very knowledgeable about all the back door entrances
would you do 120 or 130mm travel bomber z2 style fork if u switched from a 50 lb pedal assist emtb with a coil shock of 100mm travel to a air shock z2 or keep it within the non ebike type z2 bomber upgrade at 130mm for a non jumper just dark blue trail rider? cause the whole system accepts ebike trail riding with their newest for eoptimized.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the Bomber Z2. I can't wait to see what it will do if you get the "mystery" adjustment in travel for it.. If the other source doesn't get it too you, let me know I have a 130 mm air shaft for for one just sitting here. Same thing goes for anyone else #wolfticknation who might be thinking of changing the travel on their Bomber Z2.
The foam rings under the seals come dry on the bomber, if you give the foam rings an oil bath along with a couple volume spacers the bomber will be even smoother, keep shredding 🤙
The original bomber that came out in 96 (coil in open oil bath) gained marzocchi the bombproof & buttery reputation, great to see they still have it. Considering that this was in 100mm mode going against much bigger travel forks it really punched high!!
The Bomber Z2 shares the internals of the Fox 34 Rhythm , it is different than the other Fox 34 forks. The only similarities between the Rhythm/Z2 and the other Fox 34 forks are they are both 34 mm forks.
Definitely air pressure and tokens to provide proper action at both ends. The compression knob is not used to limit travel, more adjust to terrain. Best to carry a short fork pump to play with air pressures as you get used to a fork until you know what you need. Particularly hard to remember exact numbers if you have so many bikes, with different forks and setups. Have to keep a note on a spreadsheet in the cloud to refer to when you jump from one bike/fork to another.
If you think it's bottoming out too much you should be able to add tokens to the Marzocchi ...Probably more suitable than just tightening the dampening.
I agree with the other comments, I think the fork just doesn't have enough travel for what you ride. Open it up and extend to 150mm to get a good direct comparison to the 35 Gold.
@@throbbinwoodofcoxley6830 I've heard the same and was surprised they rated the 35 gold so high, that's why I'm thinking the 100mm of travel was holding back the forks score a little bit
In order to increase the travel, I believe you have to obtain a longer shaft. The fork probably came with a couple volume spacers, you could add one, it will add some progressiveness to the travel, and might help reduce bottom-out. I have the 120 mm version, and I love it. I like the RAIL damper, its easy to change the oil, and works well enough for me, I dont ride trails with downhill sections long enough for damper fade to ever become an issue.
Great review. Good riding and good to see it truly working. Some people say you should extend it. I agree, but for the bike it is on dont go past 140mm. And anyway the Z2 is at its best at 120mm-140mm from what I have seen witb buddies bikes. Also in terms to compared to rock shox 35 gold, the Marzzochi should take the cake be default. We are talking about a Fox suspension product that has the internals from forks that far out perform even rock shox mid level select series. Not to mention the Marzzochi products with run far longer with low down time. They are built burlier and Are intended for hard riding and high level riders. The Rock Shox 35 is intended for entry level rider. I am a big marzo guy, rode them back in the early 2000's and still ride them today. I have the Bomber Z1, the Z2s big burly brother extended to 170mm of travel with 29 inch wheels. I Also have their coil shock in the rear which is an amazing product. I love how simple they are to set up, how easy to service they are and in comparison too forks they compete with, their value is only rivaled by SR suntour. I have friend on 1800$ forks and suspension set ups and they all say Marzo hits way above its weight class. For you guys I recomend extending it to 130mm, you'll have a fork that wont stress the frame's head angle and you'll have a very aggresive mini enduro set up. My Bomber Z1 was originaly 160mm when I bought it and I got extended to 170mm. My local suspension shop did it affordably and quick!
would you do 120 or 130mm travel bomber z2 style fork if u switched from a 50 lb pedal assist emtb with a coil shock of 100mm travel to a air shock z2 or keep it within the non ebike type z2 bomber upgrade at 130mm for a non jumper just dark blue trail rider? cause the whole system accepts ebike trail riding with their newest for eoptimized. ty
Yeah I was thinking add the progression to it just because it doesn't have much travel. Adding more travel probably starts totally messing with the Walmart bikes geometry which was probably intended for something closer to 80mm.
I have never had the Z2, i have rocked the Z1 plenty of times and i really like Bombers 100mm defo doesnt give this fork enough space to get its swole on 130mm and about they REALLY com to life. Awesome review though guys simply awesome
As already mentioned some commenters below - you have too short travel for such a ride. I think you should start from 120-130mm version for that kind of jumps. I have 130mm Z2 and it is quite good to ride :)
I hated mine. I traded it out for a yari. I love my yari. I even upgraded to the rc2 dampener. But the motion control really isn’t that bad. Motion control does as good as the marzocchi but smoother and easier to dial in. The RC damper is harder to dial in but way better than marzocchi. The yari + RC damper is less expensive than the marzocchi
Once I get to the higher end Fox and Rock Shocks stuff there just becomes a point where everything is pretty good and it sort of becomes personal preferences regarding brand. IMO. Maybe I just don't have enough experience with each to pick a favorite.
This 100mm fork is probably a perfect match for the ledge X1 because the rear travel suffers badly on the ledge X1 it only has like 2" travel not to good for a duel suspension bike.
i love my rock shock 35 140mm travel not so much on the rear shock it's a float x 130mm i think.. 2022 stump jumper alloy.. gonna upgrade back shock and them stupid breaks
Someone's gotta explain to wolfman about lockouts😅. It's just low speed compression damping. Reason most nicer forks don't fully "lock" is because they have blow off valves so they don't explode under big compressions. The cheap forks don't last for this reason, they fully lock because it's poorly translated marketing. Honestly 85% of riders/bikes don't need a lockout anyway. Unless you're xc racing, you'll never notice a lack of efficiency on the clock vs increased comfort🤷♂️
I can't believe how little travel you ride on considering the way you ride! I think a proper trail bike would bliw you away... Something with 140-150mm front, 130-140mm rear
100mm is a cross country travel. But the bomber is not a cross country fork, she is made for ripping those trails. Just look at the stanchion bridge, it looks like the metallica M.
Ciao anche io ho provato le forcelle Marzocchi ma le trovo un pò legnose nel misto stretto...molto meglio la judy o comunque a livello di passo ti dico prova la Formula Selva S, gran forcella, ai livelli di DTSwiss
Tick you are an amazing rider and it was a great pleasure to get a chance to ride with you. Always great to see the WOLFTICK duo when we come up to Arkansas.

I love that you call it something different every time. Get off my hand gets me every time in the intro. HAHA
Glad to hear you enjoyed the Bomber Z2. I can't wait to see what it will do if you get the "mystery" adjustment in travel for it..

I don't think 100mm is enough travel for what your doing
Same I really think they should open it up and make it longer so they can directly compare to the 35 gold
140 or more unless you are someone who does not jump.
At least 130 or more
Oh this fork is insanely good thats why Fox did everything to buy this company
It's definitely 130-140mm trail for sure. 100mm is cross country material.
Nice review guys. I have the Rock Shox 35 Gold on my full squish Giant and its pretty awesome. I had been eyeing one of these for my son's bike.
The foam rings under the seals come dry on the bomber, if you give the foam rings an oil bath along with a couple volume spacers the bomber will be even smoother, keep shredding 🤙

Nice thing about Marzocchi is they are made by Fox and can be upgraded ie grip damper etc.
The Bomber Z2 shares the internals of the Fox 34 Rhythm , it is different than the other Fox 34 forks. The only similarities between the Rhythm/Z2 and the other Fox 34 forks are they are both 34 mm forks.
I’m running my Z2 at 140mm which is how it came in my Nukeproof Scout 290. And you’re right! This thing is buttery.
I've have been considering buying one of these forks, thanks for video!
Mad respect for those guys whom instead of hitting the gym, bought a bike and hit the trails .
Definitely air pressure and tokens to provide proper action at both ends. The compression knob is not used to limit travel, more adjust to terrain.

Everything I’ve heard from people that have ridden both are it’s not even close, the bomber shits all over the 35 gold.
@@throbbinwoodofcoxley6830 I've heard the same and was surprised they rated the 35 gold so high, that's why I'm thinking the 100mm of travel was holding back the forks score a little bit

Iowa guy here!! Love the Iowa Shirt!!! Great review
I'd definitely suggest adjusting the rebound to get the full feel of the fork based on your own riding style. I think for 100mm, it did fantastic.
I think the travel of the fork is longer because of the Volume Spacer you could add, to make the fork more progressive.
Yeah I was thinking add the progression to it just because it doesn't have much travel. Adding more travel probably starts totally messing with the Walmart bikes geometry which was probably intended for something closer to 80mm.
Volume spacers do not effect the length of travel. The air shafts themselves are a different length for each.
Man bro, i almost feel on my phone how smoothe that ride was. Imagine the feel of the fork on the bigs, with 140 or 160 mm travel.🤙👌
In socal, it's mar-zok-ee (hard "o").
It’s more mar-zoh-key, at least according to my Italian buddy.
As always, great video 🤙🏻
I have never had the Z2, i have rocked the Z1 plenty of times and i really like Bombers 100mm defo doesnt give this fork enough space to get its swole on 130mm and about they REALLY com to life. Awesome review though guys simply awesome
Might have to look at getting a bomber, always liked the look of them 👍🍻
That Margzarini fork is butter!
Great review. Have you downloaded the tuning manual from the website?
As already mentioned some commenters below - you have too short travel for such a ride. I think you should start from 120-130mm version for that kind of jumps. I have 130mm Z2 and it is quite good to ride :)
Great Vid thanks as always. I really like my Bombers, i would really like to see what you think about the change with volume spacers.
Did I hear that fork singing? She was like: llallaaalaaaaa, put me on 140mm llalalalaa😂
She is a thicc girl, you dont wanna ride her with a small 100mm stick, let her go wild😂
For 100mm I’m impressed….. I’d say realistically a 120-130mm travel would’ve been ideal for those trails but still did a great job
this is not the first time i’ve seen the z2 well reviewed. the markawezzeee!
You can tell how buttery that thing was going threw the vid, that pumps me up to go ride but I’m in bed and have to work in 5 hours 😢
Seems like you are at the limits of that fork. 130 on that bike sounds perfect.
Did you convert rear wheel from QR to Thru-Axle? On that mongoose?
Full squish in 27.5 are the best bikes ever built.
what wheel set are you running on the ledge now?
It's MARZOHKI
you don't get the munchies for Italian potato dumplings and, 'dang, I'm feeling some NOSHI right now'
Tick, here’s a pronunciation: Mar-zoh-key.
I was about to say the same but I thought of it as "Mars oh key"
Its an xc fork. 100mm of travel aint cut out for big jumps. Its gonna bottom out unless you wanna bump up tha air pressure like a dirtjumper set.up.
How are you liking the Ledge X1? Worth it?
cant you change travel to 140mm and test some jumps? its propably best fork what you test .
you can change the travel to 150 mm for around $80.00 for the air shaft, fork oil and lube, and about 30 minutes of your time .
What stem is that on the Mongoose?
hii, is this fork way better then the RS recon silver RL ? thnx in advance!
Love my Z3 80mm on my retro GT 26er. And, by the way, it's "Marzohkey" The O is long like OH not like AU, and the cchi is hard like CK.
Once I get to the higher end Fox and Rock Shocks stuff there just becomes a point where everything is pretty good and it sort of becomes personal preferences regarding brand. IMO. Maybe I just don't have enough experience with each to pick a favorite.
100mm of travel is good, but if you can swap the air shaft for the 120mm travel it can fell better.
How many tokens are in it Tick that you know of?
This 100mm fork is probably a perfect match for the ledge X1 because the rear travel suffers badly on the ledge X1 it only has like 2" travel not to good for a duel suspension bike.
the factory axles to crown is a 100mm 29er or a 120mm 27.5. this is under forked imo
I didn't know marzocchi made anything with less than 120mm of travel! Lol
Awesome fork, but I would still go for the Suntour 🤟
FOX 34 140 mm 29er is what I am rolling.
i love my rock shock 35 140mm travel not so much on the rear shock it's a float x 130mm i think.. 2022 stump jumper alloy.. gonna upgrade back shock and them stupid breaks
Install a volume spacer and this fork will be transformed on the bigs.
I run 62-65 psi in my Z2 but i also have 150mm of travel to use up.
Is it okay to use Z2 in cross country setup? I dont race xc but i love trails. Need some advice. Thanks
Better than* in the thumbnail
Wolftick Walmart has a 29 inch hyper, carbonix mountain bike
Skidding is so cool…nope no definitely not. If you’re going to skid, do it on asphalt or cement. Not the trails please. You guys rock
Someone's gotta explain to wolfman about lockouts😅. It's just low speed compression damping. I have a friend, it has a carbon next hyper, it is real carbon.
Marzocchi is owned by Fox I think. So there is providence with the firk
Is it better THAN not then. And the O is long like oh not like au
I can't believe how little travel you ride on considering the way you ride! I think a proper trail bike would bliw you away... Something with 140-150mm front, 130-140mm rear
The Patreon builds have bigger travel!!!
"Than". Better than.. not better then. Sorry, one of my pet peeves.
"the marcozzi" xD
🙏🏼
Mars-ah-cheese
Its a great fork but 100mm is practically nothing.
100mm is a cross country travel. But the bomber is not a cross country fork, she is made for ripping those trails. Just look at the stanchion bridge, it looks like the metallica M.
I wish I could just sit in the truck and grow an extra 5 mm
Ciao anche io ho provato le forcelle Marzocchi ma le trovo un pò legnose nel misto stretto...molto meglio la judy o comunque a livello di passo ti dico prova la Formula Selva S, gran forcella, ai livelli di DTSwiss
Mariachi
Not understanding the forks intended purpose or being able to exploit the forks intended purpose makes it completely impossible to rate.
Made by FOX ??
:-( . It's a jumping fork! Not a trail fork!
Mar-zo-key
Ha! First!
First?
I think your right!
its pronounced mar-zow-key
