    Hi! No, you don't bake it until its fixed to the bead base, or whatever else you use it for, it didnt distort in the video because its Cernit, Cernit holds its shape really well and remains firm... A little tip for you if you find your clay too soft when slicing - pop it in the fridge for 15 or 20 mins... Or if its too soft when you are rolling it out - roll it onto a sheet of paper and leave it for an hour, this will draw some of the plasticiser out and firm it up a bit for you :-)

    Can I ask what thickness they should be rolled to, I don't currently have a pasta machine as don't want to get one till I'm amlittle more experienced etc, and can I use anything knife like to cut them and a normal rolling pin, or does it need to be glass or acrylic? Thanks Clare x

    I think a cool idea would to make the waste ends into beads. Sell em or uses em as "wonkey buttons". Or maybe just slice the up and have the most wonkey in the center and place the others around it and then press it into maybe a bowl or something like that

    Thank you so much your clay canes are wonderful and easy to follow - but sorry, I'm new to making things with clay - so after making the bead and buttons, do they then have to be baked in an oven and for how long? Also, could I use airdry clay? Would be lovely if you would reply to me.

    Will this work with a longer size cane eg. walking stick?

    • @CrimsonNorway
      @CrimsonNorway 10 років тому

      You'd have to find an oven big enough for a walking stick... :P Also I don't think it would be wise making a walking stick out of polymer clay- it isn't the most resistant/strongest of materials so would be a poor choice of material for something that a person would be putting a fair bit of weight/pressure on :)

    • @KingPluto97
      @KingPluto97 10 років тому

      its for drama class

    • @CrimsonNorway
      @CrimsonNorway 10 років тому

      Well you'd still have to find an oven big enough and it would still break incredibly easily... not to mention the whole point of a cane is for the pattern in the cross-section (which you can only see at the ends, which would both be hidden)

      You could use this technique with eraser clay, yes, but I'm pretty sure the clay she is using is regular oven bake polymer clay (I assume made by Cernit, seeing as she plugged them at the beginning).
