hey sorry i'm really late to the party for this video but i had a question about using canes to make spherical beads. I've tried just slicing the cane and shaping the "cookie" into a ball but there's no way to avoid deformation. should I get a cookie cutter the diameter of bead that i want, roll the cane to the same diameter and just take vertical cylinders out of the cane?
I just read through the comments and many of them are rude and hurtful. Why on earth did those people feel the need to insult this lovely lady who was kind enough to share her tutorial? Shame on them.
Ronalyn Hurley because people have no respect. They don't realize it takes less energy to be nice and say positive things. Rather than bash other people and bring all that negative energy on themselves. They are just unhappy people.
Thank you for saying what a lot of us are feeling. I think the great majority of rude comments seem to belong to young people.{ sorry to say} As you become more wiser and mature you can see how awful you come across to others { I pray} and feel foolish and sorry for being so selfish and bratty. Only time will tell.
because of your simple yet beautiful showmanship and handy helping tips, this is one of the VERY best cane making tutorial I've yet to watch! thank you so much!
I ran across your channel and love it! Thank you so much for being so thoughtful and helpful to a beginner. I’m a metal smith who is looking to expand my options for different types of cabachons to set in silver and copper. Thank you so much! 👏🏻♥️
If you're making a large piece -- like a candle holder or a small vase, for instance -- you can cut very thin slices and lay them out randomly (or in a pattern) on a plain polymer clay background and roll them into that background. In fact, you can use different sizes, too, to add another point of interest to it.
Oh my goodness!! Thank you! I’ve watched others make cane flowers and it always seemed so intricate and difficult! You did this so easily! I can do this!! Thank you!!
Only 7 years later, but I'm just learning how to make this! I wanted to add some in a mosaic I'm making. Thank you so much for your clear and concise instructions! Easily, the best video I've seen! You do such an amazing job! It's Christmas Eve now, and I'm ready for Christmas! Happy Holidays to you and yours! Much love!❤️
I always wondered how they little color got in the petal, and wow on the shrinking of the flower! Just squish in and roll it long! It's like magic, super cool! Thanks for the detailed crafting tips 🤗❤️👍🏾💯
First love your accent, I’m in Texas, absolutely love the video! I’m brand new to this art. T facinates me the creativity of young women as yourself. I’m a great-grandma ready to learn. Thankyou God bless Darlene
Hi, to keep the clay clean its important to keep your hands clean.... We use baby wipes to clean before use and when we change colour.... To avoid fingerprints keep your clay firm - Cernit polymer clay is good for this but fingerprints are unavoidable sometimes.... When baked give your piece a light sanding with wet n dry fine grade sandpaper, this will remove fingerprints and help polishing too!
I happen to think your voice is nice. you do beautiful work. keep it up. thank you for sharing your knowledge. Unfortunately there are people out there that have nothing better to than insult other people. If that haven't learned already what you put out comes back to you. being rude and unkind will will find a place in their life. Pay no attention to the rudeness. your an awesome clay artist.
I'm so excited!!!!!! I just followed Karen in the tutorial and made my very first cane!!!! Thanks Karen, I love to watch you and you are so good at teaching.
First I want to thank you for your time, I was looking for a video that explain the canes more clear, and you do an excellent job! Thank you a million time!
I can't wait to try this! I'm working with polymer clay for the first time, and decided to take on a large project for a beginner... But, that's me, I never go into anything easy...lol! This tutorial is a great help. Thank you! :)
Totally awesome! 🤩🤩😁Very nice, clear instructions! I've been holding onto a gift of polymer clay ,afraid to mess it up. Now I'm feeling like I can try this ! Thank you!
i live in wales and i havent come across this clay but im hoping it will be easier to get a hold of as fimo and sculpy aren't readily available in my area, also the tutorial was extremly helpful thnx xox
i love the way you had your face in the corner so people that can not hear any thing can unstand want you are doing and how to do it, so a big thumbs up from me. and by the way you did a good gob on the flowers you made. :)
Thank you very much for the very instructional and inspirational video! I've watched a few different cane example videos here on UA-cam but this is first one that really explained the procedure thoroughly enough for me to understand the process. I'd also like to compliment you on your camera presence, you seem very at ease in front of the TWO cameras. And by the way, this is the first time that I've seen two cameras employed here on UA-cam in a tutorial so kudos for that! You seem like a very multi-talented individual and I hope that you keep on making these videos and sharing your talent with the world! Best wishes from Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA.
wow. thats amazing. im just getting into polymer. that looks so hardcore and time consuming. really pretty though. id buy just the canes to chop myself.
That is so adorable and live how it's simple- looking to either put a bunch of little ones on one bead, or keep karge- great for that thank you; i also love how you have many variations to spark my inspiration- the pendants i made once are blended- so i will try blended petals (if i can figure it out lol)
this video is amazing! I'd always wondered how smaller clay canes were made. I had no idea that it was as simple as manually reducing the size of a larger clay cane.
I love polymer clay I have a huge box of it at my house, I always watch tutorials. And this is the best one out of all of them, good work! And keep it up, I love it.
I've seen dozens of videos about polymer clay, in 4 languages, and it's the first time somebody explains why there shouldn't be any air bubbles in the cane! Now I understand why my canes or sausages etc break sometimes! THANK YOU!
Thank you I loved watching this video, very professional and comprehensive. I have subscribed so my daughter can (aged 11 years) can keep up to date with your tutorials.
You did an incredible job!! I can't believe the pettiness of some of the comments though. It's pretty evident that you realized you had six rolls -- or as you called them "sausages" (too cute!) .. so you set one aside to make five. And yet 'craftyangie vega' spews out "I think you need to learn to count first". Give me a break notsoCraftyAngie Vega. In any event, your work is AWESOME. Thank you so much for sharing the video with us!! :0)
going to be new to polymer clay and your video was so informative it was nicely done. your work is beautiful just as you are and your voice you sound so nice and calming like a teacher. my voice is raspy for a girl and I don't like it. I would love to see more videos from you as a lot of people on here said as well. and like a lot have mentioned ppl are rude it's the internet.. if you didn't show your face to or have a steady camera or didn't explain things as good as you did they would of all complained about that.. they had nothing left to say.. if people want to see the tutorial they won't be bothered by a voice or sweater or whatever. please continue making more.. god bless and thankyou
Thank you for sharing. I just found this video😍 This is a great reminder of how to make these canes. I took a class several years ago and I had forgotten all about working with polymer clay. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Thank you for an easy to follow tutorial! Do you have to make your petals that large or can you start smaller if you're making beads? I've never tried before, but learning from your video is making me excited🧡💛💚💙💜
Amazing video!! To the point easy to understand and replicate and Mysun my son LOVES your accent! He is distance learning an you were part of his art class today. Now to go try...Thanks and subscribed.
This is a lovely video. Easy to follow. I’ve heard of Cirnet polymer clay; I’ve heard it’s better than Sculpey? However, it’s not as easy to get in US. I’m newer to this art medium. Trying to learn everything I can.
Perfect instructions, thanks! One question: how long in advance can I make the canes for use in a class with seniors? Can I cut the beads 24 hours in advance? Or is it necessary to cut the roll on the spot as needed for making beads ?
Thank you so very much for the great video. I've always wanted to make these & now I know how. You did a great job!! That was so cool seeing that you could keep rolling it & it kept it shape. 🌸One question, you said be sure to condition your clay. What does that mean?
Hi all! Brand new video up on the channel, more to come soon, please go check it out! - Karen
I will definitely be checking that out👍
Thanks for the thorough instructions!!!! So very helpful😉😁👍
This was super helpful!

Ronalyn Hurley I know right?!
Ronalyn Hurley because people have no respect. They don't realize it takes less energy to be nice and say positive things. Rather than bash other people and bring all that negative energy on themselves. They are just unhappy people.

Aztec Girl s
I've watched many tutorials and none as charming and knowledgeable as yours. I like the Toblerone reference.

Great video!!!! Before, i was watching videos where people had all of these canes, but now i understand how to do it! Thanks!
Referring to the rolls as sausages is the most Britain thing I’ve heard. I love it!
I thought so too! Loved the way she says "air bubbles". Too cute!
