One thing though, please stop standing on the top of those ladders! I see you have many sizes so please use the right one for each situation. A friend cause major brain injury because the ladder went out from under him. We need you safe to make more videos and your sweetheart needs a intact man around. Oh by the way. • @MT_Homes

      Not sure if you saw my reply on your other comment but I would look for a metal supplier in your area. Most are locally owned. Basically a company that buys the metal in large rolls of flat coil and runs it through a machine to make custom length ribbed sheets and trim like I used.

    I noticed you used screws when building the floor, but used nails when building the walls. Is there an advantage of one over the other? When is it best to use either screws or nails?

    • @MT_Homes
      @MT_Homes  4 роки тому

      Screws are always better, but more expensive and time consuming. I always use screws in treated wood which is what the flooring structure is made of. Makes for a more solid floor and won’t rust like regular nails will. A cheaper option would’ve been to use galvanized nails of course.

    • @CraigSmith568
      @CraigSmith568 4 роки тому +2

      @@MT_Homes Thanks for the reply. I like screws too and I don't mind paying the extra money for them. Still planning on a building, but I have a tendency to over analyze things. At a certain point I need to just do it.

      What about hot dipped galvanized ring shank nails? I've got a 1,000 pack for my framing nailer and would like to use what I have on hand if possible. Think they will be sufficient?

    • @MT_Homes
      @MT_Homes  2 роки тому

      Yes. They would be sufficient. Being ringshanked and galvanized, that would be the next best thing to using deck screws.

    • @MT_Homes
      @MT_Homes  4 роки тому +1

      Metal is designed to be fastened to something perpendicular to the ribs. Since the ribs and the studs are both upright I needed Purlin cross members to fasten the metal to. 1/2” OSB would work as well.
