As a veteran teacher I really appreciate all the tips and tricks I've picked up from you. You are bringing renewed excitement back into career. Thank you for that!
Aww, thank you so much Lisa! That's so sweet of you and I'm beyond thrilled to hear that you're able to learn some new things even as a veteran teacher! Thank you for watching and commenting! 🥰🖤
As a new teacher, I really appreciate your videos. I'm working as an ESL teacher and while it's been really fun, it can also be really challenging. With your tips and tricks I was able to correctly and quickly plan my lessons while keeping it stress-free! THANK YOU.
I love it! I've been teaching for over 20 years, but things were getting cluttered. I've watched this video 4 times and I get something more out of it every time! Thanks for sharing!
I never considered a lesson unit template, BUT I just recently created a template for my daily lessons, and my today Lupita is REALLY grateful to my 2 or 3 months ago Lupita for having done so. Unit templates might be a summer project. 🤔
YES! I swear creating templates for those things that you create again and again is one of the BEST things you can do! I'm so happy to hear that your future self was able to benefit from your choice 🥰
THANK YOU for sharing this resource! I've always had materials stored digitally in my google drive but this is such a good way to see everything visually all at once!
This came just in time! I am an aspiring teacher/elementary education major in my last year. I was starting to get overwhelmed thinking about how I can organize all of the digital files related to specific plans in my future classroom. Thank you for this, well-organized resource and explanation!
I love how versatile all of your templates are. As a middle school French teacher, I can definitely see myself using this and I will be grabbing it today! The World Language Standards are being revised in my state and implemented in the Fall of 2023. This template will be PERFECT to plan those units with the new themes/standards. You just made my life so much easier! I purchased your label templates from your TPT store and use them all the time to organize my bins in my classroom! Best $5 I have spent. Even though you taught elementary school, I want you to know that your tips, tricks and hacks work for any subject or level. I have learned so much from your channel and I have evolved as a teacher since I discovered you in 2020 (You saved me during the lockdown and virtual teaching). I also LOVE that hack for inserting chips. I never knew this before. Thank you again for another great video! I can't wait until next week!
Awww, yay! I'm so happy you're able to (hopefully) use the template even as a middle school French teacher! That's AWESOME! Also, that's definitely perfect timing with your standards being revised and implemented at the start of next school year. That's so great to hear as well! First of all, go you for getting all your labeling done... doesn't it feel good?! Second, I LOVE hearing that my resources are able to be used across different grade levels and subject areas! It makes my teacher heart so happy! Thank you as ALWAYS for all your amazing support and for commenting on every video! You are a true gem! 🥰🖤🎉
Hi, Michelle! I feel like your video proves that anxiety levels related to lesson planning decrease when we prepare using a template that can be reused and tweaked every year based on specific needs of students. As educators, sometimes we feel we need to reinvent the wheel due to pressures from the district or keeping up with the illusion that being busy means being effective. Using a template is definitely a way to work smarter, not harder. I think it is also a beneficial way to model efficient use of time for our students. We give them graphic organizers, charts, templates, etc. to give them a guideline to start working and to complete assignments in a timely manner. Thank you, as always, for continuing to encourage and inspire educators to be their best personal self and professional self. Have an amazing weekend! 💜
YES! You are so right Mandy... teachers definitely feel the pressure to constantly reinvent the wheel and I think you're onto something about busy being seen as effective 😉 Also, you're so right that it's a great way to model this skill for students! We sometimes forget to apply these strategies to our own lives and practices even though we do it so effortlessly with our students. Thank you as ALWAYS for all your support and for commenting on every video... I need to give you an award or something! MVV... most valuable viewer! 😂🥰🖤
Michelle, this is sooooo awesome! Thank you for putting this together. 18 years of teaching and this is one of the very best “teacher treasures” I’ve ever seen. It’s all together in one place. 🙌🏻 You’re awesome! Keep the helpful videos coming.
Thank you for posting this video! I just downloaded this file today and I am planning for a new unit, and this has helped me so much! Thank you for this, and all of your content is great! Have a great rest of your week!
Aww, that's such perfect timing and I'm happy you found it helpful! Thank you for watching and commenting Silas and have a great rest of your week as well! 🥰
I looooove your lesson plan template. I sent my student teacher to get a copy and showed her how to write a good plan. My mentee even loves your template!
Aww, thank you so much! I'm so happy you love it and were able to use it to help your student teacher and mentee... that's amazing! Thank you for all your support as always! 🥰🖤
Thank you! This sparked an idea for me. I love helping people find resources in my school. Our materials are all given to us but are not always easy to locate. I'm thinking I'll create a one pager of links to each of the resources and curriculum that we use and share the link out for all of the newer teachers.
Aww, thank you so much for watching and commenting Alexandra! 🥰 I'm so happy you were able to get some ideas for this video to help within your school... that's perfect and I'm sure the teachers will love it!
Oh I am so glad to see a teaching video from you again!! This old teacher picked up a few tricks. I am definitely stealing the horse and fly idea. I’m also sending this to my daughter because if I were to be starting again, I would use this template to grow my lessons! Thank you so much!!
Thank you for watching Wendy! I'm happy you were able to get some new ideas and I appreciate you sharing the video with your daughter! Thanks for watching and commenting! 🥰
I gained so much from this. You had the neatest links in your materials. I’d love to see more of your online resources you use in your lessons and I’d love to see you model some of your lessons. Thanks for sharing so much already!
Awesome! This even works for an entire week of Kindergarten, with expansions and resources below! I love keeping it all together. *** Do you also keep the list of standards in the same file?
my problem is I see so many ideas it’s hard for me to just pick one and go with it. so I do exactly what you say. I look for ideas online and then I end up going down a rabbit hole and I don’t get anything done. I get into that thing called “analysis paralysis”
Hi Michelle, thanks for sharing this video and template. As a first year teacher this is really useful, however, I find it so hard to come up with activities and ways to practice. I try to plan a week in advance but so far I've been basically planning each day from scratch the night before. I take forever to find stuff online and sometimes I just end up making my own resources. I would love to be able to plan a unit knowing I have all the tools in my tool box to pull from. One day I'll get there
Thanks so much for this video!! We have been asked to submit lesson plans, materials, and videos for specific standards and this template will be a wonderful way to organize all of that information. I have absolutely loved your teaching tips through the years, but this video may just be my favorite!
I'm so happy you were able to use the information even though you don't teach in the US (and teach high school). Thanks for watching and commenting Alejandra! 🥰
Michelle, you always offer something new when it comes to tech! Curious...do the chips work for people you share docs with if you are working in a planning team? We are writing expanded curriculum guides for our district right now and I would want anyone to be able to open them.
Thank you so much and that's a great question! The sharing settings for any files you add in as a chip are preserved. This means if the file you create a chip for is set to "anyone with the link can view", then anyone who accesses it through the chip will be able to view it. But, if the file you create a chip for doesn't allow access, then anyone who tries to access it through the chip won't be able to. Hopefully that makes sense!
This is a great template and lots of good tips in here! I'm currently fixated on the fact that mass and weight are being taught as the same thing though - yikesssss no wonder students get to me in middle school thinking that. Mass and Weight are TOTALLY different (mass is the amount of matter in an object; weight is the force of gravity on the object's mass).
Thank you Sarah! Just to clarify... it's not that they are taught as the same, it's just that the fourth grade standard doesn't specify that you have to teach the difference. It's a little bit challenging for fourth graders to understand the difference and for the sake of the math skill, time isn't spent on differentiating between the two since that's more of a science standard. Hopefully that makes sense!
Hey Michelle! Great video as usual!! You mentioned something about vocabulary cards. Do you have any that you have created from years past? Do you plan to make some? I would love to see your version of vocabulary cards, especially for math.
Hi Michelle, I love the “chip” connector with @! Can you cover how to access the file if it’s in a folder? I hope it will do that… I’m going to try using “>” and “/“ .
I don't plan to show examples for each subject because the steps are the same but hopefully you can adapt the ideas in this video to fit what you need!
Hi Frances! Most of the PD I do is for specific schools and districts so the sessions aren't open to the public. But, I will be presenting several sessions at MACUL in Detroit in March!
Hi, thank you for all the great videos! I was watching your video about Summer Ideas and really liked your Unit Overview Template. I signed up with my name and email address but still don't have access to it, not sure how that will happen. Please tell me if I am missing a step. De ante mano, muchas gracias.

I've been searching for what you referred to: objectives based on the standards...I cannot find this. How do I find resources that break down possible objectives? Maybe I'm not searching correctly? I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if that information is out there somewhere. Thank you.
