    I was at this concert and am still equally moved by watching the video many years later. A moving iconic political and human story of the truly important moments that helped shape Australia. Artists, activists and politicians coming together. There is hope yet!

      Gough stole wages from Aboriginal Protection Board to start DoCS, on one hand passing soil through the hand, on another taking those funds to prop up the welfare state

    What an amazing group of people on that stage with Kev, I wish I could have had the talent to be one of them....the symbol of that handful of dirt is not to be overlooked. I cannot believe that this has only been viewed 98,000 times....it should be our National Anthem !!

    This is just stunning, what a story in a beautiful song, what a powerful symbol of passing a handful of dirt. Just awful and heartfelt in equal measure. What a way to wrap up a show.

    Huge part of the Australian story this. Native Title was the means to redress some of the inequity from the invasion - a compromise for sure. Maybe one day Treaty Day will replace Australia Day and true reconciliation can begin.

    • @TheJimmybob78
      @TheJimmybob78 10 років тому +1

      Don't confuse yourself with the significance of Australia day and a treaty day. Both are important to a lot of Australians in different ways, to replace one with the other only serves to separate and divide Aussies even more. When people are divided the people dont win.

    • @kennethkelly6887
      @kennethkelly6887 6 років тому +1

      Australia Day is significant but only to people who come here from other countries. Change the date so it includes all of us. As a Noongar man I say if you want to celebrate that date that is up to you and I respect that as that date is important to people who descend from other nations. Australia Day should included everyone and represent the coming together and reconcilitation of our past, celebration of the present and the direction of acceptance.

    Does someone know when this was recorded? I like that Carmody changed the second last verse to mention Whitlam specifically as some people are unfamiliar with the story, but is there some reason that the verse was changed? A Whitlam event of some kind? Anniversary? Too early for a memorial service.

    Australia was stolen from the Orginal Peoples of this land. The Crown of England planted their flag here and called Australia "TERRA NULLIUS". Terra Nullius means there were no inhabitants living in Australia! Even though at the time of British settlement there were at least 350 Murray tribes living on their own tribal lands across Australia. Then the Great British Imperial Regime started genocide against all native people. Shot and killed them, poisoned their waterholes, raped their woman and children, took the children away, massacred the Murray tribal leaders everywhere - and still "the stolen generation" is happening. This genocide is ongoing too - 27 Original Murray people have died of the C19vaxx in the Northern Territory where they have been forced to be jabberooed. In the last two months. How many Murray murders and deaths are we never hearing about? The MSM is still covering the genocide up. Change is ESSENTIAL.
    Well done Kev Carmody. You are truly amazing and such a great artist, thank you for your commitment to your people.
