- "Never Enough: Donald Trump and the Pursuit of Success" author Michael D'Antonio came by earlier this year to talk about Fred Trump Jr. After winning the New Hampshire primary, Donald Trump thanked his late brother Fred. According to D'Antonio, Fred didn’t care for the family business and followed his own path. Fred Jr. would eventually pass away from complications related to alcoholism. Years later, a legal battle ensued between Fred Jr.’s son and the Trump estate.

Donald and Fred Sr. actually belittled Fred Jr. They did not even come to visit him when he was dying. Donald went instead to see a movie.
How can you bastardize such a pure story? Fred was deeply admired. Brothers say tough things. Especially, when they're close. Donald loved Fred.
I know this is an old thread. But Donald and his other siblings had Fred Jr cut out of the will and when the family sued him, he cut off promised medical care for his sick nephew. Donnie is not a nice man.

Of course he mourns his brother. My brother still makes fun of me like we are preteens. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him and he feels the same. I couldn’t work with him. That doesn’t mean I don’t love and respect him. People are crazy.

What a terrible mischaracterisation of Donald's relationship with his brother. You should be ashamed of accusing him like this. Donald only ever spoke good about his late brother, and the lesson he took from him is LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE. Don't drink alcohol, smoke or do drugs - sadly Fred did and ended up dying young.

So many lies... If you read at least one of Donald's book, you'd know that he loved his brother Fred Jr dearly. Yes he also mentioned that he thinks that "pilots are air bus drivers" but that was clearly a mock of his brother.
I have a little brother who is competitive and ambitious, however I see it as being something good, even when he's mocking me. It demonstrates that he's gonna be a healthy and independent person! This is the same way Fred Jr looked at Donald.

No one in the Trump family went to see Freddy, to be with him, or to sit by his bedside. Instead, they just waited for the phone call from the hospital staff to say he was dead. WTH!! Who does that? This is a nasty hit job from a guy who never knew the Trumps. Donald was 8 years younger than Fred Jr. and Fred died at age 42, which means Donald was 34. He loved his brother. His brother told him that if he started to smoke, drink and take drugs he would kill him. Donald never smoked, drank or took drugs. End of Story. Fred was an alcoholic and a drug addict. Those two things combined are very hard to overcome, especially if one isn't getting professional and good help. It's also a spiritual battle from within your soul. If you don't improve you spiritual relationship with God, you won't get better.

From what i could find out about Donald's brother online was the fact that all the references to Fred being an alcoholic originated with Donald. People who worked with Fred said he never drank. I for one would like to know what Fred really died from because he was the heir to the Trump fortune.
