      I think it’s a bit simplistic to be honest. Look I get where he’s coming from and I actually think he’s being quite genuine for once. But this supposes that anyone who ever drinks is on a pathway to having a drink problem. Plus hang on? He owns a winery and a vineyard on the east coast

    • @ShaferHart
      @ShaferHart 5 років тому +8

      @@davidfoxall3344 I guess your brain just couldn't compute empathizing with Trump so you just _had_ to be so nitpicky lol. Wonder why you would come back to this unpopular (ie not trending) video, years after the fact, just to post this... Anyways, it's an event about opioid addiction and he is using his brother's example to illustrate the point. At the end of the speech he just says "don't do drugs", old advice that people usually take to mean don't to take hard drugs. Nothing alcohol specific in that advice.

    • @davidfoxall3344
      @davidfoxall3344 5 років тому +3

      Shafer Hart - “I get where he’s coming from and I think he’s being quite genuine for once”. No empathy there whatsoever. My point is considering he owns a business based on selling alcohol it’s quite simplistic for him to take this absolutist view towards alcohol. I have no doubt that his own abstinence from drink is a result of watching what it did to his brother I just don’t particularly agree with his message on the subject even though as I’ve stated I do get why he feels the way he does.

    • @davidfoxall3344
      @davidfoxall3344 5 років тому +4

      The difference in terms of addiction and effects from alcohol to other narcotics is probably not as large as you think. Alcohol is just a legal drug at the end of the day.....and either you ban alcohol like in prohibition times or you perhaps realise that the say no to drugs message is a bit confused (and that’s not particular to Trump, it’s every politician and there are numerous ones who have ever pushed this message)

      Trump had a family fortune in the millions that was split up with his siblings including his deceased brother's family after his father's passing. Trump took his share and became a billionaire expanding the family real estate brand - he even helped Fred's family but they got jealous of his success and tried to sue him for cut in his real estate empire and he was having none of it. Much worse happens in families that are not in the 1% class.

      You want your brothers to pimp out your memory? That is what Trump is doing to his brother.
      I also have siblings and friends who went through some difficult things. I *could* make myself sound more interesting by sharing *their* struggles with others, but, if you actually care about someone, you instinctively avoid this or are very careful with how you share these things. All Fred is to Donald is "my alcoholic older brother." Everything else he says about Fred is vague as all get out ("best looking guy") and is only said to meet the minimum that is socially expected.
      Much better for you to just quit, adjust to life without alcohol (it'll happen naturally over time), don't make a big deal out of it, and don't associate with people who want to dramatize it. Definitely don't record your "sobriety date." Dramatizing it like this will only solidify your identity as "an alcoholic" or "in recovery." It'll also create a dynamic in which any relapse can demoralize you because "I lost all my clean time." (If you drank last week but abstained for 6 months before that, you are still *much* better off that you were 6 months ago.)

      There is no compassionate side to Trump. He has zero empathy. He is a narcissist. This brother he is talking about is the same one he took advantage of to weasel him out of inheritance as well as gain a favoured position in the family business and thereby gain more wealth. This whole narrative of caring about his brother is totally false. Read Mary Trumps book.Everything he does is part of a carefully crafted act to fool people like you into putting their misguided faith in him so that he can ultimately destroy the checks and balances in American democracy and take away the rights and freedoms it provides for the sake of acquiring more power to secure himself more wealth.

    I had a brother Fred, great guy, best looking guy, best personalityーmuch better than mine. But he had a problem. He had a problem with alcohol, and he would tell me, "Don't drink. Don't drink".
    He was substantially older and I listened to him and I respected, but he would constantly tell me "Don't drink", he would also add "Don't smoke". He would say it over and over and over again.
    And to this day I have never had drink, and I have no longing for it, I have no interested in it. To this day I have never had a cigarette. Don't worry those are only two of my good things. I don't wanna tell you about bad things, there's plenty of bad things too.
    But he really helped me, I had somebody that guided me, and he had a very, very, tough life because of alcohol. Believe me. Very very tough tough life. He was a strong guy but it was a tough, tough thing that he was going through.
    But I learned because of Fred, I learned. And that's what I think is so important. This was an idea that I had, where if we can teach young people not to take drugs. Just not to take them!
    When I see friends of mine that are having difficulty with not having that drink at dinner, where it's literally almost impossible for them to stop. I say to myselfーI can't even understand itーwhy would that be difficult? But we understand why it's difficult.
    The fact is, if we can teach young people and people generally not to start, It's really, really easy to not take them. And I think that's going to end up being our most important thing. Really tough, really big, really great advertising. So we get to people before they start, so they don't go through the problems of what people are going through.

    The Gospel of salvation: 💜💕💜💖💞💜💕For what I received I passed on to you as of [first importance]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time,

    I just can’t understand why young people start drinking and smoking at all since they have a lot of information and can see all the damage it does but as long as these products are made available: people will use them.

      Ya, they live for the moment, not think long term. If you ask a 60 year old, what he would differentiate if he were young again? They would say, saved more money💴, never started drinking🍺, never started using drugs🌿 & never started smoking cigarettes🚬. It's not like they never did these things & wish they started earlier like everyone else did. Kids do yourself a big favor & never start these bad habits, your body & bank account will thank you when you reach retirement age👍

Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life.
