its seems everyone is using the 7.0.1 and working well. I just found out about this now. So thank you for the Video. Yes I see more games now switching to Linux. I have never played Apex but i now have the opportunity to do so. Next video I need to learn how to play. "and aim"
Every time there has been big improvement in Linux gaming, you will always see people say they would switch to Linux full time, but *this* or *that* game doesn't work. If we can bag a few more major AAA titles there is no excuse for these people to stay on Windows. I personally have all the games and apps I want to play on Linux. But there is always room for improvement and yes I want to see devs targeting Vulkan over DX12.
every time a new wave of people claim they moved to Linux after the gaming for linux hype surge more people moved back to Windows lol also nowadays genuine Windows 10 or 11 is basically free
Awesome video man :) Apex Legends was unironically the only thing keeping me using Windows, there is no other software which I require now, it's annoying because I switched back to Windows 10 after trying to get VFIO GPU passthrough just a day before the news came out about Apex running on Proton now. Typical huh :D I left a like and subscribed, keep up the good videos
One thing that may be useful for your future videos is to tag versions and OS used for the review/recording in the description. It will help put into perspective where/when it worked if issues arise in the future. I'm sure someone will come across this video in 6 months or a year and it may work better on another distribution or SteamOS 3.0 is released for multiple platforms.
Yeah, I've never played Apex before making this video. I made the video just to spread the word that this popular game is now playable, and then I uninstalled it because BR games are not my thing.
I doubt it's going to create some huge player surge like you're talking about. Even for me, someone who considers Apex support on Linux huge, and probably would've had it as a deciding decision to use Linux a year ago, I decided to install Linux before the support came out. I really think only a handful of people are going to see Apex as the deciding factor. However, I think it's a huge step forward in showing what Linux is capable of with minimal developer effort, and I hope other games follow suit. What would make game developers really invest more time is not more people coming to Linux, but an increased player count in their games from Linux desktops. If Linux can capture even 5% of the game's PC market, it will show that Linux is a serious market that's worth investment.
The only games i buy are the ones that run on linux. I bet there's many more people that do the same, but if people buy windows games and play it over proton, how would the seller know which platform to target? It sounds like they would appear to be selling them for windows users, when they were in fact linux users with proton.
Don't mean to start an argument here, but do we really need more native games rather than proton compatible ones? As native games can be hard on the developers for maintaining the game in the long run ( We know what happened to Rocket League), I think proton games are a good direction for the future of linux gaming right ? This ofcourse is based on me experiencing better performance on proton as compared to native, what do you think ?
I don't have Elden Ring(too poor to buy it lol), but from what I've seen, Valve are officially supporting it, and it's a steam deck verified game, so it should be safe.
@@TheTonyfenomeno Valve has support for Elden Ring EAC in Proton Experimental Bleeding edge, and a large number of people have reported that it works great.
I tried it on my Asus ROG with RX6800M, and there is massive difference, Lag, Ping is one thing, but it is like 80 - 100 FPS better than Windows, I did not expect that, I get Maximum FPS in Apex on Full HD 🤣🤣🤣😂 something that I wasn't able to achieve on my Desktop PC with Windows.
You need to use Proton Experimental(bleeding edge) to run this game.

this is awesome (even if apex will always be titanfall-lite to me) and a massive deal for bringing linux to the mainstream.
titanfall 2 has been working on linux since the steam release back in like march 2020
Finally now i can tweak/build my android roms while at the same time play my fav game with my friends
Cant express how HAPPY I AM

unfortunately bungee won't support linux :( hopefully enough people jump ship so that bungee is forced to change their mind.

Valve has a way to keep track of these things.

Thank you ;)

@@doompenguin7453 I see...
Has Valve officialy pronounced now? Because it is deck verified from launch but it gave EAC error in first days

Its amazing news this will only make linux gaming more popular
this is game changer for most people
i don't think valorant will be playable on linux anytime soon due to its anticheat having rootkit-like behavior.
how i install it ?
How to install ?
Huh? Just go to steam and install the game like every other steam game.
Commenting for algo :)
Im Sorry to crush your dreams, but remember how many studios Microsoft owns now?

If you want it to be even better, just use Proton GE and add the steam launch command DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%.
Why do you play on linux?
End to dual booot, atleast for me
i still hate games use eac
they piss me off
