I'm also praying I make it, my dream is to start the company this year, I've been saving money and I hope it all works out in the end, I'm obsessed with house flipping and I'm glad theres a south African who can show me how to do it because i love watching HGTV but property that side is totally different to property in mzansi
Great content Steve, this deserves to be on mainstream TV. American content is great too, but offers very little relevance to the South African market. So Flipping Johannesburg SHOULD BE ON TV. We need it.
The chimney will be my main concern, it makes the house look dirty. To lengthen the outlet with a modern stainless steel pipe would have been a beautiful feature
Man great job on the renovation, I live in Paris France and I cannot believe how large a house you can get for €200k in Johannesburg... Over here you would get like a 9 meters square apartment for that price, I'm not even kidding...
With auction fee n transfer n finance cost it actually costed 115 000 euro. This house sold for 3mil rand which means the area is an upmarket area. South area of jhb u can pay much less n get 2000m2
@@Sam-fy6gu no 200,000 Euros you can build something nicer in an upmarket area or gated community in Swaziland because there's always land available in this country mainly because non Swazi are not allowed to own property unless through a company so as to control the property prices. Properties are also quite affordable because 70% of the population builds homes in their ancestral villages which are quite developed with very little difference to major cities. And lastly prices are low because we don't have property taxes and mortgage loans are not really hard to get as long as you earn a good salary above R15,000
It’s really crazy to hear the issues you’re dealing with in South Africa. “The tenants won’t move out or pay rent and there isn’t much I can do.” Also, the irrigation issue, I remember in another video you were showing a sewage pipe from a toilet that was intentionally incomplete to create more plumbing work in the future.
Work like this ensure that our areas remain urban, accessible and attractive. I wish municipalities could grant some benefits for developers to do more work like this... it has a knock-on effect
The house looks grand and modern. It's funny how the previous owners were so bitter in the renovation process, kudos to you for standing your ground. You honestly inspire me so much. Hopefully my content will do great like yours.
What a pity the tenants wouldn't let you film and held you back like that. I am excited for the next one and hoping there's more filming of the whole process.
Stunning work Steve!! Proud of you! I'm baffled by how some people can live in certain conditions. I'm sure you could write a book about what you've seen in your projects! To more profit and more content!
I dont know how you did it with those rather self entitled tenants. Talk about taking advantage. Despite that, you did a splendid job. The house looks beautiful and your staging team are real professionals, always on point. Waiting for the next flip…….🤩
I've only ever bought 2 house's with an existing lease that needed to be broken. Both time's we offered the Tenants 2 Month's rent in cash if they moved out before a certain date. They don't sound like reasonable people and I know you're a very sharp guy so you may have tried this already, but on the off chance you didn't it was effective both times for me. Between both properties I paid $11k AUD, but the tenants went from "Yeah I'm staying here for another 6 months", to "I'm moving out next week, I found a place". Love the videos as always, good job on a very challenging project!
Your projects are spectacular! Just finished watching all your content on here and I must say we need more of them please👏🏼 they are just so soothing! Keep it up!
Well frigging done, boet!!! I must admit, before coming across your channel, I had given up my dream of getting into the property game. Your videos (and your professionalism) has reignited the flame within me to do this. MANY thanks for the content, your insight, and just being AWESOME at what you do. I wish you all the best for future projects. (And, hopefully, we may get to work on a major project together in the future.)
I love what you did with the property. You using the materials you could to save on costs and reduce waste. The property has a really good layout. I love what you did with it. I apologize for the difficult people you had to work with, they really extended the duration of the project
Thankfully you were able to get rid of those feral tenants. What a nightmare dealing with them. Congratulations on this latest project. It came up a treat! It must have been ultra modern when first constructed. The only thing I didn't like was the colour of the brick. I would render some walls to tone it down a little if I could afford to. Can't wait for your next adventure!
Wow 😯 Steve 1M! Well done man, you are seriously inspiring. There is special attention with the details with all your work. I’d really love to work with you in the near future…
Amazing price you got the house for, must have been quite a bidding war. Very clever idea of painting the existing windows and door frames charcoal, i have never seen it done before and think it makes a big difference.
Excellent Video. Ive been waiting on Project O.. And out of nowhere came Project G. Sorry that you had to deal with those tenants. I imagine that it must be very frustrating after investing so much time and money into the project and then they messed you around. Its amazing what you finally achieved. I am excited and waiting for the Project O video. Keep up the great work.
I’m 20, harried in student debt but I’ve been wanting to get into property, been following you and other similar channels. Highly inspired. Just hope I am able to get the financing I need.
My suggestion would be to start small and do most of the work yourself to save money. Once you sell that house, you can use the profit on the next and eventually employ others.
I like your channel. You do little of talking and main focus is showing us the house while u're talking. Great job. The houses that u renovated are amazingly beautiful ❤❤
I know the feeling with hostile tenants. Its one of the biggest problems in SA residential real estate. Once you hand over the keys to tenants you have lost control over the asset. Sad but true
Recently found this channel and I love it, I too will be showcasing my properties like this soon i just hope to get a team such as yours for my future projects
Great content. I just came across it now. Ive watched all episodes already and i cant wait for the new episodes as i wanna see the outcome of your own home. Your wife also makes for great tv as she is such a vibe.
Just found the channel recently and this gives me such amazing insight on how projects are handled and done Thanks for creating this content man …really inspiring 🔥
The approach you used for refurbishing the kitchen is a cost saver. Works well when the carcasses are still intact and all you need are new or re-touched doors and suitable fancy handles
Hey bro, when you making a new vid. I'm excited to see what you have planned next. Your channel motivated me to start my own journey of buying fixing and renting. Loving your content. Keep it up.
Another awesome flip well done 👏🏽 Can you please do an episode comparing the cost of buying an existing home in good condition , buying an old property requiring renovations and building from scratch. Even if it’s a paper based exercise this would be much appropriated.
Congrats, great flip. And a very nice starting point for a flip as well - not often you find a house that size for that money, regardless of condition (in the Eastern Cape anyway). I'm impressed with the renovation costs for the bathrooms. +/- 60k is great. I'm getting my bathrooms remodeled at the moment (2 and a half), and its costing me a bit over double that. I guess some of the equipment going in is "top-of-the-range" but I don't see myself recouping the investment in a future sale. Good thing its my own house 🤦♀️
I love the term “pyjama lounge”😂 What a gorgeous home but what a nightmare experience for you. It’s hard to believe that people live like that. In Australia I’d hate to think how much this home would be worth. Just stunning. Yet again……amazing team.
Woow🥰 what an inspiration I m not scared to buy an old house anymore just need enough funds. Please keep us inspire d. Glad to watch something I can relate with homeground
@@FlippingJohannesburg Damn, sounds stressful! But I am really glad you managed to pull this off. You should start a masterclass on flipping houses, I am your first student! 👏👏👏👏

Whenever I visit SA (once every 2 years) to meet the family in law, I am always disapointed in the building quality of the houses. With small improvements, quality of life could be a million times better! :)
