how is the sport version? I am checking one out tomorrow.. and might buy. I have driven 45 tfsi in the same sport trim and absolutely loved it. Getting a good deal for TDI so wondering is it good.
I bought 3 series and now selling it. The car is great but too low for me as i am quite tall. Plus, putting baby in and out is a pain in the butt. I guess same will apply to a wagon? On the other hand, Q5 is tall and easy to get in and out.
@@MrrrrMime that sounds like a comment from someone who hasn’t owned an Audi. Once you’ve had one you are so jealous of Kia and Toyota drivers with their huge warranties and engines that never break.
Don’t bother asking about reliability or longevity. It is atrocious ask a few mechanics and you will get your answers and the interior looks cheap for That much money not good enough
it is obviously not as reliable as japanese or even korean counterparts. But if you drive this once and go back to those cars, you won't like them. I took test drives of top models of mazda cx-9 and kia sorrento. And they all pale in comparison to Audi. May be Mazda was close, but not Kia. My impression of Kia is of cheap and gimmicky. Road noise is way more than Audi. And steering are hard to manoeuvre as compared to light Audi steering.
@@dsinghr road noise can be dramatically reduced for like $200 with dynamat from the stereo shop mate. People do it to landcruiser utes all the time they are super quiet after you stick that stuff on.

This is entry level for Australia. In other markets(like Germany for ex.), you can also get fwd 120 kW (163 CP) TDI version namely 35TDI. Regarding the sound system, can you get the mid spec 10 speaker(incl subwoofer in the trunk)audi sound system option(besides the Bang &Olufsen more expensive option)? I am interested in a comparison between the 8 speaker and 10 speaker sound system option(10 speakers including center speaker and subwoofer, 6-channel amplifier with a total output of 180 watts). Thank you for the very nice and detailed review!
Very occasionally it happens! They’re more concerned with buying press cars they can easily wholesale later, and sadly most customers prefer black interiors
I like what it does but the profiles are sort of goofy. Could be the waistline dip under the mirror. Has a whiff of Grandad car about it, can't quite put my finger on it. $80K drive away is getting up there a bit. Good review as always. Agree with the A5 option but alas no diesel there.
It would be interest to know how does it compare to other brand like Mazda CX-9 or Kia Sorento? They are close to $70k with the top spec. Similar price range, 7seater top spec or 5 seater luxury brand.
Hi Tom it’s Cohen here I’m 14 to let you know, I was wondering if I could be in your newsletter? If this is possible please let me know! As no other car review people are responding to me. Thank you so much!
Audi do deliver a quality build but seriously overpriced. About time designers think about entertainment screen and blending it into dash. Super gluing an iPad does not equate to luxury
Seems to be the trend these days - let's chuck an iPad up on the dash to partially block your view and looks like an afterthought. I much prefer the older style of them being integrated into the dash!
Love your videos Tom! But I think I'd have to disagree with you. The base model of this Q5 doesn't feel like a luxury suv to me. That shifter area is a real mess now! They took out the rotary wheel and put in...two cheap useless plastic bins. I think I'd rather have a fully speced Santa Fe or Sorento at this price. Much nicer too!
I agree , many of the new Kia and Hyundai models offer much more class and comfort at a cheaper price . German carmakers are overpriced due to their engine as well as brand value.
@@chasingcars Nicely put Tom, much more polite than I would have been :) Totally agree with your comments about the DCT not being flummoxed, the refinement in tuning circa 202+ is really good (a slight incline with an off camber left/right turn exposes less refined units). Very nice Q5 - sometimes the more (or most) expensive isn’t the pick. Great informative review!
No worries, MP.

The BMW X3 30d with its b57 3l inline 6 diesel is unbeatable in this range of small SUVs
Agreed, along with adaptive dampers as a must-tick on the X3 - the standard suspension isn't good enough
Not sure if the 30d engine is still offered in the x3..
Yeah have to agree Tom with choosing the A4 wagon over this. 👍🏼
Get one while you can I reckon.
@@chasingcars Ah would love the RS6 in an ideal world Tom!🤤😍 But I’ll settle for my Skoda Superb 206kw wagon until then… 😴 💭🤣

I agree, chrome accents are the way to go! Best paired with dark green or blue paint and beige leather 😍
Sounds like my kind of spec!
I bought this today … I liked the behaviour of TDI over TFSI. Mine is 20 inch wheels and could be little harsh. But I am prepared for it 😊
What is the feedback these days for reliability (or lack thereof) of audi?
I feel like we have many, many reviews on Chasing Cars of the Q5, in each of them the A4 wagon is mentioned, but never a review on the A4 wagon?
Love the review, the car and Bobbin Head National Park!
Well spotted!
Great review. Just ordered mine in similar spec! Simple and solid. love the Q5
With Audi’s new 5-year warranty, the Q5 is fast becoming an even more compelling premium offer.
A welcome change.

Great review Tom. How does the interior compare to a top line CX-5?
Better, more comfortable seats, and more expensive feeling switchgear, but I’d say the Mazda has more luxurious secondary materials (door skins etc)
Surprising! Considering how expensive Q5 is and how’s it’s meant to be “luxurious”
@@TheYoyoma3 Indeed, the European definition of "luxury" has significantly diverged in modern times.
Great review again, Tom. Would be good to have opinions on reliability and longevity
Because the 2009 to 2011 2.0TFSI engines all blew up and had class actions in many countries but not Australia?
