Excellent demo and sounds! When I first got into pedals picked up a compressor pedal and had no idea what I was doing with it. Sold it years ago and am now looking at the Pedal76.
Thanks! Yeah compressors really are the final frontier of pedals for guitar players to understand 😂 But of all compressors on the market besides what I already have, this is the only one that has seriously caught my attention
I didn’t find the pedal itself noisy. Any Compressor is going to raise the noise floor. So if you are in an environment that makes your guitar buzz, it will heighten that since it’s a Compressor. And I didn’t find it to darken my tone, if anything it added a bit of top end richness. But it does have a bigger low end to it which could make it feel a bit warmer in some cases
You know, I feel like the blend functionality on my compressor is really important. Yet when I was messing with this compressor I didn’t even really give it thought that it didn’t have one. It feels plenty natural and true to my guitar tone
@@KenyonReed2 I get that same feeling too when listening to the clips, there’s no unnatural picking dynamics you’d get that would require the use of a blend knob. Really tastefully done.
Thank you for the review! I have one on order and should have it in a few days Two things that are bothersome about this video, first off the exposure does not allow you to see the meter, secondly it seems like there’s some sort of a gate on the guitar that just truncates all of the notes as opposed to letting them die out naturally.
Yeah I was bummed in the end when I realized the exposure was higher and didn’t show the meter as well. In the end most of my application wound up hitting the meter so hard that it maxed out and didn’t move. The only occasion where that wasn’t the case was when I mentioned trying to back off of it to let it “pump” a bit. As far as a sound of a gate goes, there’s no gate. Any kind of quick cuts at the end of any playing would have simply been from the video editing end to keep the video moving along not listening to the tail end of notes that wouldn’t be audible for most viewers, or to cut out redundant waiting for a note trail. But I can see see your point where that could have been valuable for some people to potentially hear how long a note sustains for. All good notes
I wonder How many people in 2024 actually have direct experience with the unit this is modeled after Regardless it’s a great compressor if not laughably large
I feel like I'm one of the few people that actually prefers bigger pedals. If EHX reissued their big box pedals from the 80s-00s I'd definitely be picking them up. Easier to see when playing with other people / live, and I just find they look better.
Excellent demo!

That slide tone was fantastic. Love the channel!
That thing is so clear.
Definitely clear and rich sounding
Sounds great. I have never even used an analog comp. I have a Source Audio Atlas, it does a ton, and seems to do pretty good emulations.
Two questions: did you find it noisy? Is the guitar sound darker when this compressor is engaged?

@ Great, thank you so much 😊
Didnt even know a 76 could be used like that for slide parts! I wont be buying this pedal but my quad cortex is about to have a new scene 🙂
Wow. So good. How am I going to figure out how to fit this on my Temple Audio Duo 17 😂
Haha yeah the question of the day for many people I imagine
How do you find not having a blend knob on this thing?

Do the Lindy pups in your guitar have more compression to them naturally?
A bit yes! They’re 8k output so do lean a little hotter
what guitar u use in slide scene? strat?
It’s my Veritas Portlander with PAFs

Yeah not likely too many folks.
And yes definitely large. But I’m always fine with the size if it’s packing quality
@@KenyonReed2 it’s aesthetically pleasing which is a bonus
