I've never owned a guitar that costs more than two hundred and fifty dollars. Don't feel deprived at all. In fact i'm happy and thankful for what I have. I think it more people live their lives that way
.the world would be a better place Keep up the good work sean
Do you apply this frugal or cautious spending habit in all facets of life
@@waynejansen1221Why spend 3k on a Gibson Es335 when a used Peavey JF-1 feels, looks, and plays the same? Sure someday I may treat myself to a Gold Top, but that will be where I'm somewhere in life where I can actually afford it.
I had to back up and watch that bonk on the noggin a second time. Good stuff. I’m a sucker for slapstick.
It looks like very dense wood, and it’s basically slab without comfort cuts - I think that’s why it’s heavy and might even sound a bit like a tele. But it’s a nice looking guitar that can be turned into a beast with some upgrades if someone doesn’t mind a weighty strat (likely someone who is used to those 13 lbs LP’s would think this is just right 😂).
Also, you wanted us to guess about the noise while you played in the beginning. I had a feeling it was the saddle radius not matching the neck, but I was only able to guess after you determined the neck was straight and the frets were level with the gauges. If it was the nut or saddles being cut poorly or having extra material sticking out, we would have probably heard a “plinging” noise instead of buzzing/rattling. That’s how I guessed! But you see? You demonstrated why it’s important to use gauges and check things in a specific order. Look how quickly you found the problem!
🤘🏻🎸❤
Cath is such a good sport. Don't tell her I said it, but you're a lucky man!
That intro had me on the floor!🤣🤣😂😛
Great intro with the wife. Seems like everytime I watch one of your videos, I learn something new. Well done.
Hahahaha, that intro is awesome! Again Sean n Cathy give us some good stuff!
You do such a good job of explaining everything you do, man - taught me a lot about guitars. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
Always waiting for your next video! Time well spent as always!!
From Leo: Good demo Sir. When I started, there was Fender, Gibson and Gretsch, all very expensive. Some of the discount stores sold crap guitars. The name on the head stocks were important at that time. The name is not nearly as important now. The only down side is if you like to trade often. A cheap guitar with good upgrades will play and sound great, but still only bring 60% of what the guitar cost out of the box if you want to trade it.
Sean! I gotta say I love your work man! Thanks for the fun and all your knowledge!
Yah great video Shawn, as usual you and Cathy do a great job making your videos.
YOU guys Rock!
Cannot wait to see your other video coming up regarding your Gibson Las Paul. I watched the first part already.
Cheers.........!
Good stuff!! Great video! I watch em all. Thanks for showing how to do all the work. That alone will get more people into guitars. 👍
When you flipped it over for the first time, I said man that’s thick, and it looks like a tele. I like my guitars heavy. I just might purchase that one. Great video, Sean! As usual!
That is the most beautiful strat I have ever seen, love that double binding.
Thanks!
You rock man! Nicest looking s style guitar I've seen in a long time
Shawn I have learned so much from you. I bought my first fender and it plays like a dream because I was able to watch you and learn some cool stuff and how to care for my axe. Thank you man.
Rock on!
That one or the reverse head stock one they make are the ones I have been looking at. TYVM for the video.
Love that guitar look!!! Sounds outstanding!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
You two kill me!!😂👍 I'm a Hocking County Ohio hillbilly and I love your channel!
Dude, I'm a drummer and still can't get enough of your vids.
Brother you do great work 💯
Cozarts are surprisingly good, all they need is a nice set of strings and a setup and you're good to go
I just found your channel and love it!
I had a COZART Tele of ash body when they were first introduced years ago... and it was well-made all over.
Hi from the UK Sean. Really enjoy watching your channel, tickles me. One of my favourite guitars is a Fazley Phynica - basically a JET JS400. I got it for £91 ($115). I got a set of locking tuners, graphtech string tree, and a nice pair of 2nd hand Duncan designed humbuckers in there, converting it to a "super strat". Added some series parallel switching for the coils. For less than $200, Ive got a full size trem, roasted maple neck, bone nut, and play a beast. My only gripe is its a tad heavy - just over 8lb- but thats not exactly uncommon with Fenders as you know. I prefer around 7lb though personally. Amazing value in these cheap strats for less than you can buy a neck for. Of course Ive got all the tools (fret straight edge, files, rocker etc) so I can do a full fret job - your videos show all the basics and I encourage everyone to buy a $100 ish guitar just to learn on!
Your intro was so funny - you had me laughing so much!!!
I bought a Cozart SG and changed PUs and tuners and it is a really good guitar
never seen a 20 inch radius on a budget guitar, i might have to check one of these out!
That's what I'm saying, what do you think the fretboard is made out of? Looks like legit Ebony wood to me
@@chadbyford2680 it says rosewood on the ebay listing, but it doesnt really have the same streaks or color that rosewood does so im honestly not entirely sure, looks pretty nice though!
Wow !!! Awesome swing there Cathy 😂
I had an ash body Tele copy from Cozart when they first showed up and it was CHEAP. They have changed since then , but they are still a good value.
Cathy is awesomeness 🤩 Sean. Cathy knows how to start a video. have a great day everyone 🤗👍✌️😎
Good job brother 👍
Dbl binding and the neck looks silky smooth. I'd be broker than I am if I was righty. Sweet Strat! ❤
I liked this video within the first minute because of that bonk in the head you took! That was hilarious!😂😂😂
That guitar sounds pretty good to my ears.
One of my very favorite guitars, and I have guitars I paid well over $10,000 for, is a Cozart 12 string I got from ebay for $89. It's a Tele body style and everything about it suits me to a Tee.
Lol, too funny . Great video. Love the binding on it
Love the intro!
I’ve learned so much from your channel. You’re very cool and Kathy is cool too. Y’all make a good team well, “that’s enough flip flapping“🇺🇸🎸
Hey buddy, I actually owned a Reverse Headstock Cozart Stratocaster a year or so ago. Got it cheap,$89 in like new condition at GC in Gainesville Florida. Ended up upgrading the pots, tone cap and wiring. I had it posted for sale, but ended up gifting to a young man that wanted to learn guitar. He got a really cool one, wish you all could of seen his eyes when I handed him that Strat, lol. Good stuff
I bought this a few years ago. Added some Texas Specials and a block inlay neck. I love it. No tenderonies! Makes me laugh every time.
Yes. This is just the cheaper grade Cozart like the recent tele. The Cozart Strat I got is the higher grade, but it only cost $150 earlier this year. It has the solid Paulownia wood body and the exotic top and matching headstock made to mimic Macassar Ebony. Everything on it was great out of the box. Still playing the original strings. Plus, it is only 7 lbs. and well balanced. The bridge was cheap, but I cranked it to the deck and yanked the springs. I never use the trem either, so it becomes just a fancy string holder for me. My only initial complaint was the slab body, but I don't notice it anymore. It's about 1/4" thinner than a traditional Fender Strat, so it winds up being just as comfortable to play. Keep up the great videos.
Damn Cathay hits hard! 😂🤣
Awesome video, I love the finish on that thing! It weighs a little more than my series 10 plywood strat (8.5) which is crazy with mine being plywood, that cozart must be from some really old growth ash!!! Has anyone figured out that fretboard wood is yet, it looks like legit Ebony to me lol 😅 primo tone woods my friend,
I have one of these without the binding and yes sir it's super heavy but you can't beat it for the price .
Wow that is heavy!
I would have liked hearing all 5 positions on that switch. I love the quack that the bridge pickup had. I am especially interested in the 2 & 4 positions, since those are the 2 that truly define a strat !
I've had a Cozart guitar for about 5 years and it is a great guitar. It's got to be the strings that making it buzz
What’s up, Sean. Lovin your channel.
I had to replay that neck swap 4/5 times I'm cryin'
Dude! Ba-BLAM! Remember Willey Nelson's first wife? I didn't see that coming and shared myself laughing! Great Intro! SUBSCRIBED!
you crack me up bro...I enjoy your videos. I love to mod my guitars. Check out the "s" style EART . 149 bucks ,stainless frets. Sweet strat !!!
Import budgets are a great way to learn how to tinker and turn out great instruments.
OOOFFF THAT WAS REAL HIT
Yall are great
low budget guitars have come a long way over the past 10 years,i enjoy buying cheap guitars and doing cheap but some what better upgrades, pickups and tuners are usually the first two things i do,GFS for pickups, amazon for nice tuners.Though gibson and fender are in their own right good guitars..........who can afford that stuff! i don't care what's on the headstock,if the guitar feels good and sounds good that's all that matters to me,as long as the guitar inspires me to play it.Thanks for all the great videos, keep up the great work!
Have you tried any of the Earl slick guitars from guitar fetish? I've got the SL 50. After a neck shim, fret level & better tuners it turned out to be a fun and inspiring guitar.
Seem like an Aerodyn strat body style, nice finishing glossy.
Straight Neck, and level Frets! Sounds good if you want a Tele type sound. And, in the age Modelers, the sound possibilities are vast. I suggest you send a link to your video to the Cozart. I think they'll be interested and like what you had to say about their guitar.
Sean: question? I got a guitar kit, but the neck was cracked! 24.75in. Long neck tennin. Can I replace with 25in. No neck tennin with out moving bridge? Thanks 🤘 😊
My bound Ash strat Kit guitar is awesome too. It's ash. Weighs about 9 lbs. Hahah I'm a sitter when I play anyway. Love the grain of ash.
showin some skills...and shes sounding sweet
What's a good weight for a guitar to you? That does seem heavy. I like between 7 1/2 to 8 1/2
Cath swinging that neck like a Louisville slugger 😂 cracked me up 😂😂
As high as you had to go on those saddles, I almost wonder if the neck pocket is too deep.
I’m subscribed and was watching you on my big screen tv. Wife saw you get hit upside the head by your wife and then she subscribed too, Not sure about this.
They compensate the low reading of the pickups with stronger ceramic magnets to be able to use less copper wire and get the same output. It used to be the same with the Squier Bullets. Soundwise not such a good idea.
This is a close video, but I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year the last one I could see was the Cort Strat. Yall enjoy the new year!
Kathy has a nice swing LOL
Excelente.....Gracias por compartir
I ve never tried to play a 20 inch radius. Is it a compound radius? A lot of S styles are 9.5 now. I have nerve damage in my fretting hand and I am play a 12 inch radius but my hand goes numb. A 9.5 thick neck is Ok. My Fender Tele reissue 50s is most comfortable at 7.25.
Good opening
Ouch - Cathy doing the "El Ka-Bong" thing! Where's the squirrel?
I can't believe what I got my hands on for this price. It was the last one they had on Ebay. Mine can setup out of the box. It is heavy at almost 10 pounds.
Damn. That girl KONKED you on the head.
be sure to check ya noggin for fretmarks haha!
i hope that neck is ok wooooo!!
had to rib ya there brother!
looks like they sold out...went to look and error page popped up...o well its all good anyway!
sweet guitar brotha!
LOOk AGAIN i just picked one up they had 3 left
@@michaelheiser861 koool!
That was funny. You're lucky you have a cool old Lady. That guitar is sweet. Bad thing is after a set of David Gilmore pickups, a Vega Term, and a set of lockers for the strings it's still pricey. That said, I am still messing with the Censtar LP you turned me on to. Rock on.👍👍✌️
I was shocked to see it wasn't a swimming pool route under there.
Nice platform for a Hamiltone copy.
7:46 hey! I have the same electric drill 😁
That looks like an Amaranthe fretboard. Harley Benton seems to like using them for their S-styles too.
Cathy has a good swing! 😂
Hey Sean and Kathy! WOW $128.00 including delivery? You’d be mad not to get one of these bad boys and as you said, swap out the tuners and upgrade the pickups/pick gaurd. Maybe even chuck a better block in the trem. You would have a beast of a guitar.
Amazing too, how little the name on the headstock means. I’ve owned all the supposed big name brand guitars and the only thing that made it worth while was when I went to sell them.
Fortunately, I think people are finally starting to understand and waking up to the fact that you get way more value for money from some of these imported guitars, and honestly most of them are running circles around the (So Called) name brand stuff. Oh and still have change to buy an amp and pedals (even a van to put all your equipment in too. Looking at you PRS and all the Custom Shops) lol.
Forget about the Logo and get yourself some Mojo.
I need a pointer.. When the guitar or strings buzz.. how can I fix it? Thank you!
Nothing like a board upside the noggin! I'm a bass player and don't know $h*t about guitars other than the usual Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, etc but that Cozart looks great for the coin. Cheers
DAMN a 9-pound Strat? That's Les Paul heavy for sure! My first thought was the fret work but since they're good and the neck's decently straight, that buzzing means those strings sounded that way cuz those typical saddles weren't setup as usual.
Those cheap PU's do have a chime like a Tele. The only thing I would have wanted to add is to hear the 2nd and 4th switch positions. Did they have that slinky Tele sound?
@@justinfleming7603 The host noted that this S style had a chimey T style sound. I wonder what it sounds like on the 2 and 4 positions.
Is the nut plastic or bone? Just curious
Looks like the SRV strat that he played at Montreux '85
Do you know about Kona Stratocaster copies
Review a censtar star strat
Almost impossible to buy a rubbish guitar nowadays. All that is needed is a decent setup as you proved here Shaun .Keep up the good work.
Nut cut buzz?
Really sounds much better after you worked on the saddle no electric and electric connection...
I'd change them saddles for brass
Ist Cassie stiking to learn the guitar?
If I had that guitar, I would inlay the headstock with " Bender... Blastocaster... What do you think Sean 👍
Nut / Neck Angle ???
