      @@waynejansen1221Why spend 3k on a Gibson Es335 when a used Peavey JF-1 feels, looks, and plays the same? Sure someday I may treat myself to a Gold Top, but that will be where I'm somewhere in life where I can actually afford it.

    It looks like very dense wood, and it’s basically slab without comfort cuts - I think that’s why it’s heavy and might even sound a bit like a tele. But it’s a nice looking guitar that can be turned into a beast with some upgrades if someone doesn’t mind a weighty strat (likely someone who is used to those 13 lbs LP’s would think this is just right 😂).
    Also, you wanted us to guess about the noise while you played in the beginning. I had a feeling it was the saddle radius not matching the neck, but I was only able to guess after you determined the neck was straight and the frets were level with the gauges. If it was the nut or saddles being cut poorly or having extra material sticking out, we would have probably heard a “plinging” noise instead of buzzing/rattling. That’s how I guessed! But you see? You demonstrated why it’s important to use gauges and check things in a specific order. Look how quickly you found the problem!
    🤘🏻🎸❤

    From Leo: Good demo Sir. When I started, there was Fender, Gibson and Gretsch, all very expensive. Some of the discount stores sold crap guitars. The name on the head stocks were important at that time. The name is not nearly as important now. The only down side is if you like to trade often. A cheap guitar with good upgrades will play and sound great, but still only bring 60% of what the guitar cost out of the box if you want to trade it.

    Hi from the UK Sean. Really enjoy watching your channel, tickles me. One of my favourite guitars is a Fazley Phynica - basically a JET JS400. I got it for £91 ($115). I got a set of locking tuners, graphtech string tree, and a nice pair of 2nd hand Duncan designed humbuckers in there, converting it to a "super strat". Added some series parallel switching for the coils. For less than $200, Ive got a full size trem, roasted maple neck, bone nut, and play a beast. My only gripe is its a tad heavy - just over 8lb- but thats not exactly uncommon with Fenders as you know. I prefer around 7lb though personally. Amazing value in these cheap strats for less than you can buy a neck for. Of course Ive got all the tools (fret straight edge, files, rocker etc) so I can do a full fret job - your videos show all the basics and I encourage everyone to buy a $100 ish guitar just to learn on!

  • @squib311
    @squib311 7 місяців тому

    Yes. This is just the cheaper grade Cozart like the recent tele. The Cozart Strat I got is the higher grade, but it only cost $150 earlier this year. It has the solid Paulownia wood body and the exotic top and matching headstock made to mimic Macassar Ebony. Everything on it was great out of the box. Still playing the original strings. Plus, it is only 7 lbs. and well balanced. The bridge was cheap, but I cranked it to the deck and yanked the springs. I never use the trem either, so it becomes just a fancy string holder for me. My only initial complaint was the slab body, but I don't notice it anymore. It's about 1/4" thinner than a traditional Fender Strat, so it winds up being just as comfortable to play. Keep up the great videos.

    Hey Sean and Kathy! WOW $128.00 including delivery? You’d be mad not to get one of these bad boys and as you said, swap out the tuners and upgrade the pickups/pick gaurd. Maybe even chuck a better block in the trem. You would have a beast of a guitar.
    Amazing too, how little the name on the headstock means. I’ve owned all the supposed big name brand guitars and the only thing that made it worth while was when I went to sell them.
    Fortunately, I think people are finally starting to understand and waking up to the fact that you get way more value for money from some of these imported guitars, and honestly most of them are running circles around the (So Called) name brand stuff. Oh and still have change to buy an amp and pedals (even a van to put all your equipment in too. Looking at you PRS and all the Custom Shops) lol.
