Thank you PapaBrad! And it's a million time more playable - honestly still a little shocked. Played JAWS last night for a couple of hours with my buddy and didn't think about lag once. I think whoever designed that table needs a beating, but that is another issue....
Its been a great long day, enjoying the updated tables, the flippers way more responsive. They also addressed another issue I had with the Zen Audio being too low compared to other tables from Magic Pixel. Really digging Back To The Future, I have it on Steam OTG and Native and I will be playing it more Native, even with a beefy gaming pc connected Id rather just fire it up and play native and move the gaming pc to other duties. Atgames is showing Continuous Improvement Program and its much appreciated, thanks Atgames, PK, Zen, Magic Pixel for working on these tables.
It has been a very pinball filled day, that's for sure! Agree 100%, I would much rather play these Zen tables on the 4KP then my rig - it's easier to do and sounds fantastic. AtGames is doing the hard, un-glamorous work on these tables, and it shows.
Excellent video JDV, thank you for all the information and demonstration! I agree with your points, the experience is so much better with these improvements.
Thank you Jon! But you did all that hard work testing the lag scientifically (and thank God too!). Great way to say it too - the "experience" is just so much better. Plays butter smooth and sounds fantastic.
Glad to see this is “fixed” for most of the users out there! I’m sure there will be some still not satisfied but perhaps those really won’t be happy until they get an actual physical pinball game, or a far more powerful computer based VPin. Always appreciate your content, perspective and attitude. Straightforward always. Thanks 👊🏻😎🕹️
Thanks Ted! And that's a great point - in many ways this table will merely whet the appetite of a die-hard pinball fan. But for most users (think man-cave, home bar, small home arcade), this version will be more than enough. It's now so much more fun b/c you don't have to think about it all - just play!
Having been an owner since day one i can atest that this update is probably the best thing thats happened to the alp. My neighbors are going to hate me
It now removes any real objection to the cab. A great update... Your neighbors are going to listen to great pinball games, whether they like it or not! :)
The bottom end a lot cleaner sounding. Like TWILIGHT ZONE, it almost seems like the sound is coming from behind you/from all sides. A really great sounding game.
I bought the 4K Attack From Mars machine a few months back and the lag was horrible for that table! Luckily i was able to play the Natural History tables and others that were included without any extra cost for the free 2 months thing that was included with the machine, but I was pretty upset about paying so much money for the machine to have such a bad experience on the main table. I refused to buy any of the Zen Tables due to the lag. Once the patch came out and after watching this video I bought the Adams Family pack and it was night and day, very satisfied. I've since purchased the Universal pack and just recently they patched the Attack from Mars and I am so happy with my purchase now. As they continue their patches for previously released tables I can now say I will consider buying said tables since they finally fixed the issues.
They really did fix it, which is a bigger deal than I realized. While I still think the Zen tables were playable, they weren't fun. Now, they are! We're really starting to see the full potential of this machine, which is great news for everyone.
My ALP 4K dreams have now been met .. 😂 my fam loves this pinball machine & now with the all these zen tables & future tables coming, it’s so much more fun. Highly recommend picking one up if you haven’t already. Surround sound feedback kit is a must.
Oh yeah - the SSF kit is a must buy if you really want the best experience. Such a huge difference. Very excited to see some of the future Zen games, especially THE THING!
Great fix. Apparently they are saying if you play a zen game that doesn’t have the fix you need to reset to get the low latency again otherwise it will be bad for Adams family after. But agree. It’s fantastic. Also think the sound changed.
Great video. It's so much better! Was unplayable before, works great now and can actually enjoy it. Was starting to think it wasn't going to get fixed, but this patch is awesome. Very happy with the update.
I mean yeah, I think it was technically playable (those massive high scores tend to prove that), but it wasn't very much fun. Now it's a blast to play - totally different experience. /
@@evilgeniusentertainment Yeah it still worked, I'm sure people were able to adapt to the flipper lag. Simply meant it was unplayable for me and everyone I had over that tried it due to the lag ruining it. Thanks for the reply and video. God Bless.
Hey, glad it helped! You digging Snoppy huh? It's a tough game, I'll tell you that! Also, we should be seeing a new skin soon (I'm hoping for CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, but that's just a guess).
@@evilgeniusentertainment Well, I have always loved Charles Schultz’ Peanuts, but actually I am not crazy about the Snoopy table. I like the Charlie Brown Christmas table much better. Of all tables, my favorite is Family Guy on FX3. I bought it on my Steam Deck before they canceled it, and I’d really like to play it on a ALP4k, but I guess I will now have to wait and see if they re-release it for FX.
To likestech, I have the Peanuts themed cabinet and it looks incredible. Added the Peanuts control panel skin from BuyStuffStore and changed out side buttons so they’re black/white (no red) and machine pops even more. Disappointed in the “flatness” of the Snoopy game and hoping the Charlie Brown Christmas looks better. The SSF kit is a must have. I’m 100% satisfied with my purchase!!!
Thanks for the great content! So thrilled ATgames fixed the flipper lag. I had a question I hoped you could answer. I own the Peanuts Snoopy pinball machine. It's update was released today. I don't see the option to update it in the AppStore like the other tables. I figured it was different beings the Snoopy table came with the machine. Is it update via the Atgames Component Update and NOT from the Appstore? Thanks!
Did you upgrade Snoopy from a few days back? B/C they're saying to delete that one (it got accidentally released). Otherwise, let me check for you.....
If people don't like the not-quite-4k art on Zen tables, that's really a Zen problem, not a AtGames problem, isn't it? Without noticeable flipper lag, the ALP 4K is without peer in the pinball world in value for your money. I think thats a fact.
There's 160 (so far) non-Zen games too, and they never had lag. Now that the lag has effectively been dealt with, it makes it even better. Even without the Zen games there's nothing else like it on the market. I suppose ultimately it's a Zen and AG issue, as Zen has the licenses and AG has the cabs!
There's several skins already available, plus versions which have the SSF kit pre-installed. The order direct version has no SFF and 1 game included. I'm not sure if AtGames is selling to outlets in Canada or not... Hope that helps some!
Peter, you may be seeing the non-4K version called AtGames Legends Pinball HD. That version is still available, but is not 4K. It also has smaller backglass, slightly smaller overall cabinet, and (most importantly) cannot play these new Zen 4K pinball table releases.
Only change I could see was a tiny bit of jagged-ness on a curved section of a wire form. Everything else looked great to me! That said, I do wear some pretty thick glasses....
Peter - mine came pre-installed. But here's a great video showing how easy/hard it is to install: ua-cam.com/video/AhYYJxTn1rc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I thought it looked very good. I don't know that it was ever a true 4K game. I think what happened is that they had to reduce the anti-aliasing (you can see a jaggedness on one part of a wire form).
All the Non Zen tables are 4K, the Zen tables are not in 4k, considering the power required to run Zens in 4k, my gaming pc can do it with 12900k, 3080ti. 86 percent of the tables available on the ALP 4KP are in 4k, table resolution is the responsibility of the table publisher, the ALP 4KP can render 4k Native as well as OTG as described above, 186 tables, 160 are in 4k.
I have got the ALP Micro, the lag on the 4K seems better now with this fix compared to how it was before, although I have to say I can still see some noticable lag, especially compared to how well all of the Non-Deluxe Zaccaria tables on the ALP Micro or HD play. I think FullHD or max. 2K with 90Hz or 120Hz would have been a better choice for medium-beefy hardware than going for 4K 60Hz. But it's good to see the 4K finally becoming somewhat playable with Zen tables, and surely a lot of people can adjust to it and will believe it's good enough.
So at 60 frames a second based on their numbers they reduced it to around five frames of lag? It's kind of crazy they released a product with that much
Spluge, are you the authority here regarding virtual pinball latency? Would really love a frame rate lag comparison of the AtGames (improved Zen) and non-Zen tables vs other manufacturers that charge $5k to $12k for theirs and how OTG with a quality gaming computer compares. I’m guessing 3-5 frame rate lag on all! If true, your comment makes no sense.
Let us know us what you think if you've tried the upgrade! If you were on the fence about buying the 4KP, does this firmware upgrade change your mind?
Great video. The playabilty is so much better. I got a 200 million point game on my third play on Addams Family.
