Before I consider, I’ll stand back and wait to see if the lag is actually fixed. I’ve got 2 real pins now and want a virtual pin for the variety, but I’ll wait and see.
It's close enough that it's not an issue at all anymore. I don't think there's really much difference between OTG and the lag fix. They play good enough I'm not going to bother to turn on my PC to play those games anymore, plus the SSF enhancements are insane on it.
@@evilgeniusentertainment I think that the SSF on the new Zen tables is way better than the Magic Pixel ones. The MP ones have reverb mixed into the samples and it doesnt need it at all. I think I am going to attempt to add some dynamat inside my cab and try to cut down on the reverb inside the unit.
Nice ideas. I would really like to have the option to show the local high scores on the back glass instead of the internet high scores. I would prefer to beat our house scores rather than some of the insane scores out there.
I tagged this on the AtGames official 4K pinball Facebook page. Lot of good feedback and likes. Hopefully it sent some traffic your way. I like your channel.
#1 agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY! I've been tweaking inclination, X/Y scale, layback etc. so long in in VPX that it really seems like a no-brainer/essential feature at this point.
I mean even just an apron mode would be awesome - I don't need full on VPX flexibility, but at least a couple of options would be nice. Sometimes I fiddle with VPX for so long that I forget to actually play the games!
Thanks for the video, and I hope the Flpper Lag is fixed without braking anything or making other concessions. Similar to yours, My Top 3... Apron Mode, a graphical fix for some low-res tables, and a similar fix to plunger.
Hey Dale, thanks for checking it out! Couple of people have mentioned the plunger as an issue. I haven't found it to be a problem, but then again 3 of the games I play most - GODZILLA, ST:TNG, and ATTACK FROM MARS don't use one!
Great suggestions ! I like the top scores list one viewing past a few pages. They should be able to do that quickly. I would like to see a button on the top deck .. I do like the nostalgic button on the front face .. but reaching down every time to select something is a pain and not user friendly for newer players. I would add a select button on the top right hand side of the control deck.
Yeah, it's still a bit clunky - perhaps having the buttons on top would help. I ended up putting the start button on my build on the top deck for just that reason. But you do get used to it very quickly... If I had to pick, I'd still want a strobe light first! :)
Thanks for your thoughts on improving the 4k machine. My main improvement I would like to see is the delay on the plunger. This was an issue on the hd model and was eventually fixed. Hope they look into doing this on the 4k as well.
All great ideas. As far as the back glass top scores, it would be nice to have a software toggle for systemwide, local scores or both. The data is right there. Seems like it would be easy to implement. At least for older machines, it would be nice to have a three or five ball switch. That was a setup feature in the old days for the arcade owner and I would like that at least on the fifties to seventies tables. Older machines with small flippers and more easier drain characteristic’s were much better in five ball. On many of the older tables there is no display of ball in play. That would be nice. A lot of the time, I’m get lost. I wish they offered an accessory option for longer more stable feet. I’m a talker guy and have them at full extension on thick pad carpet. Even with the accelerometer on low, I have a tendency to rock the table on multiball. It doesn’t help that I have to slap the flipper buttons faster on Zen tables. I wouldn’t mind paying for that as an option from AtGames. 🖖🏼
Thanks Tim and wow - some great ideas. I think I have enough for entire 2nd episode! 3 to 5 ball switch (which could be virtual or in the table settings) is a GREAT idea, because you're completely right, some pins are essentially made to use 5 balls for "normal" players. I wonder if you could adapt real-world pinball machine legs to the 4KP to get an extra inch or two. Thanks for a great post!
I'd say what we've seen so far is "enhanced". AtGames seems very confident that they have it licked for good... but we'll know for sure in a little more then 3 weeks!
It just needs to feel improved enough so that the overwhelming majority of users can't feel any real difference between the Zen tables and the ones from other developers. Is that a "fix"? Well, yes. But maybe they don't want to use that word ("fix") because it legally implies it was "broken" before.
Sure. But at this point I still have to change my timing when moving between Zen tables and the others. Hoping I won't have to do that anymore. I mean, even in the real world tables I remember different flipper "feel" between, say, Williams and Gottlieb. But that's not the same thing as the current Zen lag interfering with gameplay. I'm optimistic, though. They wouldn't announce it this big unless they were pretty confident.
I agree with the high score comments . High scores are super important to me and I want to see if I am 500th , and then if I am 400th I know I am improving . Arcade 1up leaderboards are like this but I would like to take it a step further and want to see how many people are on the leaderboards . Am I 500 out of 1000 players or 500 out of 5000 players . I wish 1up had done the this too. It makes a difference to know this . Question ….do the local high score show on the back-glass ? That is far more important to me than online scores for friends and family to compete . The leaderboards look much better implemented than on the HD. Do you find this ?
I'd like to see improvements to the front nudge. Maybe move the button next to the D-pad, or make the button large. I'm going to mod mine, but out of the box the front nudge button is useless.
Yeah, that's a good one! But is a problem without a good solution - I put a fat 3" button on the front of DIY pin with the idea of it being easier to bump, but I rarely am able to actually hit it. Maybe adding a third button below the other nudge buttons would work?
@@evilgeniusentertainment I just manually nudge the machine. i try to avoid the nudge buttons completely. They aren't intuitive enough, and manually nudging feels more like a real pin.
I believe it should be in big box stores in October (but don't quote me on that; I haven't checked in a while). To get the $1099 deal just go to their website: atgames.us/
Like your vids, but still presumptuous on that lag fix. Saying they're "rewriting" the code.... They can't rewrite the Unreal engine, so they're tweaking non core assets. Translated: We're adjusting graphics and physics assets to give more clock cycles for the ASIC function to afford more timely input execution.
I'm fairly sure they've got it fixed for two reasons: 1, unlike some arcade companies (cough A1up cough cough), AtGames has a long track history of doing firmware upgrades. In other words, their corporate mindset is that of acknowledging a problem and then fixing it. That's a pretty big positive. My limited knowlege is that AG's worked with several groups, from the chip maker to Zen to Google to Unreal etc. It's clearly been a major effort to correct the issue. 2, and perhaps most compelling, is that they face ridicule & disaster if they announce a fix and then it turns out to be no better. So my money's on it being fixed. If it isn't, I'll be the first to say so....
@@evilgeniusentertainment I'm a fan, since have the ALPHD. I'm also very familiar with the 3588. It was not intended for 4K gaming. Interested in what compromises they do to offset and give more clock cycles for input and wait states. Added: I'm still waiting for retail stored units that are not overpriced to offset for shipping, such as Kohl's. Mainly OTG for my use though.
Let’s see how the update actually works should have been done correct the first time they had to have known it was not ready for consumer release so why should they be trusted now results not statements
Two things regarding this - 1, their contracts with Zen/others likely required the specific release dates. 2nd, and far more important at this point, AG seems very confident in the lag being fixed. It would do massive damage to them if it weren't, both in terms of bad pub & having a flawed product. I'd be shocked if it weren't fixed given all that. But yes, I'll be testing anyway!
Exactly... what? I make it pretty clear the fix isn't hear yet, and I certainly don't guarantee that it will work. I think most people can figure it out.
Who the hell would scroll through 5000 top scores just to see their name? Nobody. Should allow local high scores on each machine because then you and your friends who actually play with you can battle for the top spot. Why should we have to always look at some strangers scores?
Well, maybe not 500, but only showing 25 isn't enough either. I do agree that the user ought to be able to show either the top scores world-wide, or the local high scores.
@@evilgeniusentertainment Yes, especially in a bar setting. Would be a reason to play to try and best a buddy. Also, I mentioned it once before, but it would be cool if the ball jumped up and hit the glass like sometimes happens in real pinball. The noise is startling lol. Good idea on the speakers. Agree 100% - the fixes worked! And some of those games sound straight up amazing w/ the SSF (dare I say better then "real" pinball?)
@@evilgeniusentertainment I think that the SSF on the new Zen tables is way better than the Magic Pixel ones. The MP ones have reverb mixed into the samples and it doesnt need it at all. Agree about the Zen games sounding better with the SSF kit - hopefully AG will continue to fine tune all the tables!
Nice ideas. I would really like to have the option to show the local high scores on the back glass instead of the internet high scores. I would prefer to beat our house scores rather than some of the insane scores out there.
When off-line, it shows the local scores - but I don't think you can toggle between them....
Awesome suggestions. ATGames I hope you are watching this!
