  • Well hello and welcome to my new channel about wildcamping.
    I go up to my favourite place to camp and that is the downs near to me , and I take a slow walk into Berkshire and find my spot for the night , I have camped here before but not this spot.
    watch the video to see all of the surplus kit I use , British Swedish and German forces are represented in this video .

      I do have a lot of military surplus kit , it's good solid tried and tested gear . Although sometimes I think I have to much .

      Yes it really nice up here on the downlands , it's such a vast area especially the places I go where there is no other people , nothing like a bit of solitude..

      Thank you Martyn. I was originally planning 1 a month but that turned out to be a bit ambitious. I am quite happy the way this channel is going at the moment , at the pace I planned .

      Hello Jamie.
      This trangia was made in 1962 and is 6 years older than me and still going strong (unlike myself) . The wide base allows you to put meths around the base giving a quicker bloom . It works better than the more modern ones .

      @@notyouraveragejoe322 I get on really well with my Trangia, I suppose not having used a better version I don’t miss it. I can definitely see the benefits of it. I burn methanol in mine, I like the clean burn it gives. ATB 👍🔥🍳

      I had suspected by the surplus surge in the woods that there might be a cinnrction but it is such fun to be invisible. Again, great to see you out mate and you certainly enjoy the calm of the forests. Atb. H.

      Glad you mentioned the water , I forgot my USGI 2Quart bladder , left it on top of the Washing machine lol, luckily I had this 1litre bcb bottle with me.
      Not an ideal start I must admit.

      I do like the Swedish trangia kit , everything you need in one simple easy to use system, it's just baulky and a tad heavy.

      Really enjoyed this one , I forgotten how much fun doing these style of camps are , the midges and flies didn't come near me , I sprayed everything in permitherun , and they hated me for it lol.
      That sky was amazing but funnily enough I didn't get a drop of rain.

    Lovely vid. I’m a big fan of the tarp and Bivvi, especially for single nights. Just got myself a Lanshan but not used it in anger yet. Hoping to use it on the Ridgeway soon and see how it compares to a Bivvi

      I got the winter inner for my Lanshan it makes a lot of difference especially with a T-zip .
      It's been awhile since I did a tarp and an open bivi camp and I really enjoyed it , now that the new style lightweight bag has a zipped bug net what's not to like. Atb

    I hear you on the pillow front and the thickness affecting quality of sleep. I've got a Sea To Summit aeros premium, which works really well for me on my Thermarest xtherm mat. Had other pillows in the past and woke with a sore neck. Great video to start the channel 👍

      I only found that pillow which is a sea to summit aeros copy when I cleared out the loft, now I know why it was up there lol 😆😂. Atb

      I found the cutlery roll which I think held car windscreen bits in my garage , I just re used it for my cutlery roll.
