  • In this video I show you what happens if a hole were to get blown in your spaceship by using a a Mylar rupture seal and a vacuum chamber! In Star Wars (The Last Jedi) when a certain someone is launched into space, this is what it would have looked like! I show you with a little Play-Doh figuring then I show you what would happen with a smaller hole and object coming near it like a can of soda and also an orange! This video shoes the amazing damage that can occur when a pressurized space shuttle is suddenly exposed to vacuum.

In mechanics shops, they use compressed air to power tools. If their air compressor doesn't have enough capacity, they can install an expansion tank to increase the amount of stored air. I think the only vacuum in this system is in the chamber, and a bit in the hose. The possibilities for interesting experiments could increase with a sustained supply of vacuum.

  • @shanic02

I predict it could, but it would become increasingly difficult with increasing depth. At extreme depth it would take a pump type apparatus because a human couldn't exert the lung power to inflate it.
I also predict it would eventually pop if inflated enough, because despite the pressure outside, the balloon still has it's limits.

If you get a hole in you spaceship it would just fill the spaceship with no air and probably shoot you out and you will be flying in space until your space suit runs out of air or if you don’t have a spacesuit you would just die because no air

    • @sapphocortez2287

      To vaporize, you'd need heat.
This is a case of varying degrees of pressure. There's no pressure in space but oxygen creates pressure in a spaceship. When a hole is made. All the oxygen rushes to the area of lower pressure to try and even the pressure out. You get stuck to the hole and you be sucked out... How many pieces you're in depends on the size of the hole

    • @DonnieZonac

Not quite. One obvious solution is to go to another, more massive planet. That isn’t easy though. Comparably you could just increase air pressure in a room and this would have a similar effect but would most likely be hazardous to your health

I've the feeling this experiment might be a bit inaccurate?. I think it should be the other way around: A small box at 1 atmosphere inside a bigger box in a vacuum? I think the air from inside the little box would push with quite less force as it would be less massive?

the body is pretty good at keeping it's pressure; by the time something would happen you would have died from suffocation long before. This is why you wont explode in space...

The Action Lab, everyone of us use to think that air cannot travel faster than the speed of sound in ambient air...
    Well, check this out, seriously.
    ua-cam.com/video/JWt5DnfYH3I/v-deo.html
It is not a special gas mixture. It's just air.
Of course there must be a limit, but since sound is a wave, and compressed air is not a "wave" (it's more of a flood) it can travel faster than the speed of sound. At least that's the only reason I can imagine.

    • @Mrtheunnameable

There’s one problem with the experiment, when it goes through the hole it hits the bottom of the vacuum and thats probably why it explodes/breaks the item. Wouldn’t probably happen in space. But awesome video!

I think Because Science explained it really well. You can’t be sucked through a tiny hole. It’s about if I remember correctly around 6 lbs of force sucking you out. So being sucked out is the least of your worries

  • @DTG_LOCKETT
    @DTG_LOCKETT 2 роки тому

You should have used two chambers with the clay doll in the middle of the chamber that's going to stay pressurized until the breach happens between the vacuum and the pressurized chamber. The doll is acting like a plug that's to weak and to small to plug the hole when the breach happens so it will obviously get sucked out the hole by the atmosphere rushing past it. That won't be the case if it's not blocking the hole

it would be interesting to place a cushion below the soda can to try prevent it bursting. That way we could see if it actually deformed as it got sucked through the hole.
Also to do the orange with a smaller hole, to see if you can suck the juice through its skin before it's pulled through.

What happens if you are 5 Guardians doing a star survey and a hole gets blown in your spaceship when you are near some blue and green planet 500 years ago. Lets see, you crash into Antarctica and most of your spaceship sinks thru the ice to the freshwater lake 1 mile down. Well this video was awesome! I have a flat surface and duct tape too. ha ha. I expected the red guy to be made out of a balloon. Try making this out of ballistics gel with a balloon in it, to simulate air pressure inside your body.

The Byford Dolphin was an offshore drilling rig that experienced an accident when deep sea divers were being transferred from a diving bell to a decompression chamber to recover from their time at depth:
"Hellevik, being exposed to the highest pressure gradient and in the process of moving to secure the inner door, was forced through the 60 centimetres (24 in) diameter opening created by the jammed interior trunk door by escaping air and violently dismembered, including bisection of his thoracoabdominal cavity, which further resulted in expulsion of all of the internal organs of his chest and abdomen, except the trachea and a section of small intestine, and of the thoracic spine. These were projected some distance, one section later being found 10 metres (30 ft) vertically above the exterior pressure door."
Violent decompression is nothing to mess with. Incidentally, there are pictures, I do not recommend you google them.
